The tank i have says its 2 gallons, but when you fill it up its more like 1.5gallons. Which is a decent amount of space for a Betta. I have the tank already cycled and I plan on getting one or two apple snails :3 and maybe ghost shrimp.

I think I'm going to get a female Betta, I have owned many male bettas so i figured a female would be a good change! :3

Sorry this is all going on, this is suppose to be your thread.

I din't know you could put bettas and ghost shrimp together
It depends on the betta.
Some bettas will try to eat them, some will compleatly ignore them. The best way to try to keep them together is by providing a lot of shelter, and adding the ghost shrimp first.

I see. If I ever get a betta agian i'll have to try that

I've got female bettas. They get to a nice size as adults, especially if they're not stunted by cramping them in small quarters. It's a really bad idea to put all of them in a 5.5. That's just not enough space for them. It might work out for a while, but it's not fair to the fish.

Fish dont grow to the size of their container, water quality is what stunts them and im stict on water changes. I will be upgrading them to my 30 gallon when they get bigger. Ive been keeping fish for a long time and i know what i can and cant get away with.

Actually the "container" does stunt their growth. Each fish REQUIRES a certain amount of space. You wouldnt shove as many as you could fit in the tank where you could not even see the decor or water would you?
If you want an example of stunting growth look at plecos. One in a 5 gallon wouldn't grow as big as one in a 80 gallon. It's obvious.

As said earlier it may work for a while, but your soon to be fish will fight for space and not be very happy.

How long is a "long time" that you've had fish?

10+ years and apparantly yall dont know how to read, THEY ARE ALL SMALL! PLUS I WILL BE UPGRADING THEM TO A 30. IM done discussing. I will be posting pictures when i get the tanks done. BTW it is NOT the tank size. There was a guy who raised oscars to full size by doing 100 percent water changes daily in a smaller tank. This chick on another forum saw a columbian shark that had a 90 degree angle in its spine because it was kept in a tiny tank. NOW if the tank size stunted the fish dont you think that the shark cat would be the length of the tank or smaller?!
It is water quality that stunts a fish. Plecos crap alot and foul the water fast, they also have long lifespans, 20+ years easy. Howevers alot of people who would put a baby common in a 5 gallon tank, generally havnt bothered to research about them and call them s**t eaters.

Here is a picture of the 5.5 that i had before with 4 female bettas in it.

I never said tank size stunted fish growth, that's a common misconception and I'm not an idiot. The hormones in the water can stunt the growth, reason being most people don't do proper water changes, or any at all. You didn't at all say the 30g part before when I was reading, otherwise I wouldn't have said anything.

I didn't realize you knew about fish, I assumed you were just another one of those people that come in and say "lulz imma put 2384723457 fish in this 5 gallon and change a cupful of water once every month."

Many breeders do what you said and raise fish in tight quarters with 100% water changes. But obviously the average person who walks into a pet store and buys a fish doesn't understand all of the chemistry behind fish keeping, and I apologize for lumping you in with everyone else.

Its ok i react the same way when i deal with the douche bags at work pretty much daily. The way you worded one of your posts implied fish do grow to the tank size. Then lead game advisor believes they do as well.

An example of a douche bag, and the reason why i have gotten back into bettas, there is this guy who plans on breeding bettas. He has 4 males to a 10 gallon tank, in divided little sections. He plans on introducing a female to each section and breeding in that. For female housing he stuck 19 females in a 10 gallon with no filtration. That he bought between the 2 stores. He was doing a 100 percent water change every 2 weeks. Needless to say all the females died. About every other week he would come into both the store i work at and the parent store 40 minutes away and look at female bettas and buy 1 or 4. We knew he had a 30 gallon and when we asked info he would never go into detail so we never knew he was crammin all the girls in a 10 gallon. The idiot never listened at all to me or my boss. There was this one female that i had on hold for him, when i found out thats what he was doin i hid her out back and lied and said she died. Same with a blue and yellow male, hes out back too. Hes going in the 2.5 when i decide what to do about substrate.

I see thank you for explaining everything,

Edit: And I never said plecos were s**t eaters. I know they do not eat the poop

Plus, I wouldn't mind if a few got eaten anyways. :3
