DoA = T&A

Admit it.

Dead or Alive IS T&A but I still like playing it for the multi-tiered level designs, smooth controls, and great gameplay

I used to like DoA until I played 4. Then I just hated it. All the timing and stuff changed it seemed. I still beat it and got all the characters and stuff and was competent, but DoA may pretty much be dead now since Tomonobu Itagaki left. I mean they're making a Ninja Gaiden 2 Sigma but that isn't new. No DoA 5 announcements or anything. I also hated the lack of balance of difficulty in the DoA series. Example: 1-3 were too easy and the story mode could be completed with one character in 5 minutes or less. In 4 the difficulty just steeps up and beats you into oblivion until you find some weakness to exploit...of course I guess that's better than an SNK boss. -shiver-

I haven't played DoA 4 yet, so idk how that is. I didn't know Itagaki left, but I'm assuming from how you're talking they're continuing without him?

Well yeah but besides the Ninja Gaiden 2 update for the PS3 I'm not sure what they're planning. But yeah I'm sure they'll move on without him. I wonder what Itagaki will do in the mean time? He could get together with other developers and make some really awesome, original, ultra hard game like the guy that made Devil May Cry is doing with Bayonetta.

kas - i've played MK1. of the old games, however, MK3 was my favorite.

ash - soul calibur sucks. it takes no skill to play that game, it's far too easy for a button masher to come in and win repeatedly. knowledge of the combos is completely unnecessary.

I have to say that I enjoy Soul Caliber quite a bit but I'm not blind to the problems with it. You're right. Knowing combos and stuff in that game is over achieving so that makes me an over achiever lol. Then again 3D games are a lot easier to win in than their 2D counterparts. But I feel like there is always some sort of elements that separates the elite from the scrubs. In Street Fighter 3: Third Strike it's parrying, Soul Caliber it's guarding impacting and the backwards one, Tekken it the extensive knowledge of juggling. If you know enough you can destroy any new comer at fighting game unless they are being like extremely cheesy.

Mega: well, true. All three up to MK3 were pretty nice. MK3 was for one reason - it had more than 1 female characters if I remember correctly.

Nevertheless, I played MK1 at university. When only a few of the students could afford computers. And it wasn't a computer that belongd to me, obviously.

MK2 did as well. It had Kitana and Mileena in it. The two female ninjas. 3 had Sonya, Sheeva, and Sindel if I remember correctly. Though, can we really consider Sheeva a real female? She was so manly! I remember using Sub-Zero all the time, I learned his combos, fatalities and everything. Ah it was great.

i owned with sektor. my favorite thing about 3, though, was that it had all the goofy stuff - animalities and babalities and stuff to go along with the fatalities

Yeah and it had all the other "pile of secrets" in that game as well. MK was known for having loads of stuff in their games. I would be surprised if years from now Ed Boon says "Well, little do you guys know we actually had something similar to the Hot Coffee mod in San Andreas in MK3 and you had to -insert impossible stipulations- to get it." Man that would be funny.
