So, when I was younger, I read. A lot.
Unfortunately, somewhere along the line, I stopped reading as much, possibly because I didn't have as many new books to read.
Now that I have a library card and a local library to go with it, I've started being a good reader again.
As of right now, this is what I'm reading total, library or not:
Scary Stories To Read In The Dark (for nostalgia factor) Holes by Louis Sachar (again, for nostalgia factor) V For Vendetta by Alan Moore (yes, I know it is a graphic novel, but I'm reading it, so... yeah. XD) Something titled Introducing Postmodernism Twilight by Stephanie Meyer (I didn't check this one out from the library, but I'm still reading it. It's only for my personal study, though; I'm trying to figure out for myself if it's a good book or not, based on my own critical ability. I've heard differing things based on what people have said)
So, yeah. I'm probably going to turn a bunch of the library books in soon. Though, that's a lot of reading material. So, I don't plan to get new books exactly at this moment. XD
However, I will want new books in the future, seeing as I often want more books to eat up. Ah... to find new books to read once I'm done with these.
So, yeah. The point of this thread?
Aine's reading a lot more, recently. And I'm happy about that. XD
Discuss?

If you haven't already, pick up the following: Wizard's First Rule by Terry Goodkind Blood of the Fold by Terry Goodkind Temple of the Winds by Terry Goodkind. I think those are the first three books of his Sword of Truth series, but there's so many books in that series now I can't be sure. Anyway just read the first three or four books. After that the series starts to go a bit downhill, but if you still love the characters, feel free to continue. ^_^ Also get: John Dies At the End Bestial: Werewolf Apocalypse The Sight I have no idea who wrote these but John Dies At the end is AMAZING and hilarious and also scary, Bestial is pretty much the same. The Sight is pretty much Wolf's Rain told better xD (That's not really an accurate description but for brevity's sake it works). Also if you're not against comic books, pick up these: WANTED (super hilarious and nothing like the stupidass movie) The Watchmen (almost exactly like the movie but worth a read anyway) If you want to go back to teen books, The Hork-Bajir Chronicles was pretty much the best animorphs book ever. And SeaQuest DSV. There was a whole series of SeaQuest books. They're all good. I can't recall which one book I have offhand but I've read it like 20 times or more. The books are based on the old TV Show, which is basically Stargate/Star Trek but in the ocean. There's probably more I'm missing here but this is what I can think of off the top of my head. IF YOU ONLY WANT TO READ ONE BOOK GO WITH JOHN DIES AT THE END. SERIOUSLY.

I must say I used to read a lot more than I do now. I really should just sit down and have a good read one of these days...
But yeah, I'd suggest you read a few books by Terry Pratchett. And not just because of a fair amount of worship, his books are really good, even if the most recent ones, I feel, have been a bit... Lacking. Though there is a perfectly good reason for that, one that makes me sad.
I would suggest the "Song of Ice and Fire" Series, but it's quite... Well, to speak in trope, it's set in a GRIMDARK world where Anyone Can Die. They are beautifully written, long as hell, and you will end up getting attached to one of the characters. But don't get too attached.

Jodi Picoult is my favorite author - you should pick up one of her books smile
She writes criminal fiction. Her books make you think and stuff.

My English teacher would glomp you for saying that Nymphie. We are doing a unit on Nineteen Minutes right now and I am reading The Tenth Circle on my own.

Hmm... Sounds interesting. I'll have to check her out. After I've finished Enemy of God. And Excalibur... And Death or Glory... And Duty Calls... And Cain's Last Stand... And A Dance With Dragons, when it finally comes out... I have a long reading list... I also overuse the ...

Books I want to read this summer (Not including manga!)
How To Live With a Neurotic Cat - Stephen Baker
House of Leaves - Mark Z. Danielewski Are You There, Vodka? It's Me, Chelsea - Chelsea Handler The Zombie Survival Guide: Complete Protections From the Living Dead - Max Brooks World War Z - Max Brooks Pride and Prejudice, and Zombies - Jane Austen and Seth Grahame-Smith Bang Band SiXXX - John Crosby and Melissa Myer The Road - Cormac McCarthy How To Survive A Robot Uprising: Tips on Defending Yourself Against the Coming Rebellion - Daniel H. Wilson 1984 - George Orwell Envy - Joseph Epstein
I also want to FINISH reading Dispatches - Michael Herr Existentialism and Human Emotions - Jean-Paul Sartre Jasmine - Bharati Mukherjee Christ in Concrete - Pietre Di Donato
Graphic-novel/manga wise? The Watchmen Fullmetal Alchemist Sailor Moon xxxHolic Tsubasa? (Maybe...) Neon Genesis Evangelion The Edgeworth manga (It's only one... I just keep putting off reading it. xD) Read or Die
Finally, I'd REALLY like to read some of my Psychology textbook, even though I never used it for my psychology course because she never used the book!
Holes? The book that they turned into the movie? About the boys that need to dig holes at a camp, or something? I think I might have read that... I definitely saw the movie. xD And, someone suggested that I read the Twilight Series "to see for my own." But if I don't like something... I can't read it. I'll see. Books are love. <3
Of the books that I'm reading I'd DEFINITELY SUGGEST THE CHELSEA HANDLER BOOK. It's hysterical.

Unphotographable How To Live With a Neurotic Cat - Stephen Baker
AWESOME BOOK. SRSLY. I read it in like two hours. I find it funny that it's accurate and exaggerated at the same time. xD
If Aine wants to go for classics, do read: The Hunchback of Notre-Dame - Victor Hugo Alice in Wonderland - Lewis Caroll Oliver Twist - Charles Dickens A Christmas Carol - Charles Dickens A Little Princes - Frances Hodgson Burnett The Secret Garden - Frances Hodgson Burnett The Little Prince - Antoine de Saint-Exupery Wuthering Heights - Emily Bronte The Portrait of Dorian Gray - Oscar Wilde
And generally, anything by: Oscar Wilde Charles Dickens Edgar Allan Poe Mark Twaine Jules Verne Roald Dahl Shakespeare
I really do recommend The Hunchback of Notre-Dame, though. If you've seen the Disney movie, you'll notice lots of differences, which will make it...even more sad, actually. sweatdrop
My reading list is very varied, but if you want something more modern, you could read any New York Times best seller. 3nodding
I like a lot a children's author (his books are aimed at ages 9-12, and I started reading at 13 I think xD), his name is Obert Skye. He has written a series called Leven Thumps and a short novel called Pillage.
There were some other authors I was going to mention, but I forgot o: I know you've read Anne Rice, though! biggrin You'd told me that before~
EDIT - I knew I was forgetting someone. Neil Gaiman! He is the author of Coraline and Stardust. 3nodding

Adding on to what Luna said, if you want to read classics you should try Gone With the Wind. Besides Harry Potter, its my favorite book ever smile Its a loooooooong book but so worth it <3 Rhett Butler is seriously the love of my life. Sucks that he's not real.
Sheena - biggrin Tenth Circle was the second book of hers that I read. I've read 19 minutes too but I dont remember it at all. Jodi Picoult uses the same characters more then once - like a background character in one book will be the main character in another, and all the books take place in northern New England, and it gets really, really hard to tell them apart. Especially since I've read 8 or 9 of them, lol.
GRAPHIE you have a long list. At least I know what to buy now when I'm at borders biggrin /copycunt
OH AINE. You should totally read "Miles to Go," Miley Cyrus' bipgraphy ;D
