Mat just shrugged at the way she viewed the past. It wasn't affecting him right now, so therefore he didn't care. He didn't particularly like worrying about things so he wasn't about to start now with this. It was a little too early for him to be thinking of it now anyhow, as he had just arrived. Right now he was concerned with creating the present, but Zanna seemed to have been around longer than him. Mat couldn't blame her for her interest, he just wasn't going to join her.
Although her threat sounded real, Mat couldn't help but to grin anyhow. He nodded when she caught his gaze, but had already made up his mind. Dodging her weapons would be half the fun...
"Adrian?" Apparently, for Zanna to be offering the name it must be someone she didn't care for. Mat kept this name in mind but didn't have much time to dwell on it when her question came. "...This feeling? Well," the teen looked around as if trying to find the words, "I don't think its so bad. It just makes me feel like I've known you forever." He tried to shrug it off, but Zanna seemed pretty bothered by it, so he decided to humor her. "I bet it'll go away soon though."
Itsuki watched the two a little longer, agreeing with Zanna's concern on the past as the boy himself always wondered what more he could learn. The idea of Mat getting his just desserts for irritating the Amazon didn't sound too bad either...
The boy finally stood up and brushed off his pants. "The feeling I got from Ura stopped after I met him, but then again I haven't seen him since then." He shrugged, knowing he probably wasn't much help. "Well, I'm going to go. I've got some things I need to do," he nodded to them both, "Nice meeting you. Mat, I'm sure you know how to get back." With that, he waved and headed back to the street.

Well he'd just learn the hard way now wouldn't he? Either way, Mat was no threat to her right now, and after scooping up the rabbit, the Simu layed back down and set the creature down on her stomach. "I guess we shall see..." She debated mentioning why the feeling irritated her so much, since it DID feel like they had known eachother forever, but the Simu thought better of it and instead trailed off.
Zanna looked over at Itsuki when he spoke, nodding when he dismissed himself, "Nice to meet you too." Watching him go only for a moment, she turned her attention back to the rabbit sniffing on her stomach. "I have an owl at home. I used to use her to send messeges to my... To Elijah, but I've been away. I think she's mad that I couldn't take her with me."
Why she was rambling on about her owl, she didn't know, but it felt good to talk to an 'old friend,' despite the fact that she didn't really know Mat that well.

Mat smiled as he watched her interact with his pet, "An owl? Sounds like a more useful animal, I'd guess." As he watched the furry creature, he almost missed the mention of the male's name.
The teen watched her reaction for a moment before grinning again and asked, "Yeah? Is Elijah your brother or something?" She had regarded it in a nonchalant manner, but Mat noticed the small hesistation. It might not have meant anything, but he'd find that out for sure with her response.

Zanna's jaw twitched somewhat, tightening and then relaxing briefly, "No, I'm afraid he and I aren't related... It's not that simple." There was a long pause, the older Simulacra staring off past Mat and then gazing up into the sky overhead, as if expecting to see signs of hawk wings on a blonde haired boy.
Bringing her attention back to her companing, her eyes were glinting in slight anger, "He and I were... But now we are not. That is all." The Amazon gave him a look that dared him to make a joke of it, a look of both warning and promise. "Even I don't know the whole of it."
With a dismissive gesture, she disposed of the Elijah topic, shaking her head somewhat as she searched for a possible subject change.
"Have you met any one else besides Adrian's ward and me?" She questioned curiously.

Mat viewed her reaction carefully, trying to fill in the blanks that Zanna didn't speak about. Her body language spoke volumes, especially the last look she delivered to him. He might've acted like a fool, but he wasn't dumb. The teen said nothing more of Elijah, despite of high his curiosity was racing. He knew if he wanted information, he'd have to try somewhere else.
After stretching casually, Mat responded with his unwaivering positive nature, "Nah, I haven't really met anyone at all." After laying back and playing with a few blades of grass in his fingers, he glanced toward her. "Why? There aren't a whole lot of others, are there?"

Luckily enough for Zanna, her and Elijah's relationship had been quite private and discrete. As far as she knew, only the two of them and her guardian knew of them, well and Adrian too, but if he knew what was best for himself, he'd keep quiet.
The Amazon welcomed the question with open arms, "A hand full, maybe more... I am sure I have not met them all, despite being... older." Like X, Zanna wasn't keen on calling herself old quite yet. Nevermind the fact that she herself was originally born lifetimes ago.
She debated warning him of the Simu girls, who all seemed to have raging hormones to boot, but she had no idea of his sexuality or personality either. Crossing her legs over eachother, she pushed herself into a more comfortable position, "Though I wouldn't recommend any of the females from the shop for anything beyond friendship... Vultures."
Especially Aurora, she thought to herself, rolling her eyes at the mere thought of her. Well she served her purpose, and now Zanna had an ally because of her. Not entirely useless then.

The mention of women in such a context raised Mat's eyebrows. Something about the way she had worded it, as well as how disgusted she appeared, amused him greatly. What could those girls have done to warrant such a warning? The teen couldn't contain his grin, "You don't say? What makes you say that?"
Mat liked being around people, but being around women was definitely better. To be directly warned by another woman about them didn't strike Mat as odd, but inticed him. What kind of challenges could they provide? He was sure they'd be fun to pull some pranks on, too...

"Well for one, would you have sex after only just meeting someone?" Zanna frowned, if Mat even said yes then this companionship may damn well have to be switched, and may turn violent. Maybe. "I do not see myself as a prude, but I just value a strong relationship... That may not be what most males want, but women..."
The Amazon shook her head, tucking a stray curl behind her ear as she looked toward the grass in thought. "Women should be strong physically and mentally, they should hold themselves to higher standards than men... But they do not, and I have only met a handful who have..." She trailed off, shifting to resume petting the rabbit absently, eyes etched in disappointment.

Mat cocked his head to the side, evaluating how he felt about her statements. "Hm, I don't see myself doing such a thing like that. Then again, I usually just like to take life as it comes." He smiled and gave a little shrug.
"Personally, I think women should try to be just a strong as men," the teen played absently with his bracelet, "if that's what they desire, anyhow. If they don't want to then, what does it matter, eh? I don't see anyone as lower than anyone else." His gaze fell on the rabbit then Mat leaned back against the grass.
"I just don't think about status and things like that too much."

Zanna smiled, inwardly glad that he agreed with her about the strength of women. "Status has fallen into my lap... because of who I used to be, not by choice."
She shrugged, tucking some loose hair behind her ear absently as her thoughts drifted off towards the one dream she had a while back. Closing her eyes, she willed the mental images away before reopening them and glancing over to Mat.
"Sometimes, life isn't just fun and games..." She trailed off, her fingers plucking a few blades of grass from beside her.

Carefully, the teen turned his gaze towards Zanna. He took a moment to evaluate her expression before replying openly, "Eh, what makes you think that?"
He brushed aside the comment by glancing up at the sky with a grin. "As long as the sun comes up each day, you know that something good is going to come to you in life."
"You might've been born with that status, but I really don't think that makes a difference," he shrugged mostly to himself as he continued, "who you might've been was then... and this is now, right?" Mat fumbled with his necklace a little and looked back to her with a grin, "Hey, I mighta been someone real important! Heh... it'd be kinda boring, I wouldn't be able to play tricks on people... So see, it really doesn't matter to me."
The teen nodded confidently at his decision and focused back up at the clouds.

Zanna was about to respond when he continued on, and the contents of his statement made her wince. Flashbacks of the day she, or rather Penthesilea's death, replayed vividly in her mind.
And then there was what happened after death... There had been nothing "good" about that.
Shaking away the memories, Zanna took a deep breath and kept her eyes on the ground until she had purged all of the visual reminders from her thoughts. She missed his next statement, but heard his last two sentences.
With a brief glance to him she sighed, "Not everyone is like you... It is not as easy to ignore as you may wish to think."

Watching her nonchalantly, Mat tried to measure her reaction. He decided that whatever her past contained, it mustn't have been good. He wasn't sure exactly how to approach it, but her comment helped.
"I guess you're right, but it's worth a try, isn't it?" He smiled and patted her arm reassuringly, "Things are better now, though, right?"
Mat still felt unsure on how to approach her with certain things, so he only hoped he hadn't offended her yet. He could mind being attacked by her, but he didn't want to step on her toes.

"Depends on how you define 'better,'" she said with a soft sigh, fingertips absently playing through the rabbit's fur. Her eyes drifted off towards where the sun was beginning to make it's way down towards the horizon.
The touch did comfort her somewhat, and she absently leaned into it before she could stop herself.
Pausing thoughtfully, Zanna returned her eyes to her companion, watching him curiously before speaking, "I like who I am now. I just tend to have an abrasive personality..."
She wasn't going to outright say she was a b***h.

His eyebrow raised in amusement to her comment. "Yeah? I think that one was obvious."
Mat was all but grinning openly now, but it didn't matter much to him either way if she could tell. She seemed subdued by something and, naturally, he couldn't let her get away with that. Just wasn't his nature.
"I'd say it's better, well, for you at least."
After a moment of consideration, he added with a smirk, "Just think, you have me around, now!" The companion hoped she sensed a promise of mischief in her future... so at least she'd be prepared, you know.
