i would put comics under art, as they are still images, other than that leave the other 3 in entertainment.

fire - link i would put comics under art, as they are still images, other than that leave the other 3 in entertainment. I figured they would be better with entertainment, as comic books/graphic novels/manga are basically stories with a lot of pictures.

hmm, at the same time the rest of your "entertainment" area has all "moving" stuff... (i cant think of a better word to describe it, but none of them are still, and music runs through a timeline, if you see what i mean) whereas comics and art seem to me the more logical choice... still, your the captain, it's your choice. personally, i don't mind either way, just seems less logical.

I would have put comics under books and literature as they are a narrative art.

Mylian I would have put comics under books and literature as they are a narrative art. I agree with this. Comics still rely on text, as well as still images. They are the inverse of an illustrated novel. Also, comics (mostly manga) are sold in bookstores along with other books, and they generally do come in book form, whereas music, movies, video games and the like are all primarily digital or electronic now (and I don't count e-books because that's a secondary means that simply imitates the paper book format). I say comics can be art OR literature, depending on where the emphasis is placed.

@fire - link: I can see where you're coming from, what with comics being a very visual thing; but comics are just as 'moving' as everything else in "entertainment", and just as visual as a film.
@Mylian: precisely.
I think we can safely put books, film and comics together - as all three are quite distinctly narrative (indeed, the same story can be told on book, comic and film form all at once, and it seems silly to separate them). The main quibble is the placing of music; as whilst it is about as narrative as a book (especially in the case of the Clockwork Quartet etc.) it is still rather different. But I think they go well enough together.
As it stands, I'm keeping them grouped as follows - books, comics, film and music (etc.) - art, illustration, objects etc. under the basis of 'narrative' and 'non-narrative'. Whilst I accept that many artworks can 'tell a story', this is more of a static image or scenario than a 'proper' narrative.
Does this arrangement seem sensible; or would you rather things were split up/moved around?

May I suggest that you delete threads that have been inactive for at least one year? Going through the roleplaying section for something interesting and active can be a little confusing if one must wade through years of topics to do so. ;^^

Captain, the subforums are a confusing mess. Please tell me how I can help. Are the subforums stable enough for me to start moving threads to the appropriate places?

May I suggest cleaning the clutter that is the central section? There are too many stickies and announcements that aren't really needed or could be better off in a subforum. It makes it easier to find recent threads, and we don't have to scroll as much.

Keith Valken Lionheart May I suggest cleaning the clutter that is the central section? There are too many stickies and announcements that aren't really needed or could be better off in a subforum. It makes it easier to find recent threads, and we don't have to scroll as much. I'm on it. Some may move, but a few choice ones will remain. There'll be a new (more relevant) news thread coming soon as well, so I'll be removing the old one.
