Time off was rare for Candidates, and Nandeli was all for taking advantage of it. She'd spent the morning peeling potatoes and keeping the pots stirred (talking the whole time) and was using her break time to take a stroll down the beach. Though it was unusual to see her alone, it was not that unlikely. Nan sometimes concocted her best spying schemes when she was alone. And, truth be told, she was rather hoping to stumble upon a flit clutch. She'd been dying to get her hands on one of the little creatures for a long time.
With her sandals in one hand, the Nose made her way across the beach, allowing the waves to wash past her ankles. She seemed to be in deep thought as she walked, not really paying much attention to where she was going. Every now and then her eyes would dart along the beach as though looking for something. There had to be a flit egg here somewhere...

Oh fardles. The beach just wasn't a safe place anymore. But F'sey had spotted the girl (candidate?) long before she had spotted him (or he assumed as such, because she did not try to approach him like the other candidate females he'd run across recently), and that gave him time to plan his escape. While beaches her generally very bad for hiding, thins one did have a few rocks here and there and F'sey quickly took it upon himself to try and cram himself into the smallest form possible and wedge himself where he couldn't be seen.
Ialluth was confused.
This girl didn't look scary. Or mean. She hadn't even made contact with Hers; maybe Hers was hurt? Bewildered by F'sey's sudden outburst, the mottled green began to make her way out of the ocean, still watching the girl way down the beach. When Hers would not move and simply hushed her, Ialluth knew it was time for action. His manly pride wouldn't allow him to admit he'd gotten himself stuck.
With a great trumpet, Ialluth flared her wings and tried to catch the stranger's attention.
Hallo out there! Mine...Mine is stuck, can you come help us, please?

She had been so focused on the sands at her feet that she failed to notice F'sey or his dragon – something she would berate herself about later. Still, it's hard to miss a trumpeting dragon, especially when it talks to you. Though Nandeli has had a dragon or two bespeak her on occasion, it still makes her jump. It's a weird sensation, for lack of a better word, though she supposed if she had a dragon she would be very used to it. To have the voice without the bond, however, was a little disconcerting.
The words puzzled Nan, however she started to jog towards the dragon. Hers was stuck? Well, the green didn't seem too distressed about it, so it couldn't be too bad. Still, she prepared herself for the worst as she arrived on the scene. The rocks seemed like a logical place to be stuck behind (or under she thought with a small grimace), and she made her way over, peeking around the side.
"Excuse me, are you…." She trailed off when she realized who it was. "Greenrider F'sey, am I interrupting something?"

F'sey visibly startled at the voice, eyes flicking up to the figure. How in Farnath's name did she find him. It was a perfect hiding spot and- Ialluth. Jaw set, he simply grunted and tried to untangle himself, his joints giving great complaint to the entire ordeal. "If you could just give me a hand, please." This was terribly embarrassing. He'd actually gotten wedged in the rocks. How on earth do you explain this, to a candidate, no less?
Of course, if he had realized this was the infamous Nandeli the Nose, he would have struggled free himself and gotten Ialluth to take him out of here as quickly as possible, but for now? He was a sitting duck.
Very literally.
Just hold still, Mine. She will unstick you. I called her for you! his dragon assured him.
F'sey rolled his eyes and shook her head. Ialluth had bespoken someone once, maybe twice the entire time they'd been together. Of course now, she decides to get all chatty with random candidates strolling down the beach. It was just his luck, really. Well, if his luck changed, perhaps she'd never Impress and he'd never had to teach her, and she'd never have to tell the rest of the class about this awkward...predicament.
...that's rather mean, Mine.
Just know this wish is your fault, Ialluth. Busybody.

Well well well… look what we have here. Nandeli tried her best not to look like a flit that had just caught a tunnelsnake but she failed miserably. Judging by the look on his face, not to mention the general age of the man before her, she really had found Greenrider F'sey. He didn't look nearly as nasty as everyone said he was, but then again she hadn't pissed him. And he needed her help.
Never one to deny help to the elderly, she tossed her sandals aside and considered the situation. Perhaps a firm yank would do it. "Don't worry, greenrider, I'll get you out faster than you can say Threads!" She managed to quell her grin slightly as she tucked her arms under F'sey's armpits and tugged upward with all her might. Sharding adult riders being so heavy! She should have just asked the dragon to move the rock for her. That would have been the smart thing to do.
But she'd started the pull, and she was the persistent type, so she continued to try and unwedge the unfortunate greenrider.

F'sey recoiled at her grin; he often wore the same one himself and it never, ever meant good things. This was not good. Candidates were bad news. Female candidates were worse news and female candidates who could smile that godawful smile like he could? The worst. He needed to get out of this rock and put as much distanced between himself and this girl as possible, clearly. "Farnath, be more careful," he wheezes, something sharp poking his ribs.
Ialluth rumbled, wishing Hers would be a little more polite. Did he want to get unstuck, or not? Really, the girl could just leave and then he'd be wedged their, complaining about his ribs and...
...she really hoped the girl unstuck him.
"Damnit. Be more caref- FARNATH." F'sey was pulled free, his shirt a little torn where the rock had gotten him. Rubbing his side, he checked for blood before struggling to his feet and eyeing the helpful stranger.
"...thank you. I think."

Nandeli all but ignores his exclamations until he's finally pulled free of the rocks. A man his age should be able to take a little pain without whining that much. Not to mention if he didn't want to get stuck he shouldn't be clambering around the rocks in the first place. What if she hadn't been there to save him? Honestly, men never think and then they blame their mistakes on other people who should have thought for them. This was why they all Impressed greens. They needed a female mind to set them straight.
"Not a problem, greenrider! I am glad to be of assistance!" She reached up to dust off his shoulder in a somewhat mothering gesture. "You're not too injured by the tug, are you?" There was something inherently cheeky in her final question. Nandeli had been hard pressed not to ask if he wanted a Healer. With all that yelling you would have thought something a little more vital was caught between the rocks.

"No. I'm fine," he replied shortly, still eyeing Nan like a wherrie eyes the butcher shortly before his death. He wasn't yelling because of the cut he got (it was a decent cut, for the record, he wasn't that much of a sissy, or, at least, that's what he'd like to think), but because she just ruined a perfectly good shirt with all that tugging. It wasn't that old and look! A big tear, right in the side. He was probably going to have to get a new one; the repairs on a rip that large would be too obvious. He looked down an inspected the damage, tsking softly to himself as he considered his plan of-
Why was she still here?
F'sey narrowed his eyes at the youth. He could tolerate a little cheeky banter because she saved him and he could put up with being dusted off because it would be quite wrong of him to snap off a woman's hand for touching him, but what more could she possibly want? "Do you need something? I'm perfectly fine now, thank you."
If she was looking for a reward, she was certainly following the wrong greenrider!

"Are you? That's very good then, sir." The Nose really couldn't help herself. She ought not to have been poking fun at a man old enough to be her father, not to mention a dragonrider, but F'sey was just too funny. Honestly, who got themselves caught underneath rocks and then squealed when they were being tugged out? He was honestly lucky it had been her and not some vagabond bluerider looking for an excuse to molest an unsuspecting green--
Did she need something? Nandeli shrugged, opened her mouth to speak, and then hesitated for the briefest of seconds. Whatever inner question that had made her stop seemed to be answered, as she continued onward without so much as a false start. "Not really. I do have a question though." She paused to peer around him as though looking for someone that was clearly not there.
"Where's H'dra?"

"...excuse me?"
She asked you where Dievath's was, Mine, Ialluth sighed, wishing her rider would actually listen when he was being spoken to. Honestly. It was a simple question, though the green wasn't exactly sure why the helpful girl thought Hers would know where the little blue's rider was. They were friendly, perhaps, and F'sey was in charge of all the little ones, much to her great delight, but he was not in charge of what they did outside of lessons.
And while the mottled green dragon considered all this, F'sey simply stared at the girl before it dawned on him. Was she inquiring about that old rumor? He thought he'd put an end to that damn thing. "H'dra is taking care of his dragon, I imagine. Not that it is any business of yours. Or mine, for that matter. Why do you cane?"
And then Ialluth had the sneaking suspicion that he really just...shouldn't have asked that.

Though it was an old rumour, it was one that Nandeli liked very much since she had started it. The thought of little, shy H'dra being secretly infatuated with the rough, snarky F'sey was absolutely adorable. H'dra saw something in F'sey that nobody else could, and in turn F'sey sheltered H'dra from anyone who would try and take advantage of the boy's good nature. The fish in the fish rolls didn't fit as well as these two did together. It wasn't her fault that F'sey just didn't see it.
The Nose sighed somewhat dramatically at the greenrider's answer, resisting the urge to roll her eyes. Honestly, what was it with these grumpy people and their idea of business belonging to people? If she was curious about something or someone then she should be allowed to ask questions! That was how people got answers. If everyone just minded their own business, nothing would ever get done. "I was simply inquiring after him. I thought he might be out here with you, enjoying the nice weather, especially since he is rather fond of you." Between the bed sheets. "And I care because I care about everyone and I want to make sure that unrequited love does not stay so."

"...unrequited love?"
Are you hard of hearing, Mine?
Shut up, Ialluth, F'sey snapped, barely able to contain the snarl. That was the most ridiculous thing he'd ever heard. Love? Unrequited love? Nonsense! Complete, utter nonsense! H'dra was a friend, yes, and someone F'sey...cared about, yes, but it wasn't love! The bluerider...well, F'sey wasn't sure how he'd describe the relationship, but love was certainly out of the question.
"You just said unrequited love. I do not have unrequited anything, miss. And if I did, it doesn't matter to you. And I certainly do need candidates trying to put my life together for me. I think we are quite finished here."
Mine, you can't just leave.
Ialluth. We are going.

Funny, Nandeli was having similar thoughts as Ialluth. "Yes unrequited love! You do know what that means, right? It means that somebody loves you, but for some reason you don't feel the same way or haven't thought about feeling the same way with that person. Now I know H'dra might be a little young for you, but he clearly adores you. He told me so himself!" Okay, that was a bit of a fib, but it had more truth than most of her rumours. H'dra hadn't come out and said that he liked F'sey, but the boy was clearly smitten (or at the very least enamoured) by the man that he saw as his mentor. Of course it would turn into much more once Dievath was bigger. Nan had high hopes for them.
F'sey's little temper tantrum made the Nose roll her eyes, resisting the mock him by moving her hand like his mouth. Like a greenrider knew anything about love, unrequited love, or even how good a Candidate could do for him. Clearly F'sey liked being in the grouchy category. "You would be surprised what a candidate could do for you and your love life! But if you must go, then I shan't keep you. But just don't go breaking his heart, okay? He probably hasn't even come out of the wardrobe yet so you have to be gentle! Start slowly, okay!"
She beamed at him, content to talk to his back. He would understand one day.
