His words made her stop and think. Not the right kind of love, hm? Maybe it was more a mutual thing, or completely one sided. Either way, love was definitely a big part of his story. She settled into a more comfortable position and ginned. Another story, alright! Myrle couldn't be more excited. "Crying cave? That sounds so bittersweet already. Please? I'll be quiet through the whole thing."

She had a feeling this one was going to be one to tell her puppies, if she ever had any! Looking to Yasen, she looked excited, eager. Wanting to listen.

It was a pup's story, one that parents in his pack had sometimes used to threaten their pups with if they misbehaved. Willow had told him the story and it had fascinated him, until he had actually gone to the caves and seen them for himself.

"Once upon a time," Yasen started with a chuckle, pulling the story from memories of his youth. "There was a young maiden wolf with a coat the purest white anyone had ever seen. She captured the thoughts of many a suitor in the pack, but her heart was wild, and she never took notice of their advances. Until one winter, when a stranger appeared to her while she was hunting in the forest. He was a nomad, tied to no packs and no places. He was a weather-worn, rugged wolf, but somehow, the maiden was drawn to him, and he to her. Knowing that he would never be accepted into a pack like hers, he vowed to visit her at the turn of every season. They decided that their meeting place would be a small cave well away from her pack border before they parted ways.

The maiden waited patiently for the first day of spring. When the snow melted and the first buds began to appear on the trees, she went to the cave to wait. And wait. And wait. The nomad never returned," Yasen shook his head, pausing for a breath. "It is said that he had been killed by the maiden's jealous suitors, and that she howled in heartbreak so long that her body wasted away, and now only her voice remains. At night, visitors can still hear her cries."

Yasen observed Myrle with his good side, a slight smirk on his lips. Of course he knew the secret to the cave, but perhaps he'd keep it to himself, unless she really wanted to know. It was definitely not as glamorous as the story suggested.

She listened eagerly. He had such a wonderful voice; Myrle just couldn't get over that. Stories were always better when told by someone who had a voice to suit them. His was a smokey, dark voice that just made her crave more and more stories from him, more and more of his time. That, of course, couldn't happen. She could hear a few of them, but then she would have to be on her way again. Looking up at the sky for a quick moment told her the time was coming quickly.

She wanted to know more and looked at him with a whine. "Well! I want to know the secret! But it's getting so late..." Myrle's face pulled into a frown. "...Do you think we can meet back here after some much needed rest?" She was tired from her travels, like she always was, and it showed in her eyes.

It was getting... late? Yasen seemed surprised, but then he looked up at the sky and sighed. He hadn't realized he'd been talking so very long. He was obviously more lonely than he had thought, and he made a mental note to visit other wolves more often. Lowering his head slowly, he focused on Myrle's tired face, then nodded gently. "You are right, it is getting late. Perhaps we can meet here again in the morning?" He suggested, getting back to his paws. If they lingered much longer, it would be too dark to find a place to sleep.

The wolf searched his memory. From what he had seen, there could be a few sheltered places near the clearing that could serve as temporary dens. It would be dry enough even if the rain started again. He turned in the direction. "I believe you might find a comfortable spot over there, through the trees," he offered. "Of course, I have only just passed by there, so you would have to see for yourself." He finished with an apologetic smile.

The frown on Yasen's face was cute, but in more of a boy puppy kind of way. It made her smile a bit. She looked toward the sky once more and took in the coming scent of the night. Night always smelled differently than the day time; everything was asleep, including her. She would be out when her head hit her paws tonight, she could just feel it. "Well, thank you, Yasen! I'll check it out. Don't forget to meet me in the morning, OK?" Part of her had a feeling he'd be long gone in the morning. Still, Myrle squashed that down to be hopeful.

"Have a good rest, Myrle."

Yasen paused for a moment, listening to the sounds of the oncoming night. Day and night held different dangers, different feelings, and different sounds... Luckily, this one sounded like it would be peaceful, and Yasen was looking forward to a long, comfortable rest.

He lowered his head once more. "Goodnight," he said one last time, before he turned his scarred head and wandered off into the lengthening shadows.
