I've been playing my flute for about 4 years now and my parents are thinking about getting me a more Intermediate flute. I have a budget under 1000$ and I need suggestions for which brands I should consider. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gemeinhardts are good, but contrary to what many people will tell you, they're not the best. Yamahas are pretty darn good, and I think Jupiters too? I've heard good things about Armstrongs as well.
Bundys are not good. My friend has one for her marching instrument, and while it's a decent marching instrument, that's all it is.
Also, if you can play open hole (I can't, I'm horrible at it), those typically have a much nicer sound.
Flute hasn't been my main instrument for a while, but I hope this helps.

It's going to be hard to find a decent intermediate flute for under $1000. I do not recommend Gemeinhardt. I had one for nine years and it caused me nothing but trouble. I have an Armstrong 800B now and I love it. Stick with either Yamaha or Armstrong. I haven't heard much about Pearls or Jupiters, so I can't tell you anything about them. Shop around to find good prices and make sure you try several brands to make sure you find a brand that you like. If it is possible, try several different models of each brand.
Make sure you know if you want an inline G or outline G. That is important if you are buying your flute online.
Anyways, happy flute shopping! Hope you find a good flute!

I've owned an intermediate Jupiter (B foot, open hole) for a good number of years (about 3 or 4?) and it has only broken on me once. I got it for exactly $1k. I like it much better than my Yamaha. I would definitely recommend the Jupiter.

I bought my used Yamaha flute for $800. (It was used for a year). It was a sweet deal, when I picked up the Yamaha and started playing it, it sounded so pretty! Flutes made out of silver rock! xD

Contray to what people are saying in this forum, I love my Gemeinhardt. I have an intermediate flute with a low-B foot joint, open-holed and a gold lip plate. I have had it for 3 years now. I have had no problems what so ever. When I traded in my student flute for it, I got the price reduced for a trade-in. I have had no problems with my flute at all. I guess it depends on the flute but I love mine. I even named it. (I know, I am crazy.) You have to know though if you want a G inline or outline G. I have an inline on mine but an Outline for my student flute for marching. It helps.

I am not familiar with many different flute brands, but the Japanese ones are usually the best. Except they're also quite expensive. It might be the best for you to get a used one. They're usually in pretty good shape, and quite cheap. If it's possible, maybe you could rent one from a shop or something, and pay a fee monthly until you pay it off and own it. That's what I did.
I would say out of the brands I know of...Yamaha would probably be the best for your price range.
