Who: Natsuki & Sa'ida, Alex
When: Late March/Early April, 2008
Where: By the site of where the new Lab will be built; Gambino
Weather: Drizzling

It seemed April showers had come early, settling in a soft grey cover over the bustling streets of Gambino Isle. Alex immensely enjoyed the weather, finding peace in the time when the rain would settle the dust of humanity, clean and wash away the dirt and leave everything feeling new and rejuvenated. She liked to spend these days on her patio, watching the soft, misted drops fall, creating rainbows when the sun could filter through the puffy clouds. It was positively breathtaking when viewed over the ocean, a dance of fragmented color that put even the most beautiful sunsets to shame.

Green eyes swiveled to her side, black hair clinging to her face where the rain had kissed her, a smile worn on her tan features. She couldn't tell if her thoughts of rainbows and colors were due to the rain or her reason for being in Gambino and not at home; said reason was one she had tried to cover in a blanket for the sake of the delivery, for the sake of keeping her dry, not knowing what the rain would do to her. The woman herself was dressed in a thin hoodie over plain jeans, not having dressed to impress that day, but also not having intended on being momentarily responsible for the beacon of light at her side.

I remember you...

Who would have known that rainy night a year ago would come to this...?

No, Alex supposed she knew, when Natsuki had told her what had happened in sparse words; this was the reason. This was the outcome. And this was one of the most beautiful creatures she'd ever seen. The Italian had seen many-a-creature in her time thanks to her profession, so to say that the Raevan at her side was fetching was no small compliment.

She'd run into Kyou during one of her inner-city runs, the doctor having been pleased to have run into a friend of Natsuki's; her Raevan had been born, but the man himself was half out of his wits with getting the new Lab built and had no where to shelter the newborn until he could contract their mutual friend. Naturally, Alex had offered to take the Frei directly to Natsuki; a phone call later and an agreement that the cafe was likely not the best place for the Frei to first experience humans, Alex found herself near the aforementioned cafe but off to the older part of town, one that wasn't quite so busy with the showers, often used to sell the fresh produce and wares of the city. It was awash in the wet roll of tires a few blocks away, and more distantly, the gentle roaring lullaby of the ocean. Only the rain and a few curious passerbys kept the two company.

Now, all they had to do was wait for Natsuki.
