I think it sucks that school's care more about sports than band and musical programs. Our sport teams (volleyball, basketball, wrestling, track, etc.) really haven't or have not done well this year yet they get their announcement in the morning after the meet or match. Yet when we went to district band festival on Saturday and got an overall of one (which meant we were going to state) and they didn't announce that till Tuesday for the afternoon anouncements. Same for solo ensemble and state band festival. And also we had to get a lot of money for state and our band director had to beg on his hands and knees to get most of the money yet for sport teams, the money is just handed to them no questions asked. It sucks! Anyone agree with me and have ever had this?

That happens at my school too. The seniors tell of a story about how the band used to get charter buses(you know, the really nice ones) for away games and competitions. aparently, once the football team stole them and left the band the normal school buses. Now they always get charters and we get school buses(air conditioning if we are lucky...)

o_o
Totaly different in my district/state/whatever. They're cutting sports next year, not band. Sports dooo get more announcements, but I think Band isnt getting cut (yet) because the state doesnt pay for it, mainly parents do. :
