Sunshine flickered brilliantly through the clouds above to land in a dazzling dsplay upon the golden coat of a slowly grazing mare. She seemed in no particular hurry and wandered a meandering path alone though the emerald green.
Many here would not know her, excepting perhaps her family and even them she hadn't seen in..well longer then she could remember really... she had kept to herself for quite some time, it had suited her well this quiet lifestyle but lately she felt the inkling to socialise and so down she came to this lush valley in order to wander amoung the herd's and perhaps..maybe...meet someone new.
Etain did not hold out hope for such a thing she had never been good at such social niceties as making friend's though for the life of her she couldn't figure out why, afterall she wanted nothing but the best for those she liked...even if they didn't always agree with her about what that ment. Foolish beasts. Snorting slightly she flicked her violet tail in the equivilent of a shrug, ah well..such was life right?

Nearby, the sun filtered through the clouds and trees to land upon the snowy stallion, who flicked his curly tail. Odd, he thought, how part was white, when his mane was all brown. Hu. Well, Ichsa wings were odd enough for crossbreeds to obtain - and with them and his black horn, most thought at first glance that he was a pure ichsa. Only on second glance did they note that he wasn't as slender as ichsas were, and he wasn't. It didn't bother him though, because it wasn't apparent what his lineage was, and that was fine with him. Even though he wasn't anywhere near the red mountains, they still made him very nervous, so he was still rather glad it wasn't apparent that the other half of his parentage was reya.
Pulling his thoughts away from such things, the brown-eyed crossbreed lifted his head from grazing and caught sight of the golden mare quite close to him. Well, he hadn't spoken to anyone in... quite a long time, so maybe it would be good to start? Maybe. "Hello there," he called cautiously, unsure if she would be one of those who disliked crossbreeds to the extent of running them off. That had happened on one or two occasions, but usually he could put off his size for a cross parent earlier in his lineage, thus his wings and horn being proper but his size being rather larger than usual for ichsas. Hopefully he could do the same if she disliked crossbreeds.

Etain blinked slowly as she regarded the treeline off in the distance, she was still pondering her earlier thoughts and hadn't really noticed how close her wandering had brought her to the stallion. Thus when he spoke the golden mare shied sideways in startlement for a few steps before collecting herself.
Her gaze finally cast upon him she pricked her ear's at teh pale beast, indeed his snowy hide was quite brilliant in the sun, tampered only by the chocolate mane and oddly patterned white and brown tail - not that she was anyone to speak of oddly colored tails she recollected with inward amusement as she nsapped her violet tail.
Pulling her attentions back to the stallion before her, an Ichsa by the looks of him - though perhaps a bit oddly proportioned. no matter really - she'd come here to socialize hadn't she? and here she was staring in dumb silence when the opportunity arose.
"Well hello there, you startled me I didn't know I'd wandered so close to someone, what I get for not paying attention I suppose"

He blinked and took a step back or two as she balked a bit; obviously he'd startled her, he didn't mean to, but probably from speaking so suddenly. Hopefully she wouldn't guess at the fact he was a crossbreed. He liked to know what someone's reaction to crossbreeds were before letting them know. As long as they didn't guess first, which they usually didn't. He wasn't fat, gods no, he was just... bulkier, not as slim and slender as pure ichsas were.
He bobbed his head a bit, bringing his thoughts away from his worries and offered a small smile as his brown eyes flitted over her. She was rather pretty, with simple coloring and patterns. He was a fan of simple, which was obvious if one looked at his simple coloring. But, he wasn't entirely sure what to say, he wasn't very good at conversations. "Hello, and I'm sorry I startled you, I didn't mean to." Well, what now? Oh, dear.
"My name is Cassius," he said with a slight bow, "what's yours?" Well, that was original, but effective. Oh dear, he was terrible at figuring out topics of conversation. Oh well, not much he could do but practice, humm?

Etain gave a chuckle as the stallion took a few steps back, mostly to hide her own embarrassment at being startled to begin with - and then for startling him, wasn't this meeting off to a grand start? he recovered quickly though, which she was grateful for, awkward silences in her experience never ended well. A reassuring look crossed her face and she she shook her head slightly.
"Oh no...completely my fault, was daydreaming...or something"
She trailed off as he continued speaking, ear's pricked as he gave his name, Cassius - it was a nice name, easy to remember. Etain always found it difficult when introduced to Mr crazylongname that no one could possibly spell, and sometimes said beasts didn't appreciate her shortened versions - or the nicknames she sometimes came up with. She didn't understand why, the nicknames always made perfect sense in her opinion. Realizing that the snowy stallion had not only lapsed into silence but apparently asked her a question Etain blinked and furiously tried to recall what it had been - since she hadn't been paying attention having been once again lost in her own inward discussion. Lemme see..he'd given his name....logic dictated he'd want her's now so we'll just go with that and hope we're right Etain decided, flashing a brilliant smile to make up for the extended silence.
"I'm Etain, it means shining one...or so I was told by a strange old Nequus in the hills. Do you come here often?"
What in the world had gotten her to babble on about the meaning of her name? like the steed would care, he'd probably think she was vain or some such thing, Etain gave a silent inward sigh and shuffled her hooves slightly under the guise of shifting her weight.

Well, she certainly was a bit... a bit... of a daydreamer, he supposed. She seemed to be lost in her thoughts more than aware of her surroundings, and rather unfocused on their conversation. He dipped his muzzle and offered a smile. "That's a nice name," he offered politely. Nice and simple, just like her coloring.
"And yes, I live here in D'ob. I don't often go many other places, I like it here. Peaceful, safe.." Yes, safe; far from the red mountains. An internal shiver ran down his spine at the thought, and he was again glad that part of his blood wasn't apparent.
"What about you? Do you come here often?" The curly haired cross asked, leaning down to nibble away an itch on his foreleg while part of his mane fell forward into his eyes. He snorted a bit, tossing his head once or twice to try and force it back in place but part of it was caught on his horn. Bother. Oh well.. He'd fix it later, if need be.

The golden Nequus smiled as he told her she had a nice name - it was always pleasant to be compliments after all - and it had been a while since she'd heard one, especially one directed at her. Listening to his response she wondered what danger made the creature state safety as a reason for being here - most didn't say such things out of the blue, they said it was pleasant, or they liked the grass or the company...safe wasn't one heard to often. Maybe he was just paranoid.
"I used to..when I was a foal"
she responded after a few moments, her mind was still somewhat caught up on his use of the word safe, had something terrible happened around here while she was gone or was it just this stallions personal problems?
"Pardon but what do you mean safe? is there some danger nearby you are hiding from?"
