This is the entrance to the X-Mansion. It is lightly decorated with antiques and artwork to give a homey feel to new and nervous students.

The world was changing. It had been for many years. Some people were evolving, homo-superior as some called it, or so Casey had heard. Still, when evolution takes place a fight of some sort breaks out between the old species and the new one. Part of Darwainism, after all. Like some butterflies in England. There were brown and black versions, but due to the brown tree bark, the black ones nearly died off. That was until England went industrial and the trees were covered with black soot. In which case, the few black ones ended up striving and living, while the brown were lost. There was no war between the butterflies though, at least not that Casey knew about. People however were different. Fights broke out, sometimes separation would come about - as if this were the 1960's between whites and blacks. However it wasn't just a stupid thing based on skin color anymore. Sure, it was still for stupid reasons, but not always so noticeable. Some looked completely normal, until they showed what they could do, while others had more beastly or mystical changes to them. Still, being from a fairly small Ontario town made it easy to ignore. People there knew that it was happening, but because it did not take place in their own area, well it was so easy to ignore. Casey himself was one of those people, until it happened in his town. Well, until it happened to himself. It was then when the entire reality of mutants came crashing down on Casey and his town, and it was at that point that tolerance for what hadn't been around before broke down to hate and fear. Even for one they all knew since childhood.

It was that reason why Casey was now sitting in a cab after about 10 hours on a train. He actually wish he knew about this special invitation when his parents first got the letter. He would have loved to take it and be gone from his home town a year ago. Still, he couldn't blame his parents for not wanting to send their underage kid off to a school five states away. Casey also couldn't blame them for hoping things would get better after enough time. They probably were shocked that Casey was treated like that once it was known he was a mutant. He sure was. Now though, here he was so far from home and not knowing anyone while not even heading off for college. He never really experienced a new school before. Yeah, he did change schools back home, but the area was small enough that it was always with the same group of kids.

Shame he hadn't brought with a longer book than Ender's Game by Card. Seemed like he finished it in no time, and with nothing else left to do, all he was stuck with was his thoughts on everything that had happened, and everything that was happening to him now. Finally though, his long journey had come to an end. The taxi stopped outside what looked more like a mansion than any sort of school Casey had seen. Seriously, the place was huge! Handing the driver the fair, they both climbed out of the vehicle. The trunk was popped, and Casey grabbed his two bags. One was a large backpack set mostly with his camping gear (his parents told him he should leave it behind, but he didn't want to miss out any chances to camp outside of the Midwest). The other was a fairly small bag filled with clothes. Shame his computer tower and monitor was too big to pack along.

Half mindlessly Casey thanked the driver, flung the backpack over his right shoulder, and picked up the other bag with his left hand and made his way to the door. Letting the pack balance just off his shoulder, he gave a knock, waited, then gave another knock. Go figure that no one in a building that big would hear him knocking. Being too nervous to think about the possibility of a door bell, Casey tried the handle and slowly pushed open the door. "Uh... Hello?" he cried out while slowly stepping in and closing the door. Oh man, this place looked even bigger from the inside. Just the one room alone seemed almost as big as the house he grew up in! The question now - as he let the bag in his left hand drop to the floor - was should he stay there and hope someone comes shortly, or would it be better to actually try and find someone?

x-x-x-x-x-xWhy yes, the world was, in fact changing, but the changes that were occurring had no longer been influenced by genetics alone. It was also people who played a large factor in the life styles of every other living thing on earth. People always had set a large impact on the development of the world. Segregation between races no longer dominated only because segregation between those who had a simple altercation in their genes had been seen as abominations.
x-x-x-x-x-xWell there was one man who had dedicated his life for those who believed otherwise. He was here to always protect and help these "barbaric mutants" when they would need it. Professor Charles Francis Xavier. He was changing history. With the first and only school for mutants having been a great success, Xavier could not help but feel elation everytime a new presence would enter. His doors were always opened, only the gates were locked. To protect the beings within his school walls from those who wished to hurt them off of his property. While they were within his quarters, though, he wouldn't let that happen. He couldn't.
x-x-x-x-x-xThe young boy had walked in, his height distinguishing the first thing between the Professor and he. But the boy had yet to notice the Professor. Advancing with closed eyes, and a hand on his steering contraption, Charles raced through Casey's mind, seeing all of the peaceful years he had in his home back in Canada, and then the life changing event. Yes, he was another one with undiscovered powers, and who had sought for safety and guidance. Welcome, my boy, the Professor had been swimming around in his mind for quite a while now, but hadn't given away his presence. As Xavier greeted Casey through telepathy, though, his lips would not have moved and Casey would hear the voice as an echo. It had a bit of an accent, some kind of European influence, perhaps?
x-x-x-x-x-x-"I am Charles Xavier, or as you may like to call me, Professor X. Welcome to my Institute,"- The Professor spoke, sitting in his wheelchair in the doorway perpendicular to the main corridor. -"You may pick up your bags and come with me, I'll have you sit in my office until we begin your paperwork."- He smiled, advancing forward to shake the hand of the seventeen year old Casey Zierden. Once Charles had been done examining his mind, he closed his eyes once again, but this time, sought one of the inhabitants of the building whom was already a student. Only, he wasn't a mutant.
x-x-x-x-x-xMichael... We have a new student. Cut the Session short and meet me in my office. Tell the students that if they'd like to see me, I'll be free in five minutes. The Professor received a weak, "Yes, Professor," in response, but he knew that Smithy had heard him and would do just that. Turning his chair around, Xavier smirked as he rolled down the large hallway to the left of the stairs at a steady pace. -"Aren't you coming, Mister Zierden?"- Came his humored tone. He loved to play mind games, but if not anything, it would get the boy to open up more. Xavier sensed a lot of potential in this male, but he had to make sure he would side with the X-Men before anything else.

--Tooo~... Hosnap... Do we have an office thread?
Sheesh... Well... Uhh... Lemme go fix that. ^^;;--

After just a few moments of standing there alone, he couldn't help but look around. The pace really was huge, and so nicely decorated too. Felt like his family should be rich to be sending him here, yet that was by no means the case. He was on full scholarship, and really he was wondering how many people could actually afford to attend a private school that was housed in such a building. The high ceiling, lovely paintings. Even vases and fresh looking flowers on tables. As his head moved about the room, that's when he noticed the man coming towards him in the wheel chair, and it was right at that moment he received a welcome. All the same, the man's lips had not moved, and it also sounded a bit odd. Odd in a sense that Casey couldn't quite pin point. Still, that caused him to look around the room once more, this time not noticing the fine decorations, but looking for someone else int he room to offer him a greeting. There was none.

Then the introductions began, and Casey was really starting to feel freaked out and nervous. Eyes fell upon the man, Charles Xavier, and noticed that he was talking with a voice matching the one he heard earlier. But, I coulda sworn his lips didn't move before, Casey thought to himself. Maybe he just imagined it. Grabbing his duffel with his left hand and slinging his pack back up on his right shoulder, Casey stepped forward and smiled - albeit with a hint of nervousness - and brought his right hand up and shook the Professor's hand. "Nice to meet you, I'm Casey Zierden though you probably expected that." No, Casey had no idea yet what Xavier could do, he simply figured that they knew he was coming and would show up today. After all, he was signed up as a new student in this place. Did he say paperwork? If there had been more paperwork to do, I wished they could have mailed it to me and let me do it on the train here!

The professor wheeled around, and Casey followed, albeit slowly. Once more he was back looking around the room while half thinking back to hearing 'Welcome, my boy,' from a man he could have sworn never even opened his mouth. It was the sound of his real voice that brought him back to reality once more though. "Oh, yeah Professor." In a few quick strides, he took place on the professor's right. Again, he was looking around the hall they were now moving, but mostly his mind now was on the Professor as he started up on questions. "Is this really a school? It seems rather nice... For a school I mean, not that I've really ever been to any sort of boarding school before. Plus, for housing students it seems a bit quiet..." He let his sentence die off. One of those lovely times when people mean to say more, but don't and simply expect the other person to fully grasp what they were going to say.

To... Well the office whenever 648 makes it
Wait, I can make it now, can't I?
