I dunno, sometimes I think they're really cute but can't describe why. Maybe its their paws or cute little eyes that stare at you x3

As one person said, the head and eyes. Also their behavior to seem weak and vunerable activates our nuturing side. I saw an article on it for chihauhau's, I love human behaviors.
Personally though, for me, without the research behind it, looks {markings, eyes, ect.}, and personality. Also features.
We have a lil cocker spaniel who I nicknamed "lil girl", and she has a baggy face with white splashing here and there, and it gives her SUCH a bloody adorable face gonk

actions and faces make an animal cute to me. my little eastern milk snake pretends to be a rattler when he is feeling tough. he vibrates his tail agaisnt his house and its adorable.
also all my geckos are adorable because well, they are geckos
i love it when a small animal tries to act tough. one of my yunger leopard geckos bites all the time and has even tried to eat me. i found it adorable
big eyes and tough actions are cute to me
