Benjamin Baenare is a famous writer, the island's owner and host of the workshops. Benjamin is aging gracefully and retains a rather wry sense of humor about life and it's struggles. He is patient man and does his best to be pleasant and sociable with the writers coming to his workshops. There is an air of mystery about him though and something indescribable that flashes in his eyes from time to time.

Charlie Fisher is the groom in charge of the stables. He's a quiet young man who seems content with the slow pace of island life.

Daniel Baxter is an old friend of Benjamin who now regularly ferries supplies and mail to his island. At his friend's request he has agreed to bring the workshop attendees to the island so as to give Benjamin a heads up on anything of interest he may note about them on the trip over.
