Cabbage Care

Vesale closes the door as the delivery van drives away from the mansion. In his arms is a green vegetable. A cabbage to be precise, a rather large cabbage actually. This cabbage was his child. So with great care and strain, he carefully transported the cabbage from the entrance of his home to the kitchen table, not to eat of course, but so he could get himself a drink and analyze the set of instructions he'd received.

"So," he said as he sat back down next to the cabbage. "To make you grow into a baby, I have to care for you. But... how do I care for a cabbage?" That was the million dollar question to Vesale. He wasn't really sure what to do. "Well, we can always try things out," and try they would.

The mansion that Vesale lives in is home to many things. One of those many things happened to be a vegetable place, and the feline man thought this would be the perfect place to start his cabbage care.

With some old clothes on, Vesale knelt gently on a blank patch of land between two tomato plants. I hope it doesn't mind being between two tomatoes, he thought idly to himself.

After he was done fretting, Vesale ran off to the small, run down shed that held all their gardening tools, and grabbed himself a spade, watering can and some fencing before returning to the small plot and his 'child'. "Let's give you a bit of water then," he spoke to the vegetable. He dug a shallow hole in the dirt and placed the cabbage inside. Then, he got the watering can and gently drizzled some moisture over it's lush green leaves. Finally, he erected a small barrier around the cabbage, to keep out small animals in case he wasn't watching. Then, happy with his job, he layed himself next to the cabbage and stared up at the sky. "Is this okay?" He asked the cabbage, sure there would be no reply. I hope I'm doing this right, he wondered to himself.

Not sure if the garden type thing was what he was meant to do, Vesale was happy to try some other methods on the cabbage. One of those methods was reading it a story. In one arm he carried the cabbage, in the other, an array of kids books as well as a blanket and some small pillows.

He entered one of the few sitting rooms that were available in the house and first, lay out the rug. He then arranged the pillows on the rug, finally placing the cabbage on top, thinking it would comfortable like that. He stretched himself out in a cat like manner next to the vegetable and opened a page...
