Number one favourite: Jim Carrey, hands down. He's simply in a league of his own, so to speak. I'm super disappointed that almost nobody mentioned him.
Other favourites:
-- Steve Martin (absolutely nobody mentioned him, I think. What the helllll, guys?! He's universally considered to be one of the very best comedians of all time. Watch his older stuff: it's worth the effort.)
-- Lenny Bruce
-- George Carlin
-- Tina Fey (SO underrated!)
-- Robin Williams
-- Jerry Seinfeld
-- Richard Pryor
-- Woody Allen
-- Bill Cosby
-- &, although I definitely think he's overrated, I still gotta include Chris Rock
