What I mean when I say this that is how much of what scientists pass off as fact is able to be completly prooven wrong or too open to contraversy to be called fact.
A perfect example of this is when scientists said we would never fly,or when they said we would never go the speed of sound, completly forgetting the fact that they said we would never fly in the first place.
So ask you to share these thoughts here with me.
DENY SCIENCE ITSELF!!!

anything can be proved or disproved. who knows, in (insert number here) years from now, EVERYTHING we now think of as hard solid proven scientific FACT could be completely disproven.
the possibilities are endless. for all we know everything is wrong
i might be bordering on philosophy here but if you think about it its impossible to prove anything. seeing isnt always believing, for example magicians tricks appear to happen but it's all smoke and mirrors. i'm not saying scientific experiments are magic tricks but could just be illusions or something LIKE that that we just dont realise. that and science isnt in a completely finished state, we are always progressing and researching and learning more things. there could be variables which scientists are as of yet unaware of.
if you watch something, it could be a trick or illusion or something similar.
even if you do something for yourself, the same goes.
for example...move your arm.
u KNOW your arm just moved right?
why? because you remember it.
but memories aren't 100% reliable, your mind could just have made it up. just like some dreams feel real.
basically we NEVER have proof because it can always be disproven. and if it can be disproven then theres a chance it may not be fact.

Science is a try to understand the world and its principles. It has never said "You will not fly" - this can't be even called a fact, only an opinion. A fact is something that can be proved somehow, and the only thing proved impossible to do is "You can't do something if you have not got enough resources for it". Who can deny that? smile

i agree with you anton

simple statments such as you can... or you cant... can easily be disproven
unless you cover enough variables
but even then, as i said previously ANYTHING can be disproven

Nyxielle has some very valid points. And the nature of science isn't really to prove anything. Take for instance the theory of relativity. As far as we know that stands true, but that's only because we haven't come up with something else that disproves it. Scientific theory is mainly just a solid stance that hasn't been disproved by any other knowledge that we have today.

We aren't infinitely smart beings
We make mistakes

Science seeks to explain everything, but you can't really prove something, because it's always out to scrutiny. Everything in science is well tested, and we have revolutions when we see something's wrong

But saying to deny science because sometimes we find ourselves wrong is like saying don't eat food because you'll just get hungry again

I honestly think that is the best simile I have ever heard.

rofl gotta love that sentence <33.
there's a valid point behind it too.
we ARE only human(or are we? ninja rofl) and that means we ARE prone to mistakes and there may be holes in our logic/thinking no matter how qualified we are, no matter how many years we've been educated or how much we paid for that or how prestigeous the school or how many letters we have after our name.

razi_tobias: eek wowww! someone that acctually agrees with me on something razz usually people either dont understand a word that i say (type?) or think im weird/crazy/insane/stupid o.0. i KNEW my thoughts made sense somehow biggrin

i can tell the men in white coats to leave me alone now ahaha
i DO think wayy too much though...its scary.
