During spring break I went to San Fran and saw an amazing show that was verry steampunky called Teatro Zinzanni. It also had crazy awesome acrobatics. http://love.zinzanni.org/ I definatelly recomend it to anyone that goes there. There is also one in Seattle. Has anyone else been to it or any other steampunk-like show? PS: I found this video, the performance here is done somewhere else. but this is the same routine and performers I saw in the same costumes at Teatro. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JVtTwP1xaaQ

Oh my goodness that was amazing!
They must be wearing some special shoes though, or their feet would slip a bit~ Kind of like rock climbing shoes maybe, with that odd rubber sole?

I'm honestly surprised and disappointed at the lack of Steampunk in Vancouver. The only thing we really have here is the Steam Clock in Gastown. We do have hundreds and hundreds of antique shops, thrift stores, and consignment stores, though.
That show looks amazing. I would love to see it - now if I could only rig a trip to California.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I live in a medium sized town in Florida, so there's nothing steampunk around me. I went there on a trip with my choir, and I was in heaven. Some of the choir was wierded out by the show, and everyone knew that this was my kind of thing. One of the girls in the choir told me she could see me working there, which would be really cool.

The thing is Vancouver is a huge city, and you'd really think there would be more. I'm going to do some footwork and make a list of Steampunk locals in Vancouver. I can't help but feel that if I do a little digging, I'll find something wonderful.
The closest I've come to seeing something that was truely Steampunk was a gypsy punk band called Gogol Bordello (Try and find the song Start Wearing Purple and look at some pictures of the band). That night was absolutely insane. People were dressed in straight-up Kit, and it was a complete night of revelry.

If it is anything like to poles I worked with on the one cirque show that came through, there might also be a light adhesive on it, enough to stick to for direct pressure, but not enough to keep you stuck on the slides, etc. Plus they are crazy strong, like tear a phonebook in half with their pinkies strong.

You're in Vancouver? Cool! Gastown is awesome, and all I remember is that amazing steam clock, from that last time I was there.

I own many a purple shirt in their honour.

Did anyone catch the Steam Punk Fashion show at Anime North? Apparently it was put together very quickly, but it was quite well done. The costumes were gorgeous, and all of them had an indepth back story.
