Ugh. I'm on drill team (as you should know from my forums), and almost everyone, except me and a few others on drill team, is a Sergeant because they got COTM (Cadet of the Month) even though I should have gotten to Sergeant. And, if they brag about it and keep urking me, I'm joining Color Guard.

im not familiar with army ranks, but i know that there is more to a person than their rank. if they wave it in your face and brag about it then they probably dont deserve it. they should wear their rank with dignity and so should you.
a great leader is not made by their rank but their experience. just do your best and don't let your rank keep you down.

I do wear my rank with pride. It's just when one person does better than me, they HAVE to rub it in my face. I agree. They DON'T deserve those ranks.

don't put your emotion in it. and they shouldn't either, emotion interferes with command decisions. you must look at everything objectively. look at your problem, running away from it isnt going to solve it. you can try and tell them how you feel about it, or bring it up the chain of command. It's your superiors job to make sure everything is running smoothly.

There's nothing wronge with that, exept for the bragging part. I jumped from the an Airman to a 2nd Lt. in my first year. Then I got demoted to Senior Airman and then promoted to 1st lieutenant. Everyone hated me for that xd

biggrin some very good points are made and some very good advice given, my daughter was in that same position one year and reported it thru the chain of command, if they hadn't of done anything I WOULD have taken it to the school it self(the school board can deny JROTC programs), now rank has to be earned the hard way and if it's abused then it's rank busting time and it's done..................... so at least report it, then wait and see what happens, keep your chin up and be proud of who YOU are! biggrin

Don't worry about it, rank is irrelevant. Also, a c/SGT rank isn't that prestigious. You have no leadership opportunities and you have no extra privileges than a c/CPL. You should rub it in their faces that you are in Color Guard. It is an honor to be in that position. I know how you feel though. I am a sophomore going in to junior year and my next year's position is c/MSG Assistant S-4 and they gave the same position to a freshman (going in to sophomore year) with the exception that he will be a c/SFC. Mind you this cadet has no experience in this field. The fact that they put him with me is both undermining my authority and giving me dead weight. I am still very upset over the whole matter.

Don't worry about rank. This year was my first year in army jrotc and the ONLY reason I got c-sgt is because my orginal one got kicked out of the program and they didn't have anyone else to put in my squad at the moment. Wear your rank with pride, JROTC IS about opportunies and even getting a chance to lead when your not a high rank is special, I tried to help as much as I could.

that happens within programs honestly. you always get those fw individuals who think because they are so high that they should flaunt it. don't worry about them honestly just worry about yourself. do what you have to do and ignore them. thats what i did:]

I'm on drill team with arms for MCJROTC. I must say...It doesn't matter what rank you are because everybody is friends with one another right? I mean unless your enlisted superior is like a super stiff and follows that fraternization law. Like what other people say, rank doesn't mean s**t. Its the beast of a leader that you are that matters.
