I've noticed lately, probably because I'm getting OLD, that my skins texture is really rough. It doesn't look bad from afar, but when I get up close to pluck my eyebrows and such, you can see that it's not smooth at all. It's also quite dry and flakey.

Sucky thing is that our new house has well water. The minerals are 1005 ppm, meaning you can chip a tooth drinking it. (Just for reference, the government recommends 500 ppm, and the city water at my brother in laws is 50 ppm.) Hard water means dry skin. emo

I've no idea what to do. All my creams (Kiss My Face, Pure & Natural and Earth Science) don't do anything about the dryness and end up being really greasy.

Anyone have any ideas, suggestions, tips for me?

coconut oil is supposed to be highly moisturizing, but it's also has a high comogenic (mispelled badly) rating, which means it'll clog pores and lead to all sorts of yuck.

In my natural beauty book, jojoba oil is recommended for all skin types and grapeseed oil for oily types, almond oil is for sensistive types. Just dab a few drops and massage into your skin to moisturize it.

Thanks onicoe! I would like to get some jojoba oil for my nails, so I'll give it a try one my face too. I tried coconut butter, which worked nicely for a few weeks and then got my face icky. Eh, regardless of the product, it always seems to work wonders until the bottle is half full and then it conks out on me.

xd xd xd xd You made me snortle my broccoli sprouts from my veggie sandwich.

I'm really terrible at eating very light "healthy" foods. I do eat avocados in the summer and I love butter, but I guess I still need more. Any suggestions? (And suggestions on how to eat it?)

Syera's right. The best way to fix anything is from the inside.

Well water where I live is a good thing. Although we have a filter on the faucet, I don't often use it for drinking water---the minerals here are good for you! You may find that the same is true where you live. I do tend to use the filter more often if we have flooding rains in the spring and fall, like we're having now, because all our neighbors are uphill from us and the well casing only goes down 50 feet. Although we've never had a problem, I'd just rather not take a chance of drinking what's in the fields uphill from me.

Cod liver oil and eggs in your diet make for some really beautiful skin----and a very healthy brain.
