If you still want glowing Zydrate, try these little guys in blue: http://www.extremeglow.com/Merchant4/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=1W&Category_Code=112

They are kind of small, but boy do they look real. Awesome bonus: I use hot glue and judgmental timing to stick these to my skin for raves. They don't melt and are harder to break open than glow bracelets/necklaces.

PICTURE TUTORIAL FOR GLOWJUICE: http://majiran.deviantart.com/art/Potable-Glow-Tutorial-121707540

How to dissect a glow stick:
There are two ways.
1: Snap glowstick, cut open, pour through wire kitchen filter, et voila.

2: WITHOUT SNAPPING GLOWSTICK, cut all the way around the top, above the liquid line, and remove the cap. Pour out all of the clear outer fluid into a small, clear container with a screwcap and seal it. Label it "1" Set aside.
Carefully slide out the unbroken ampoule. Thoroughly rinse the ampoule (until it doesn't feel oily) and place in a ziploc bag, sealing while leaving a little air inside.
Wrap the ziplock in a washcloth or towel or other thick, flexible material.
Feel for the ampoule through the plastic bag while holding it away from you; carefully break the ampoule.
The bag should now have several pieces of glass and an amount of clear liquid in it. Rotate the bag so that any liquid is away from one corner, then make a tiny cut across the corner (like it is an icing squeeze). Pour the liquid through the hole and into a small, clear container. Label this one "2".

Now you have two small, clear containers with clear liquid in them, seemingly identical. But as soon as you pour one into the other- voila!

#1 is Phenyl Oxalate.
#2 is Hydrogen Peroxide and the company's special secret ingredients for the dye.
For both chemicals, in blue glowsticks at least, there is little chance of staining, toxicity, or allergies.

Another trick: You can delay the reaction while combining it in one container. After pouring off #1 into its container, slowly add water until the total volume is twice its beginning volume. The water is less dense than the Phenyl Oxalate, thus it floats. Now, VERY slowly, add #2. The ampoule mix is less dense than the water, but just barely- so it forms a 'hammock' on top of the water and seems to poke down toward #1 at the bottom. You will see that the water makes a cushion separating them, and as long as it is handled carefully they will not mix.
When Zydrate is required, just shake vigorously! It will glow intensely, then dim slightly. After several moments of nonmovement, the water will separate to the top and the happily glowing chemicals will be at the bottom and at their normal glowing capacity. This lasts as long as a regular glowstick.

Also giving off the 'glow' of Zydrate is quinine, when exposed to ultraviolet light. While quinine cannot be bought in most countries without a prescription, Canada Dry's Tonic Water has the same effect because it is flavored with quinine:

Wow, that's crazy and awesome. XD Thanks so much for posting that. I'm definitely going to have to try some of these methods.
