“Cheeeeck,” Xigbar drawled out as he made a giant swooshing movement with his hand in the air, eye directly on Axel. The man was talking to Roxas and to him it seemed more than just a friendly chat.

Luxord pointed at Marluxia, “Check, check, and check!” The Assassin was wearing a pink shirt underneath his half open cloak while he gingerly plucked petals from a rose he was holding. It wasn’t only that, but he was sitting rather close to Zexion.

Xigbar jabbed his elbow into Luxord, “Check-a-roo.” His finger was directing toward Demyx who was scrubbing the floors before Xaldin, the pitiful waterboy was practically going between Xaldin’s legs with his determined work.

It was at this moment in time that Saïx entered, brow creased as he scanned the members with anger. His eyes landed on Luxord and Xigbar, almost displeased that they were sitting there and weren’t doing anything productive. Then again, it was those two, they hardly did anything worth dirt on his shoe.

Luxord and Xigbar sat stony faced, expressions not moving as Saïx made his way past them. Once the Berserker passed Luxord wiggled his eyebrows at Xigbar, “Just wait until Xemnas gets in here. I can’t wait.”

Xigbar nodded, “You said it.”

Their Superior arrived on the spot, coming in with a small smile on his face as he noticed Demyx being productive on the floor. “Good job, Demyx. Xaldin, wonderful idea in helping Demyx perfect his cleaning skills.”

Xigbar frowned, “Would that count as a check?”

Luxord shrugged, “Let’s keep watching.”

Xemnas moved past Marluxia and Zexion, “Marluxia, are you helping Zexion with something?”

Zexion had been reading when he heard his name. The boy quickly snapped his attention to Xemnas and saw what Marluxia had been doing. How did the Superior not see those things? Was it not obvious? “Um….yes, he is.”

Marluxia nodded, “Oh, absolutely.”

Xemnas gave a cheerful smile in return, though it seemed almost vacant as if the Superior wasn’t completely there. “Wonderful, keep up the good work.”

Luxord touched his beard quizzically, “Almost…maybe half a check.”

“So…a backslash?”

“Yeah.”

Xemnas smiled at Axel and Roxas, “Wonderful discussion, keep it up. Next you can teach him how to fight after he learns some charismatic skills from you.”

Xigbar gave a small snort, ready to yell out ‘check’ when Saïx was back over there, looming like a hungry panther.

“Superior, I’ve been looking for you.”

Xemnas saw Saïx and lost his smile, turning to a more serious look, “What is it, Saïx?”

“I was curious about our progress on Kingdom Hearts.”

“Well, it’s fuller than it was yesterday. I can assume you were hard at work at night?”

Saïx opened his mouth before his glaring demeanor turned to a thoughtful smile, “I…wouldn’t give myself all the credit for that.”

“Nonsense, you’re the only one who prowls around when everyone is asleep. I can fully depend on you to work a nightshift without even being asked, and you bring a smile to my face each time I wake up to see Kingdom Hearts glowing brighter than when I had last laid eyes upon it.”

“Thank you, Superior. It’s…a pleasure to hear those words from you.”

Xigbar and Luxord were biting their lips, snorting and wincing as they talked. It was too much, they couldn’t hold it in any longer.

“I’m glad you think that way.”

“CHEEECCCCCKKK!!” Xigbar and Luxord both screamed, falling over and laughing at the two. Saïx’s glorious smile had quickly turned to anything but happy, and Xemnas was staring at the two members rather confused.

“Check?” Xemnas questioned once the two had regained themselves.

Luxord rubbed at his beard as he composed himself, “Yes, Superior, we Check’d you.”

“Check’d…me?”

Xigbar smirked, “Would you like to see it re-enacted?”

Saïx glared, “Don’t mind if I do.” Yes. Answer for the Superior.

Xigbar smirked before Luxord and him dove behind the couch, whispered a bit before Xigbar reappeared, walking around aimlessly. Luxord came out from the other end, brooding when he saw Xigbar, his eyes sparkling at the sight of the man. He skipped over and bumped into Xigbar. “Superior!! I was loooooking for yooooou!”

Xigbar fixed his hair and gave a few blinks to Luxord before smiling, “Why, Saïx! It’s you, my cute little wittle puppy! What does my luvvy wuvvy want?”

Luxord panted a bit, “KINGDOM HEARTS!!!”

“KIIIIINGDOOOM HEARRRRTTTSSSS!”

“YEAH YEAH YEAH!!”

Saïx was glaring at them, face turning red as he wanted to punch both of them to death. He refrained as Xemnas was still watching with interest.

“Why, Saïx, it’s going wonderful! And you want to know why?” Xigbar latched onto Luxord, doing a dramatic pose before bending him over, “It’s all because of you.”

Luxord smirked, “Oh Superior…those words from your mouth…they turn me on like the moon’s powers. Let’s do it right here.”

“Yes, let’s.”

Xigbar set Luxord back into position before smiling, “And that’s why you get a check.”

Xemnas frowned, brow creasing before his eyes went over to Saïx, “We need to talk if that’s what you’re getting from all of this.”

Saïx gapped. “Superior, that’s not…” Xemnas had already moved off and Saïx sighed. “One of these days…you two will pay…” Glowing yellow eyes turned back onto them.

The two were leaning against each other, smirking at their accomplishment.

“Hey, just because you’re jealous of our skills,” Xigbar replied and Luxord nodded in agreement.

Saïx stared at them before pointing at their position. He did a slow ‘check’ mark in the air with his finger, “Two can play that game.” He then turned and walked off.

Xigbar and Luxord stared at each other, noticing their arrangement of hands and other limbs. Quickly they pulled apart and brushed themselves off. “Aw ********, he totally got us there.”

Luxord frowned, “You shouldn’t be so grabby.”

“Whatever, you started it.”

“I think he was ‘checking’ you anyway, he’d never do that to me.”

The two walked off arguing, leaving the rest of the group in quiet peace until the next round of ‘Checks!’ came along.
