"Gah... Stupid wine..."
It had been more than two days since John had foolishly chugged an entire glass of Chris's most potent wine and he was still feeling the effects. He wandered the fields, trying to "walk it off", as some people say, but it was to little avail. The only thing walking did was make John feel slightly nauseous. Groaning softly, he plopped down on the grass of the fields surrounding Ratatosk Keep.
This sure was a nice place, he thought. It was warm and sunny, but a cooling breeze kept him from baking. Smiling slightly, he already began to feel better.

Akari had just moved into the Crew Quarters of Noble Symphonia. For the longest while she was had stayed in Barton with her mother. Josie was reluctant to let her go, not used to her daughter not being around for an extended amount of time. Plus, with all of the Animated running around, she was afraid she was unsafe. However, she had been spending more and more time at noble Symphonia and it was more convenient for her to be there. The travel from Barton was much too long.
She was fairly new but she had advanced quickly, becoming the first crew member. She had chosen a room on top floor, making sure it was the largest. Her room was nice and Noble Symphonia was nice on the whole but she was lonely, having no other crew member in her building as of yet. So, she headed onto the field, figuring that maybe a few members would be out there training.

Had John been paying attention, he would have seen Akari wandering about. He'd invite her to sit, chat, and maybe even partake in a training session.
However, that would be assuming that John was paying attention. Which, as some members of the clan may not know, is assuming a lot in their young leader. He was sprawled out on the soft field, a smile on his face as he basked in the sunshine.

Akari was not surprised to see John lounging on the sprawling field. It was a really nice day, the light breeze catching the hem of her dress. She closed her umbrella and walked towards him, using the tip to give him a slight prod in his side.
"The life of a Captain. Looks nice." she commented gently with a smile before popping her umbrella open again. "Sorry to interrupt."

John jumped a bit at the contact. Who the heck was poking him in the middle of a field? He rolled into a sitting position and looked up. Oh, it was Akari. Smiling at her comment, he replied "Yes, it is very relaxing."
With his knees on the ground, he sat on his legs and smiled up at her. "So, what brings Noble Symphonia's only crew member out to the field today, hmmm?"

"Curiosity." she mumbled before taking a seat on the grass. She smoothed her dress out and then looked at him with a smile. "I just moved in last night so I am giving myself a tour of this place. The rooms are really nice. It's a bit lonely but it should fill up soon. " she said.
"Anything important going on today?" she asked. Akari was ready for work already. She could never sit still for too long, her legs beginning to buzz when she did so.

"Today, uhm... hmmm..."
John tried to bring to mind what was actually planned for today. There were ideas, to be sure. Ally wanted to go through the kitchen and take stock of what the clan would need in case of an emergency. Chris had mentioned that Landshark attacks were becoming rampant on Gold Beach, so they had tossed around trying to hunt Landsharks. And both Chris and Ally were determined to see who was the better chef with a "cook-off" of which John would be the taste-tester.
"Ya know... I don't really know if we have anything going on today." he said with a nervous chuckle. "Chris and Ally really do most of the planning, I'm afraid."

"Oh." Akari said, somewhat deflated. She had hoped she would be given a job, wanting to get to work right away. It looked as though she would be doing some more field work again. She didn't mind fieldwork. She loved hanging out on the beach or even in the old Otami Ruins. There was almost something new to see and new people to meet.
"I think I may head down to the Old Aqueduct today then. I have been looking out for those Landstriders for a few days now. I want one of their stingers as a prize. Maybe take some pictures too and notes on them. I am hoping to get a full report on them."

Her leader perked up at this news. "A full report on those things would be great!" he exclaimed excitedly. "Any useful information that we can add to the archives would be a huge asset!"
Smiling more now, he felt comfortable with throwing out another idea. "Say, uhhh... Now that the weather's getting nice, Chris and I were thinking that the clan could take a day off and spend the day at the beach. What do you think?" he asked.

Akari smiled at the idea. She loved working but a day off would be wonderful as well. "I love Gold Beach." she commented. There were quite a few Animated that hung around there but they were nothing serious. Not the fluffs anyway. The golems had a tendency to pop up and cause some problems but that was only when you traveled towards the northwest side of the beach. Not much people went their anyway.
"There is a bonfire that is always going their late at night. The locals are always throwing parties and they are usually friendly. We could have a barbecue." No matter what idea was proposed, Akari always had a little something extra to throw in.

A barbacue? Perfect! John absolutely loved ribs glazed in barbecue sauce. The mere thought of lounging on the beach with some ribs and a cool drink was enough to make John drool. Wiping his mouth, he nodded excitedly.
"That would be an amazing idea!" he exclaimed, agreeing wholeheartedly with his friend. "Though, we should be careful. I accidentally tripped into the bonfire a few days ago..."

"Ugh, I know what you mean." she said with a sigh. "The Spouts can ruin the moment too. They always come out at night and mess with anyone who goes near the water. I kill a few but there is just so many of them. They keep coming back." she frowned. The Animated had been putting a damper on things lately.
"Wonder what it looks like back home." she said softly more to herself than him Aekea was the more industrial area in Gaia. It was rough but she still missed it. It was home. "So where are you originally from?" Usually she talked with John about clan matters. She still did not know much about him.

"Me? I'm actually from Barton. Ian jokes around that I'm best customer!" John replied with a laugh.
He smiled inwardly. There was just something about Barton that brought him a sense of inner peace. It wasn't super busy like Isle de Gambino or funny-smelling like Durem. He could sit on a bench, idly watch people go by and smell the midsummer air.
"That reminds me. Those Animated have really done a number on my Musketeer armor. I better go and see if Ian can do some repairs..."

"Oh really? My mother and I had moved down there last November because Aekea was much to dangerous to stay. I like Barton but mom doesn't. She thinks it is too quiet at night but I like it. There are a lot of nice people around and the bar has the best food.
Akari stood when he mentioned getting his armor fixed and dusted off her dress lightly. "I better be going as well. I'm eager to get onto that field work. Plus, I did promise mom I would stop by and help her find a job. She could work on Housing from Barton but it is too dangerous. No one is really moving to Gaia these days. So, I'll see you around?"
