Very nice description, thar! =3

Yes, I adore both the songs, they're just wonderful. <333

My Phantom that I saw on Broadway, kinda' did that same thing as BL did while Christine was singing - he was kinda' nervous, or trying to keep away for some reason until she touched him and then he just kinda' froze and was almost shaky. Well, maybe not shaky, but he was trying to keep his cool for a while. ^^ I liked my Phantom, but from talk of this Brad Little guy - I'm curious.

I also noticed, with Gerry in the 2004!Phantom, during Music of the Night, the build up was obvious. They did have a distance, and finally before the 'floating, falling ...' Christine seemed so enchanted and he had this look, as if he was ready to show her he wanted her as well, but almost liked he dipped his toe into the water just to make sure. And then in PONR, he's reeeeally not caring to dip his toe sometimes, he's diving in headfirst.

Music of the Night is about sex, though; but, not to the degree that Point of No Return is. The film, of course, plays up anything and everything sensual in the play, so your friend was not wrong in thinking so.

Actually....(and I'm taking this from some one else on the phan guild but I don't remember who) Music of the Night is more of a "Oh I'm the phantom, see how sad I am....love me anyways?" and Point of No Return is more of a "You! Pants off! NOW!"

AUGHHH! My OLC soundtrack cut out the best line of MOTN!! "Close your eyes for your eyes only tell the truth..." crying I love that line the most of all others in the soundtrack! (well, maybe except for Bravo monsiuer, and AIAOY reprise...but still.)

No one's said anything about the title song, I notice. Welllll.
"The phantom of the opera is there, inside my mind," the high notes at the end...there's definitely a sexual element to that too.

I like the end of the song in this video with Colm Wilkinson and Lisa Vroman:

(Colm's voice is actually growing on me, surprisingly. I used to hate his singing.)

Also, y'all should check out the original lyrics to MotN (the ones used at the Sydmonton performance, again with Colm Wilkinson...has this been posted about? I'm experiencing deja vu)...they're, er, interesting.

full lyrics here

"An instrument of pleasure..." ~immature giggle~
I have to admit I really like this version, even though Charles Hart's lyrics flow much better.

I disliked like how they did MotN in the '04 movie, and I really hate how they did PonR. I mean, the musical is not exactly subtle to begin with, but the sleeves falling off shoulders and the feeling up and the cleavage and the everything was just too much.

why yes i am still posting in three yr old threads

edit: Okay, I was right, the Sydmonton lyrics have been mentioned before...whatever
