Ok, so I’m starting a love story and if you can help me with this one question, I’ll be able to start writing it properly. I've asked this to everyone I know and its probably the most obvious question, but so far I've got nothing so:
If there were something to separate two lovers, meaning that they couldn't be together even though they loved one-another, what would this reason be?
Yes it seems a little romeo-and-juliet'ie, but hey, I want to give this a go. Please contribute with any ideas.
Thank you biggrin

An arranged marriage isn't necessarily determined by religion. It's often an ethnic or even a family custom. This seems like a pretty significant plot point that you should be coming up with on your own because it could really change your characters or your other ideas. I think an arranged marriage could be a possibility, or family differences (although that might make it too Romeo and Juliet-like). Maybe an obligation, like one had a child with another person or was already married. There are infinite possibilities...

maybe someone has a new job that transfers them out of town?
or maybe there has been a tragic misunderstanding that forces one of them to leave town - accused of a crime/accused of an affair etc.

They can be seperated because one has no money poor and is nothing special to the eye and the other could be rich and strong and beautiful and are ashamed to amitt to others that they are in love.
or One could be in war
it depends on the ages and stuff though

I should have been a pair of ragged claws
Well, I'm not a romance buff, but I can shoot you some basics:
Age difference One is already married They have jobs that require being on different ends of the world/country One works for a secret agency/the military and has to go on a top secret mission thing Racial/religious difference Moral values Insecurities Class difference Both are poor and need to marry for money Parents generally disapprove
Scuttling across the floors of silent seas
