If she looked her age (30-40 years old), then I would have to say no, I wouldn't think it was appropriate. Sweet loli ideally suits ages up to mid twenties really. If you look much older than that, it stops looking like a fashion, and more like a fetish/play costume.

If she is 30-40 yrs but looks much younger, then it's fine.

Of course, this is just my opinion, people can choose to wear what they want to, but I just think it may not look good on them!

I plan to be that woman. 3nodding I'm in my mid 20s now, and I have a son... I'm still lolita.

[~Ama Lolita~]
*polaris
I think it'd be rather interesting to see. XD Normally you don't see older women dressed like that. I'm not against it, but it would be interesting. Like seeing an amish family shopping at a grocery store sort of interesting.

That's what I thought too. Do Amish people go to the grocery store? I thought they grew their own food.

I once saw an amish couple at the grocery store.

I saw a 47 or so year old wearing ama-loli at Onejuku a few days ago. O:

I'd think it were cute. I don't think what a person wears has anything to do with who they are as a person so there's no point judging them by it. I don't know much about lolita but I do know goth is all about what's inside a person, and that doesn't take on different meanings with age so I don't see why clothing should.

Lcukily i'm a really small person and don't plan on having kids, so i'll be able to get away with it for a lot longer. although i'm not sure how it would go over if my clients noticed me going around in frilly dresses. sweatdrop i might have to think about that...

I don't think you ever get too old for Classic or anything elegant, but a forty-year-old woman in a crazy frills-and-froufrou pink cupcake dress might look a little strange to me. If she was wearing something more tailored and mature, I think it would be fine-- you can pull that stuff off at any age, I think.

I'd propably run and attack-hug her. I love seeing older people in Lolita, like this woman in volume 23 of the G&L bible. If you have volume 23, I will say now that I DO NOT MEAN THE ONE IN BLUE.

Yes... anyway, I'll probably be like that some day. I don't think age makes a difference.

I dont know what safeway is? But I think it dosn't matter age. My mom dresses in lolita with me, though usualy gothloli not amaloli; she's 46.
She usualy just dresses a mix of casual loli or Visual Kei, but sometimes she dresses up with me!

Hmm, yea But I think even if we didn't have similar interests we would be close, just maybe not as close. It's easier to be close because we go shopping together, share clothes, go to concerts and all that stuff. She's barely like my mom, more of a classmate/friend almost sweatdrop

My brother, who is 30 (we have different dad's and my mom had him when she was young) dresses in punk and visual kei styles often. His wife, who is 27 still dresses in goth aristo and loli on occasion; but not often. I really think that if someone wants to wear it, then it's fine. Fashion is all about personal expression.

xD I'm close with my mom, but she's so... cheesy. Her mind is back with the 80's music. And she does a lot of silly embarassing stuff. D: I would still go places with her though, but with style and music we're not similar. mad

I love sweet lolita fashion, I'm 26 and I have no intention of stopping in a few years just because other people think I should biggrin

I don't think age matters at all for fashion. Who really cares if you're not a model? I intend to wear lolita clothes as long as I like them - which might be as long as I live. I might be a 70 year old walking around with a frilly slice of cake on my head making all the young lolis cringe, but so what? I'm going to wear the clothes that I think are beautiful even if they don't suit me because if lolita fashion doesn't look good on me probably nothing else will anyway.

Plus, over-knee socks are great for hiding compression stockings!
