When you were a kid, do you remember what you used to dream about? For me it was always a sepia-toned wildwest dreams that usually ended in a showdown. My dad is a real wild west nut and my mum used to let him use the rec room to display all his stuff. There was a cowhide rug stiched up with leather straps, old guns he collected form all over Canada, and a big bullwhip. And he read from his history books every night at bedtime. I guess it stuck with me. My nightmares were always about giant insects. Actually, they still are.

I used to dream about being Under the Sea. You know the Disney version of the Little Mermaid? it was my favorite movie when I was four, five and six. Then I saw JAWS and in my twisted little six year old brain everything got jumbled together and I would dream about the scene where Ariel is chased by the shark only instead of her escaping she was freakin' mangled.. man It was SICK and I dreamt about it a few times a year.

Usually my dreams back then were black and white or sepia toned and about me and my best friend Nicole. We were just playing in her yard... It kinda looked like a card or something. we were in these old styled dresses, and playing with grass and flowers. the only coloured things were the flowers. It was pretty...
Other dreams (nightmares actually) were about fires. My lil sister (who was about 4 or 5 at the time) had lost her ball. Somehow, it ended up on a really high tree, and the forest beneath it is on fire. No matter how much i ran, i couldnt get to her. i was scared (being only 6 or 7) and tired. The firefighters wouldnt let me move closer.

When I got a little older and stopped having the wild west dreams, whenever I dreamt it always ended with me being in a room where I'd start floating up to the ceiling. I remember I was always really scared when I'd start floating because it always felt like I's been given some sort of painful jolt when I'd woken up. I remember one particular dream where I'd hung on a ceiling fan and was shouting for someone to help me because I didn't want to get hurt again, but eventually I'd decided that it wouldn't be painful for long, so I let go and woke back up.
And now that I've typed all that out and realize the symbolism, I also remember that was the last time my dreams ended like that.
