Edit: I've gotten all the information and input I initially sought, thanks to everyone who posted.

If this is in the wrong place, delete it, I wont mind.

Alright, in my years on Gaia and in the LI I have not run across anything like this before, so I ask for the wisdom the lot of you posess in order for me to recieve assistance. I've already gone through all the links on gaia and used google to no avail.

Please do not question or comment about my age. I am mature enough to deal with the consequences of my actions. Don't read this if you're going to be immature either.

I started having sex a few months ago only during my period. It hurts a bit because well, I was a virgin and my partner's p***s is rather large. I have long periods that last from 8-10 days, and mine just ended about a week and a half ago. My issue is that after having sex on monday, I've been bleeding ever since, today is wednesday. Is this normal? I've been stressed and such lately, and such and havn't had sex many times yet.

I know my cycle is kinda weird, and it changes every month, but has anyone had anything similar happen to them?

Thanks in advance.

Honey it might be time to go see the doctor. They will do an exam which sounds a lot worse then it really is. (For details you can visit Nikolita's "Teen Sex, Pregnancy and Puberty guild. There is a link on the front page of this guild)

Also 8-10 days is a long time to have a period so they could probably put you on some birth control pills to shorten that up and get you a little more regular as well so this won't be a problem again.

I'm going to assume you guys are using condoms since I know you are a smart girl. Try getting some 'KY Jelly' for lubrication. It should make things much less painful. Also lots of foreplay to get you ready helps too.

I do hope everything is alright but I think a trip to the doc is honestly the best thing for you right now.

It is a long time for bleeding to last, but I'm okay with that. My mom had the same problems when she was my age with that.

A smart girl I am, we even know how to use them properly. Its not so painful because we do use a lube, just the bleeding afterwords that happened this time bothers me.

I might just be stressed, we'll see. Also, my cycle is pretty weird, so it could have changed to match my friend's who are on thier period right now.

Thanks for the advice, I hate doctors, so that's a last resort =]

Yeah doctors aren't fun but they are necessary some times. Give it a few more days and see how it goes but it's best to know that you are safe.

Even if the condoms say that they are lubricated I find that is usually inadequate so adding some KY helps.

I agree with Chalda. I have an abnormal cycle as well, but I haven't had sex yet so I dont know what it could be. I know doctors suck, but i advise you go to one, just in case.

Well I can't really give any advice from experiance, cause I'm not like that... but if you are concerned about it then go talk to a doctor. They'll probably know the most and be able to help you.

If the bleeding is a growing matter of concern, it is best you go and see a docter. Bleeding for 8-10 days is a bit unusual. Not necesarily something to panic about, however it is wise you see a docter to make sure that everything is alright.

Biology is a b***h, especially when it comes to sex. One thing I'll never understand is how vast stress can affect a woman's cycle. Por ejemple: stress causes a woman's period to get funktified; ergo, the woman becomes stressed because the cycle is funktified. The cycle repeats, with the woman simply become more and more stressed. The joy.

So, because you're bleeding doesn't necessarily mean anything. Stress alone can cause that. However, if it lasts for more than two weeks, something could be up and a trip to the doctor is in order. In all honesty, sex during a period isn't that necessary, and it isn't that foolproof. Just be safe with what you do, and you should be fine. Just be aware that there are consequences involved.

First of off - why do you only have sex during your period? I'm going to assume the reason why you might be, and tell you that it is still very possible to get pregnant during your period. Hence, any time during your cycle is really pretty much equally as dangerous to have sex in, especially if your cycles are irregular.

Long periods lasting that long are a bit abnormal I would guess, but don't quote me on that as I'm not a doctor. The best idea would be to see a doctor about this, because losing that much blood can't be healthy for anybody. sad Personally, my periods used to last about 5 days, but then I went on birth control and now they only last for 2, and are so light that I don't even need to use pads / tampons or anything.

This might benefit you, to try birth control - if you're having sex as well, it's probably a smart idea anyways, as condoms aren't really too great (percentage wise with failure rates). I've tried several types of birth control, so if you want my personal opinion of which ones to go after, let me know. I've also done quite a bit of research about different types and failure rates.

As for the random bleeding after having sex, if you're smaller, then that sort of thing is bound to happen. Personally, I also have the same thing happen to me for several days after wards, though it's more like spotting and not of the same thing that happens during a period.

Conclusion: I'd highly recommend seeing a doctor. Considering the sporadicness and length of your period, they would more than likely recommend some type of birth control.

I'm highly agreeing with Reivena here. She has said pretty much everything I was gonna say.

I just want to re-emphasize that having sex during your period is NOT a reliable form of birth control (assuming that's why you're doing it). And condoms, even when used properly, can certainly fail. And seeing a doc is really the ONLY way you're gonna find out what's going on.

Not to rant, but I get tired of seeing all these younger females complain and worry over some feminine problem, and then REFUSE to go to a doctor because "doctors are icky" or "I'm too embarrassed" or "I don't like doctors." Get over it. There's only so much info you can find out on your own. There's only so much your mom, friends, or random people on the internet can tell you. The ONLY surefire way to have a trustworthy, accurate, and definitive answer is to have a doctor examine you.

Does an examination suck? Yes. Is it uncomfortable? Yes. But then again, so is bleeding for 8 to 10 days. If you truely care about your body, then seeing a doctor would be an obvious solution.

Ranting aside, I also still bleed from sex from time-to-time. And I've been sexually active for YEARS now, and I have had two children. I went and got examined for it. Turns out, I just have VERY sensitive tissue on the inside and it's prone to tearing or ripping easily. Nothing major, but at least I know what the problem is and no longer fret and worry over it.

I also used to have crazy periods as well. And, like so many others have mentioned already, birth control helped regulate that. But you cannot get birth control without seeing a doctor.

I hope you see where I'm going with this.....

This always bothers me tremendously when I have the luck to come across girls like this. Yes, I say girls, because if you're mature enough to have sex, then you're mature enough to go to the doctor and get yourself protected.

All it takes is a little of your time, and you're that much more safe. The girls I have known that have said the above statements are usually all the ones that wind up getting an "oops" pregnancy. Would they just been more mature, they more than likely would have never fallen into those circumstances in the first place... neutral

The only reason I have had sex during my period is because I've only done it about 3 times and the two first times just happened to be when I was having my period, it was in no correlation to getting pregnant. I use other forms of birth control.

Anyway, I've been offline for a few days, and my bleeding stopped. Turns out it was an irregular period, I wasn't too worried about this, just seeing if it was something that had happened to anyone else. I don't know any other people who do what I do, for whatever moral, emotional or other reasons, so I was basicly looking for some people with similarities.

I'm seeing my doctor this week anyway. I even talked ot my mom about it, and she said I shouldn't think anything of it.

I was stressed out, and as it appears the majority of the people I go to to school with, at an all-girls school, started thier period on monday. My body just decided to go with everyone's hormones for a few days.

Thanks for everyone's input.

Strangely enough there actually has been studies and women's cycles do tend to line up when they spend a lot of time together.

Not trying to necro a resolved thread, but I had to comment. My periods *do* tend to sync up with other females (and vice versa) when I am around them long enough.... like for days or weeks at a time. It must have something to do with hormones or pheramones or something. We women-folk have some strange physical attributes, ne?
