I'm having a hang-over right now, so my thoughts are a bit messy. I guess I'll collect them and then post another time. As for now... Since this is a beginner's guide, I believe we should start with the concept of roleplaying (well, it may be obvious for some), that will play the part of an introduction. And, yeah, perhaps you already know this thread - http://www.gaiaonline.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8722866- I found it on my first days on Gaia and it soothed my soul a bit.

For the moent, I don't want to dig into any serious playing as far as the guide goes. I only want to introduce the basics so users can get a handle on things before moving on. This is assuming they are already literate, mind you. That, certainly will be covered in the guide. We'll reserve diving into the more experienced stages of role playing for the coming guides. Well, but uhm.. Yeah. xd We will be introducing the concept though.

Maybe we could post a guide on battle? I personally always wanted to have a roleplay of a battle of men against men, with strategy and dice being the prevailing factors. One of the things that annoy me is that you can't have 10 million men pop up from nowhere. In fact, I doubt China ever had that many elisted men, even during the time of civil war. And if such an army appeared, a desert would appear behind them from the shere amount of feet, and a nation would starve from the food for the troops, recources used to ship the food, etc. I guess misconceptions on these factors prevented this type of roleplay in ever becoming sucessful.

I do have a few thoughts on RP-ing in general, so yeah, I'd want to contribute something. Any parts where writing is needed?
I also know someone who was trying to make a fighting guide for the guilds, but I dont' know if he's still interested. He made the fighting profile in my journal BTW, so I think he pretty much has it mostly planned out. I'll see if he's active these days...

Like... fighting with the new Gaia dice roll feature? Kinda like... D&D?
I don't know if any of you have played KOTOR or KOTOR II, but they're great. If I studied the battle system in these games and somewhat translated it over into here, we could have some kind of battle system. It does rely on stats though. But there are more or less some form of dice roll.
Personally, I prefer the ol' trading blows style of fighting. It's really always hard to let yourself lose though. D=
