Hi all I thought I would open up a spot for those with healing abilities to post about some of their experiences, ask questions and also develop a bit of a list of the various healing courses and groups that are available for anyone who might be interested in learning, but not sure what is available.

My first experience as a spiritual healer...I had no idea what I was doing.
In one of the meditation groups I had gone to, they decided to do healings, and I was asked to assist in the healing. I was looking at them like they were nuts or something, but they said my energy might be of benifit.
The instructions I recieved were pretty basic. Ask for the presence of Spirit to join, feel the energy of the person being worked on and while you do that, ask your guides to help send the energy that would be of best assistance to the person being worked on.
Umm ok...as all it looked like they were doing is slowly waving their hands around the person's aura. I figured I could at least fake that much of it xd
Umm guess again...my hands burned and tingled from the energy that flowed through. I asked if that was natural, and was told I would get use to it.....yeah right. At least they had a bowl of water with an amethyst cluster resting in the bottom for healers to place their hands in between sessions being done.
Since then I have enrolled in a couple of different courses. One through the National Fedration of Spiritual Healers (way back in college) and the second through Therapeutic Touch (will finish the last session this weekend). I admit I like the NFSH better, but have been thinking about trying my hand at Reiki.

I've considered taking up Reiki as well, but it's a hard sell in these parts (say it with an extremely countrified accent). I've also considered massage therapy since my former patients used to ask me to massage their legs, neck, arms and back. It wasn't really in my job description but it was a simple thing that no one else was going to take the time out of their day to do, and for the most part I liked doing it for them.
I actually find massages to be therapeutic for me as well as the person I'm giving it to, and I think it motivates me to do a good job since it's about helping them feel better.

I know a few Healers that will combine different techniques when doing healings. Massage and energy work is not unheard of. The lady that use to come and offer massages to the agency I work with and our clients uses, aroma therapy, reiki and massage during the sessions (if you ask nicely smile )
It is now official I have completed level 3 of therapeutic touch and need to decide if i would like to become a registered practitioner. (requires more training and study)

Thanks cool m I'm not sure if i want to be a registered practitioner or not. Right now, it is just used on a casual basis and i am content with that. Being registered just means I could start a business, but it isn't a route I feel like taking. I might take different healing courses, just to see the styles, similarities and differences done when working on people.

Indeed. I think I know what I'd like to do, but I also liked what I was doing to a degree. Often in medicine politics take all the fun out of it though.
