a while ago i attemtped to build myself a simple pair of leather goggles... i almost finished them, except that i hadnt fitted the lenses... and they were a couple of inches to short on the strap... anyway, while planning an Expo with some freinds (the London MCM Expo, if anyone wants to know), and who we would go as, me and one of my mates decided to go steampunk. so, digging through my stuff, and i rediscovered the goggles... although the nose-peice was snapped... still, i felt like messing with them, and in the end cut them in half, then built a new strap around one of them, attached a plastic lens from an old pair of sunglasses, and detailed them, and ended up with this. they are made from Faux Leather, Nuts, a cut down Plastic sunglasses lens, and some Plastic cut from a pair of plastic wine measuring thingys (which were painted silver) Me without steampunk attire (with a just-finished bottle of Fentimans Victorian Dandelion and Burdock: 1Me after a quick change: 1: 2With sword: (I love how the goggle looks in the 1st photo!) 1: 2With Flintlock: 1Various Shots of the Goggles on their own: 1: 2: 3: 4: 5: 6: 7So, what do you guys think? what should be changed if i make another one? what sort of stuff should be added to the next?

Excelent creation. Mabe you should change the detailing when you make another. So it doesn't look like you have a bunch of copies of the same thing. Mabe you could change up the colors or make the rim stuff around the eye hole look different.

I Love it! As for a new one, The first thing I thought of was having little magnifying dodads. Maybe a clear lense and some of those?

I like it very much. Spot on. ^-Q . The only thing that caught my eye was that in the first few photos, it looks like it isn't fitting to well. Perhaps if you made it a slight bit bigger, so that it's a bit closer to your nose.
Other than that. Simple fabulous.

Simple fabulous. actually, those were taken before i finished it. it was too loose actually, and fitted the sahoe of my eye poorly, as it pointed downwards, and to the right slightly. i added another couple of strips of faux leather to it to fix the problem. which is why in the later poser photos, it fits much better (i am such a cam-whore, i know)

That looks spiffing! Though I am in agreement with Comatose_Angel; it does look rather too small for you. (I see you fixed it.) You could be a steam-pirate (especially with the sword). biggrin Also: must see if I can find some Fentimans Victorian Dandelion and Burdock. It sounds/looks interesting. (^_Q)

Ahh, that stinks. You should save it for a steam meetup or something. Yes I live in the US but no worries, as I know a US-based site that imports food from the UK so I can get my favourite fixes. biggrin There's also a shop near me called Fremont's that also imports things from everywhere. No idea if they have it though, but the online site does, so I'll order from them.
