The language we speak is so inefficient when it comes to expressing pain.
There is an ache in my thighs that is stronger than the undeveloped muscles it took over this morning. I can feel it wobbling and tight when I stand or dig in my heels; a thousand little tears in the meat and sinew that add up to this - small, immediate agony, like an alien creature under my skin and clinging to my bones.
I don't have the words for this. Why has no one taught me the words for this?
