She nodded, chewing her bottom lip as if tasting his words, seeing if they were at all palatable.
"It would be dishonest if I said that I did not deeply want to Impress... but I also understand that it, in all likelihood, will not happen. "
There was sigh of regret, but her eyes were wide with hope.
"I feel very much that there may be something inside of me which is capable of change... but I think I may be too terrified to confront it..."
She blushed, abashed by her sudden vulnerability.
"I'm sorry, it was not my intention to burden you with all of this. Thank you very much for taking the time out of your busy schedule to speak with me, Bronze-Rider."

"Well it doesn't exactly do me any harm does it?" He asked. "Besides, regardless of weather the candidates impress, I imagine a great deal of them will stay at the Weyr if they can. Being here changes a lot about the way you see the world." He watched her face curiously, trying to figure out by reading her expression what it was she was trying to overcome.
"You're here. I think that means they at least have faith in you to do it. You seem like a smart young woman. What have you got to run from?" He asked, giving her a somewhat cautious pat on the shoulder.
God help him if Raena walked in on this, she'd probably scream 'assault' and attack him with a pot of porridge.

She bit her lip and shook her head.
"I'm sorry, I shouldn't divulge anything else. Being away from home... it makes me miss my brothers and sisters, and the connections we have. I think I may just be laying out my problems to you to compensate. Making mountains out of ant hills."
Aderyn nodded, her jaw set, and straightened herself.
"It was really lovely meeting you, S'kagi. I hope to eventually meet Coriath as well. He sounds like perfection. But for now, I'll leave you to the rest of the rolls."

Rayale nodded in mute understanding, and let his hand drop again.
"If you change your mind. let me know. I'm sure we can arrange for you to visit home again for a while if you'd like, or have them visit here." He'd never had the same degree of homesickness some of the candiates did, but he could understand it readily enough. Besides, encouraging visits and working them out with the Candidate master would help try and stave off the impression that the Weyr's were theives, stealing the children from the Holds.
