Rae held up a statue critically, eyeing the intricate gold designs laced into the smoothly polished figure; it appeared to be made out of ruby, fine enough to hold up and almost see the piles of gold behind it. Shrugging, she placed the statue down on top of a small pile beside her, laying atop a tatty-looking sack, before moving on to another pile and pawing through it the way a waif pawed through a pile of garbage in the search for something edible. She already looked the part, with her dirty hair and well-worn clothes; any noble unlucky enough to catch her in their House treasure room, where she was now, would undoubtedly think that they had a vermin problem, and it would be the last thought they would ever have.
She couldn't hide a smile as she spared a quick glance around the treasure room. She could remember merely a few months ago, she wouldn't have dreamed of robbing a house treasure room. Not that she wasn't capable; she could pick any flimsy lock that any second-rate noble-want-to-be's could put on their pitiful little hoards. She just made it a point to avoid nobles and any place their dainty little feet soiled. She half-wished some half-wit princess WOULD stick her head in the treasure room door. It had been a while since she had killed anything, and one less noble was always something that cheered her up. To her, just one was too many.
She found little in the next pile, and moved on to a much larger one, where a heavily bejeweled dagger hilt caught her eye. She seized one end and attempted to pull it out without causing a miniature avalanch of coins. She wasn't worried too much about anyone hearing her; this House had their treasure room deep under the ground, and far from the sleeping quarters of even the servants. It had probably once been a wine cellar or something, and they had thought to use it as an unlikely place for treasure. Stupid nobles. If brains were treasure, they'd still be as dumb as a herd of rothe.

 "Aiiiieeeee!" Was the only thing that Shi'n could really say as the pile of treasures that he'd been balanced very precariously on for a good while now finally decided it was time to cascade downwards, with him on top of them. He'd been having a nose around having gotten himself inadvertently locked in here previously.. only about two days ago admittedly, and he carried food with him for this very reason.
He'd been up there, nosing around with the girl below had arrived, and he'd not wanted to give himself away really.. but one misplaced foot had sent him very literally skiing down the slope. He landed at the bottom, quite soundly on his arse with a grunt. He shook his head, his highly unusual mismatched eyes were more than a little dazed for a moment. That had been some fall he'd just had, not the worst one on his record however, but still!
That had hurt!
He grumbled slightly, the fact that he wasn't alone didn't seem to matter to him too much at the moment, he was just slightly preoccupied with the fact that his backside had said its greetings to the floor at a far higher velocity than he would have liked it to. "Goddest loved Roth poop!" He grunted to himself as he pushed himself up to his feet... not fully to his feet, just to a squatted crouch. "I hate balancing..."
He wasn't very good at it either. He was far better when he was on solid ground, and piles of treasure were anything but solid.

Hearing both the scream and the thunderous chinks of coins cascading down, Rae made a small 'yeep' and dove to the left, away from the treasure room entrance and presumably away from the unstable pile of coins. She landed in an undignified heap on her front, and as she looked back quickly, she watched in horror as the coins buried her carefully selected spoils in a sea of yellow. "No!" she cried out, doing nothing to lower her voice; if the previous racket hadn't woken anyone, chances were her outburst wouldn't either.
She picked herself up and stared at her buried pile in disbelief, at first not even registering the male. It had taken her hours to select those! And now it would take her even more time to uncover them the way she had when she was selecting them. "Mushroom-spawning rothe s**t!" she shouted in frustration, almost at the same time the other drow was spouting his own colorful swear.
Suddenly realizing the presence of the other, Rae took a short hop back and drew her dagger, eyeing the strange drow with suspicion and hostility. "Who are you? What are you doing in here?" She gave the other a quick sizing-up while waiting for the answer. If he was a noble, he was the oddest-looking noble she had ever seen. Such strange, mismatched clothes, and his eyes didn't match! He just sat there, or rather squatted there, as though trying to hide; ridiculous, since he was out in the open in plain sight.
"Wait a minute....." she said as she tightened her grip on her dagger and took a threatening step forward. "Your with the thieves guild, yeah? Sent to track me down and retrieve their precious mirror? Well I'll not give it back, and it'll do you no good to come after me; I've hidden it, and if you kill me, you'll never find it." Waiting for the other to make a threatening move, she prepared herself to fight her way out of the treasure room; she would have to call this whole trip a loss, but at least she could dispose of one more threat that could come after her later.

"The guild of the whosiwhats..?" Was the most intelligent thing that Shi'n was actually able to say. She was pointing a knife at him! Why? Why would she do that?! "I was only climbing!" He protested, "I like the high places! With the shinies! And the things, and I fell! And it was loud! And there was noise! And and and.." he took a breath and looked up at the thief, his mismatched eyes wide and slightly horrified. He didn't move however. He just sat and stared at her.
What did she mean he was in a guild..? He wasn't. He just had a job for this house, he'd done it at his own matrons request and had brought the things down here when the door had shut... he'd figured he was stuck at that point, so he'd just decided to have some nosey fun until someone came down to let him out, or Ariadne finally wondered where her errant little surface raider had gotten to.
Something the woman said however finally caught his attention.
"Mirrors are shiny." he stated. Yet another genius comment.

A frown creased Rae's face as she listened to the fragmented babbling of the male. Either he was missing a part of his head, or he was damn good at acting harmless. Here he was nearly falling on her head in a treasure room that was supposed to not have another living soul in it for several more hours, to say nothing of her knowing that a major thieves guild was after her hide, and he expected her to believe that he was here by accident! The amazing thing was she found herself almost believing him; he seemed so sincere in his confusion.
Well, let's just see how far he could pull this little thread of deceit without slipping. Pretending she believed him in that he had nothing to do with the gang, she tried another approach. "Yessss.......mirrors are shiny..... Are you......did someone lock you in here?" She could completely picture someone doing away with this oddball drow by putting him in a place like this and hoping that someone would find him and bring him down before they could figure out just what he was doing there in the first place.
And who knew; perhaps in the slim chance that he really was here by accident, maybe she would be able to pull out of him just WHY he happened to be here in this treasure room.

"Kalan sat on a mirror and it broke." He was the king, it seemed, of helpful statements. He looked around him, the room was full of very distracting things and he wouldn't have managed a conversation at all had he not spent the last two days in here already..
"Well yes.. and no.. but yes and no.. I sort of locked myself in here..." He stated, seemingly a little muddled already. "I had a job for the lady, that the matron lady told me I had to do, she wanted some shinies from the upstairs." He pointed upwards, he meant the surface, but he apparently wasn't going to clarify that any. "She sent me and some of the other people to go and get them, which we did. Then Matron lady made me bring them here. So I did. But the door got shut. I thought it would stay open, but it closed, and it opens from the other side I think.." he shrugged slightly and let himself flop backwards onto his tush again, rather than crouching. "Two days ago it was! But I always bring food and water when I go places! I get locked in a lot!" He looked oddly proud of himself as well..
"Why are you here..?" He queried. "Are the shinies yours? Can you let me out? Do you need to move them? I'm Shi'n! I can help you!" He just kept talking.. he was far too excitable really..

Rae allowed herself an eager smile. Finally, it seemed as though they were getting somewhere! Hmmm, he mentioned a matron, so he apparently was part of a house..... She listened to the rest of his ramble with apt attention and thought she finally had it. Apparently this WAS a member of the house she was currently robbing from; a simpleminded one, no doubt the butt of the jokes and the pranks of the other house nobles, or maybe he was just a servant that they kept around for laughs in spite of his apparent uselessness. It would certainly explain his attire; a servant found clothes where they could, unless they found favor with their house.
She suddenly blinked as the other drow pointedly asked her HER reason for being here. Surely he wasn't stupid enough to think that this was hers! Then again......all the stuff he had spouted so far didn't seem to come from a rational mind. Putting on her best smile, she walked up to the male and put a hand on his shoulder. "Of course I can get you out of here! But you see, your tumble has caused my stuff to be buried by coins. Help me find them, and I will let you out of here when I leave. Do we have a deal? Oh, and my name's Rae; Alunrae, actually, but if you want to live, call me Rae."

"OkidokiRaeRae!" came the customary reply in a happy voice as the overly excitable male bounced to his feet once again, and practically flung himself at the pile of coins, rooting around for anything that might look especially interesting from underneath them.
"I'd like to get out! I want to go back to the house so I can getvmore food, and pester Kalan some more... and the drider!" He sounded oddly happy about that one.. "I have some cow back at home as well, it's good to eat.. very very good to eat, you should try it if you ever get some! They come from the upstairs as well! But they're very good if you can be bothered to go to the trouble of catching them.. though it hurts when they try to walk on you.."
He paused for a moment moving a pile of interesting looking things he had found to one side. "Any of these your things RaeRae...?" He queried, looking over at her. "I'll keep looking still as I do want to get out.. but they might be!" He went back to rummaging through the coins once more, humming very quietly to himself as he did.

"RaeRae?" If she was at all surprised by the sudden nickname that had been imposed upon her, the next bunch of babble nearly set her back on her heels. "A drider? You know a.....drider?" She could hardly imagine a drow like Shi'n surviving around a drider and now ending up food at some point. And what in the Abyss was a 'cow'? From what he said, it sounded like an animal, and a heavy one. But it was upstairs he said; did they keep LIVESTOCK in their house??? Gods, what sort of place had she been trying to rob?
Ah well, hygeine habits aside, treasure was treasure. Her eyes lit up with pleasure as she saw item after item uncovered, including her pretty ruby statue. "Yes yes, those are it! Well done Shi'n! Keep it up; only a few more; and find the bag too, yeah?" She was certain she could let the strange male out when all of her items were recovered; perhaps even doing something more.
Whether he was a noble or a servant, Rae was beginning to think of the merit in taking such a strange dorw with her. On the one hand, his definintely extraordinary demeanor might cause some to remember him,and thus jeapordize her position as another face in the crows, but if he turned out to be a noble, he could service her quite well. At the very least she might be able to inform the house that she had him in her possession and threaten to make it public knowledge and reveal just how easily the house's borders could be breached. She doubted he would make much of a fuss if she took him.
She smiled at the humming male as he dug up the last of her treasures; it looked as though they were going to be friends for a while.

Without too much care Shi'n rummaged around to pull the bag out of the pile of coins and flung it over towards Rae with a grin on his face. "I got bag, bag is there." He stated as he pushed himself up to his feet with something of a bounce.
"I'm looking forward to getting back to the house! It's been a while since I was there, Matron lady might not care but I have things for her and she'll want them." He stretched slightly. "Plus I'm hungry! Very hungry! And yes! I know I drider, he stays in the ladies house and makes the people she doesn't like go away." He looked over at Rae with a warm, friendly, if slightly unhinged smile.
He stretched slightly once again. "So! You have all your things now? we can go?" He seemed to really want to get out of the treasure room... he had spent two days in there on his own after all. Who could really blame him for wanting to get out?

Catching the bag deftly in one gloved hand, Rae trotted over and hastily began to load the freshly dug treasures into them, nodding and smiling as Shi'n continued to happily ramble on to her. She pursed her lips as he mentioned the house; she had no intention of delivering him there just yet, and she hoped that once he figured that out, he wouldn't fuss. Perhaps if she distrated him somehow; Mr. Shiny Mirror certainly seemed to distract easily enough....
She smiled suddenly, just in time to return the friendly, slightly off smile that Shi'n had sent her way. "You don't say! Well, if you're hungry I would be more than happy to take you somewhere and get you something to eat; we can always go to 'the house' later, yeah? After all, I'm sure your Matron lady would not wish to see you all hungry and miserable, now would she?"
Gathering the last of her items, she cinched the bag shut and walked briskly toward the door, glancing back once to make sure Shi'n was following. "First we need to get out of this room. But once we're in the hallways, you must be quiet, or else all manner of people could find us and you'd never get to see your cows or your drifer or even get anything to eat. But once we're safe, I'll let you know and then you can tell me what you'd like to eat, yeah?"
