Calm.
Completely calm.
It was strange how peaceful this night truly was. No dogs barked at one another, no alley cats sang from their brick perches, no mice pitter-pattered across the sidewalks, chirping and squeaking to their neighbors... Total tranquility.
Kep leapt nimbly onto the stone wall, followed shortly by his not-so-feline companion, Satio.
"I don't like the look o' this place, boss," the rodent whined, looking around cautiously. "Why do we need these 'Legends', anyway? We're doing just fine..."
"Because, rat," Khepret answered, stopping to observe his surroundings. "I'm tired of living like... like a nobody. I'm more than that; I'm destined for something bigger. I want your everyday scavenger to look at me with respect. I want the women to be swooned by my sight... and not just by my good looks and charm. I want the children to sing of me, and hear of me in their bedtime stories."
His counterpart smirked and chortled.
"Oh, here we go with this destiny nonsense again..."
"It's not nonsense. I wouldn't expect someone with a brain as small as yours to understand."
"Yeah, up yours too, buddy."
The abnormal duo stepped into a small, grassy clearing, away from the city and completely surrounded by thick foliage. The stars twinkled clearly overhead, and the moon's reflective light shone brilliantly through the leaves.
"Well," the handsome cat began, "This is it. This is the meeting place."
Satio stood, back against a rough-barked oak, and began grinding his fur on it. "Ahhh... Sure hope whoever's gonna show up shows up on-time."

Pff, meetings. Cloud had been to many scheduled meetings set up by other high-ranking members. While some cats preferred to approach him when they caught him outside of the base, others preferred a more 'professional' setting. He didn't mind this, no, but he liked it better the other way when he was feeling lazy. Of course, he was in no rush to get there. He knew exactly where he was going, he knew the entire area like the back of his paw. The large black and orange cat took his time, strolling along, arriving maybe 15 minutes or so after Kep and his rat had shown up. After a stretch and a yawn, Cloud took a seat a few feet away from the other cat.
"So, are you this 'experienced' thief my officers have told me about?" said Cloud, in an almost-rude tone. After dealing with so many cats seeking membership, he had quickly learned that most were not what they claimed to be. But at the same time, he had no wishes to drive this cat away if he was as experienced as he'd heard. "...Because the gang is in need of some good, skilled thieves."

Satio vainly attempted to obscure his mischievous chuckle, cackling quietly and covering his snout with a dirty paw. The look in Khepret's eyes... so irritated and discouraged. Only his rat companion knew the cat well-enough to read his typically suave expressions, and Cloud didn't detect any sort of annoyance at all... which made the rodent's laughter even more mysterious.
"That depends," Chrysaor replied, flicking his tail in a gracefully random fashion. "Are you the one they call 'Cloud'?"
His tone was stern and insincere, ominous enough to finally thwart the balderdash his counterpart was performing. Suddenly, it seemed that the clearing they were in was much more lonely than it'd been only seconds ago. Wind was the only thing to be heard in the dark of night.
