Name: Canaan Noble
Description:
Quote:
Canaan is not an overly large person, standing just 6' and weighing 180 pounds. He is in very good shape, with strong visibly sculpted muscles and a lean build gained from years of traveling around by foot and his strict workout routine. Furthermore, his skin tone is lightly tanned from being exposed to the sun on an almost daily basis. It's tough and leathery, but clean looking.
Unfortunately, strong muscles and tanned skin are not all Canaan has gained. He has three large scars running horizontally across his chest and back that were given to him by a dragons claws. Along his right bicep he has several, now healed over, gouged holes. These are teeth marks where the same dragon attempted to bite Canaan's arm clean off. Over the years he has also accumulated a number of other little scars from failed battles. The scars are a constant reminder of these past struggles.
Other than his scars, Canaan's defining features are his slightly ruffled, short dark blue hair and deep blue eyes. The color of his hair is attributed to an unusual, but benign, genetic mutation of the people of his homeland. And despite being only twenty one years old, Canaan's body has been matured through magic, making him look to be around twenty six years old. While it is not a significant alteration, Canaan's once boyish looks have given way to a much more handsome and masculine looking appearance. However, he is by no means an exceedingly good looking person, but he does seem to have a care-free and laid back expression almost always present on his face. Despite things troubling him easily.
Canaan's clothing style is functional and almost always casual, normally consisting of a blue or black tank-top, t-shirt, and loose pants combination with sandals or boots. Sometimes he doesn't even bother wearing a shirt as he gets hot really easily, not being at all self-conscious about the scars on his body. Though they don't count, technically, as attire, Canaan also has jewels embedded into the back of his hands on the the tops of his feet. These are magical artifacts and cannot be removed from him.

Equipment:
Quote:
Fangs of Tygris: A legendary pair of gauntlets and greaves made from the magical essence of an dragon, said to grant their user amazing powers. The composition of the 'dragon' metal very similar to steel, only nearly immune to external magic. At the end of each finger on the gauntlets are razor sharp claws for close range combat. When in a resting state, the gauntlets take the form of four azure gems in Canaan's hands and feet. It requires an entire day in resting state for any damages to the gauntlets to be completely repaired, no matter the extent.
Soldiers Sword: A simple stainless steel sword for use in front-line combat. The sword is three feet long from the butt of the hilt to the tip of the blade, making it good for medium and close range combat. It has no special attributes, but can be replaced very easily.
Simple Axe: An axe made for chopping down trees, but it can turned on an attacker just as easily. The handle is fashioned from oak and the blade is steel, unfortunately, the edge is worn from years of hacking through bark. It's a good defensive weapon and doubles as a smashing tool.

Abilities:
Quote:
Dragon Strength: All of Canaan's muscles and bones increase in strength and durability when the gauntlets are activated, due to the raw magical energy flowing into his body. This allows him to fight on par with even in-human adversaries. When Tygris is in control, he is able to control the energy to a greater extent, making him tougher without actually increasing the amount of energy he uses. (Like how the purer the uranium is, the stronger the nuclear explosion.)
Energy Manipulation: Canaan is able to manipulate the radiant blue energy of the gauntlets at his desire. This energy combines three elemental properties together, light, heat and wind, making it quite versatile in battle. Furthermore, thanks to instruction from Tygris, Canaan is able to harness the raw magical energy his muscles retain from each use of the gauntlets. Though it's strength is almost negligible by itself, when used in unison with open flame, electricity or wind magic, it can rival the power of novice spells. (He can currently shoot what amounts to "fireball" and "greater fireball" magic blasts, and create moderately strong "barriers" out of energy.)
Arcana Preservation: When Canaan is incapacitated, either by fatigue or injury, the magical energy of the gauntlets, which would normally increase strength, begin working to sustain life instead. Bleeding stops, tissues mend, and damaged organs are kept alive and oxygenated. A minor shield is also generated to keep the body safe from exposure. The body is able to live on this energy for up to a full week, normally enough time for Canaan to reach real medical help. (Important to note that this, while technically a healing spell, is NOT a combat applicable power. It's a way to make sure he stays alive after an intense battle or critical injury.)

Weaknesses: Metahumans are built to withstand the powers that they are masters of. Canaan, however, by himself, is a human being with no innate magical powers. The magic energy that flows into his body is purely external, and while this energy is controllable, it's powerful enough that he can easily inflict harm to himself if he tries to do too much during a single fight.
Background:
Complete Personality
On the outside Canaan is a regular person, even if he is a little stoic and naive at times. He is really fun loving and adventurous. When he does socialize, Canaan makes a lot of small talk and never reveals much about himself to people that he just meets. However, when he does draw close to somebody, a lot of emotion and detail tends to come to the surface. He is also not the kind of person to hide things from those he cares about, unless he understands it is for a good reason.
When he is serious, Canaan is very blunt and to the point, not beating around issues; he is a practical thinker and realist, not to be confused with pessimism. Canaan is often optimistic, looking to solve the problems he faces in the simplest ways possible. Unfortunately, when the problem comes with a personal, emotional attachment he can find himself up against a brick wall.
However, like anybody, Canaan has his flaws; violent impulses and self destructive tendencies. Normally these are kept in check by him either finding something peaceful to set his mind on, or challenging himself in some way. Usually these challenges are intense physical training or experiments with his powers. His biggest personality flaw is that he can be a very hardcore vigilante when he sees or learns of injustice. Zealous in his pursuit of right, even if it becomes wrong. Canaan often ends up doing the wrong thing for the right reason.
In battle Canaan is cunning and efficient, if not a little brutal at times. He tries not to kill his opponents if he doesn't have to, but sorta has a "s**t happens" attitude towards it if things get very heated. Tygris personality on the other hand is completely different. He is calm and collected, to the point of being cold and heartless. His one true passion seems to be the joy he derives from the destruction he is known for causing. On the battlefield, Tygris emits a sense of danger, he is absolutely merciless and extremely brutal. Though he does enjoy toying with his opponents, his usual aim is to outright destroy them.
Note: Tygris is a dragon that's disembodied consciousness co-inhabits Canaan's body. The dragon is ancient, having lived for 11,000 years. He can freely communicate with Canaan and others via telepathy. Things he's known for doing are asking control of the body in order to fight, or giving Canaan tips on how to take advantage of a situation in a fight. He has extensive battle expertise and is a strategist.
Complete History
Early Life
Canaan had humble beginnings, born on the island nation of Alaku to a poor fisherman and an artisan. His family never had very much money but their needs were provided for by his fathers trade, which he was predetermined to follow when he grew up. Canaan's parents loved him dearly and they saw that Canaan never did without if they could help it. Canaan lived as normal and healthy a life as any boy should, though as he got older he began to develop rather violent urges.
These were brought to the surface after seeing his father cheated several times and the crooks getting away. The final straw for Canaan was when the landlord sold their house and land out from under them; the day the goons came to throw them out, Canaan attacked them. Though he was young and quickly subdued, the extreme violence of the attack was terrifying and Canaan was sent away to a jail where he was to be contained as a danger to society. Canaan managed to escape by tricking one of the guards into letting him out, allowing him to runaway.
Way of the Dragon
A life as a fugitive was not an easy one, especially on Canaan whom didn't have much experience living outside of his town. Hungry and badly fatigued, he collapsed on the side of a road into a ditch. He expected to die there and slowly slipped into unconsciousness. He was found by a passerby, an old man named Fei Wong, who gathered him up and took him back to his home. It was there that he was nursed back to health.
Later, Canaan found out that the old man's home doubled as a school for teaching the youth of the area and Fei's two grandsons martial arts. Specially, Fei's own martial art, Way of the Dragon. It was an interesting and extremely ironic turn of events. Broke and unable to navigate the surrounding area, Canaan opted to stay at the school. He was given a job as the school's handyman in exchange for getting to live there.
For several months, Canaan lived and worked at the school. He picked up on several of the schools fighting techniques and trained with them in his spare time. Due to his honest work and dedication, Fei agreed to help Canaan locate his parents and settle somewhere far from his old home. Needless to say that Canaan was ecstatic about it. Sadly, fate didn't have the same interests as Canaan.
Fangs of Tygris
The night before he was to leave with Fei in search of information of the whereabouts of his family, he was cleaning up around the training area when he caught sight of one of Fei's grandsons wandering around. Jian Wong. A strange one, Canaan had never spoken to him, but he knew from watching that he was very obedient and respectful. So why he was breaking curfew, Canaan had no idea. His suspicions peaked, Canaan followed Jian until they came to a building that everybody had been told directly was off-limits.
He didn't say a word as Jian entered, opting to follow him and catch him in whatever he was attempting to do. Once inside he saw Jian open a case and withdraw an azure stone glowing with a mystical light. Jumping to the conclusion that Jian was going to steal them, Canaan yelled for him to stop. By then it was too late, the wheel had been set in motion that would affect Canaan for the rest of his life.
In Jian's hands the stones burst to life with a mystical green energy as his attention snapped to Canaan. Green energy turned into blue metal and formed a pair of gauntlets and greaves on Jian's arms and legs, shredding the clothes he had on. Jian was unable to enjoy these magical objects for long, however. His awe turned to fear as he felt his body convulse from the magical weapons rejecting him. Jian opened his mouth, but it was too late for him, his heart burst, and instead of a scream, a spray of blood erupted from his mouth.
Canaan approached the body frantically. When he reached out to touch the body, the gauntlets and greaves converted back to energy and leaped off onto Canaan's arms and legs. Their flames covered his limbs but did not consume them. It took only a second for them to settle as blue metal once more. Canaan did not move nor say a word, he expected himself to end up like Jian. Instead he felt a feeling of euphoria and then a rush of darkness throughout his mind.
Before these events could register with Canaan, Fei and several now armed students rushed into the room to see what was going on. They saw Jian dead on the floor and Canaan wearing the magical artifacts. He attempted to speak, but was quickly interrupted and attacked. All he could do was flee from the school towards the ocean. During his run down to the docks the gauntlets reverted into the forms of four jewels located on his hands and feet. When Canaan reached the boats, he paid the nearest boatman all the money he had on him to take him far from the land as possible.
Drifter
Days of sailing passed, and not a moment of what had happened escaped Canaan's memory. When the boat hit land, Canaan was told he was on another continent entirely. The new world was known as "Gaia" and it had all sorts of creatures he'd never seen before. After traveling around for a little while Canaan managed to enlist himself as the "helper" to a mercenary. It wasn't the best of jobs, but it paid well enough and he had a place to sleep and food. It was thanks to traveling with this mercenary that Canaan began to get a deeper understanding of fighting and combat. Though he rarely ever took part in battles himself.
Draconian Roar
Canaan's first bit of action came when the mercenary he was following was hired to slay a dragon. It didn't take long for them to track the beast down and initiate a battle. It was only after the two had provoked the beast that they realized that they'd gotten in over their heads. The mercenary was bitten clean in half while Canaan suffered claw lacerations to the chest and a nasty bite on the arm. Things seemed hopeless. Until the dragon used a magical attack on Canaan. The arcana was enough to awaken the sleeping power within the gauntlets, and in an explosion of green and blue flame, Canaan was shielded.
New power flowed through the boys body. It was unlike anything he had experienced before. With it came a rush of adrenaline, strength, and a dark, nearly overpowering mentality to destroy. In the heat of the moment, Canaan unleashed the roaring powers in an explosive attack which destroyed the dragon with a single hit. Once the high wore off, Canaan felt himself calm down and nearly pass out. It was in the moments afterward that Canaan was introduced to the entity living within the gauntlets. Ironically the spirit of an ancient dragon, Tygris. Many things were said between the two, and much became clear.
Canaan went back to the people that had hired the mercenary and collected the reward. With it he was able to live a comfortable life for awhile and even started his own little monster hunting guild at the prompting of Tygris. As strange as that was to hear of a dragon wanting to start a business.
Monster Hunting
A year passed, but Canaan's desire to see his parents never faded, however he realized that he couldn't go and search them for a very long time. The youth simply settled into his business and attempted to leave everything behind him save for the memory of his family. It was easy enough to run. After each mission was completed he got a cut of the rewards and treasures obtained by the hunters. Canaan never made many important decisions, leaving those up to Tygris. Though a dragon, he seemed to have a healthy understanding of business and warfare, and was willing to cooperate for his own personal interests.
Unfortunately it all was brought crashing down by a group of vengeful warriors from the old martial arts school. With his business in ruins Canaan gathered what he could and began traveling once more. Tygris attempted to get his retribution by taking control of Canaan's body, but he never could locate the offenders.
Soon after, Canaan was back to living the life of a vagabond - working odd jobs in the towns and cities he visited that included everything from fishing, manual labor to combat. He even entered a martial arts competitions in order to make some additional money for himself, but has rarely placed higher than third or second. Tygris was never one to lend his aid against inferior creatures, leaving Canaan to be beaten in the finals by experienced warriors.
Over a period of time, Canaan began to view the dragon as both an asset and a burden, given that his great wisdom allowed Canaan to understand many things about the world and how to survive, but at the same time the creatures thirst for battle and it's ability to control his body on a whim put him in bad situations. Almost no middle point has ever been reached between them.
Black Sand Bar
After traveling around for awhile, Canaan found himself gravitating back towards island towns and port cities in order to feel some of the old nostalgia from his home. This was how Canaan ended up coming to Black Sand Island, a place run by a family of Fey and filled with patrons from all over the Gaian world. Because of it's high potential for him to find work, Canaan decided to set up a little base of operations on the island.
Molten Daemonspider
After drifting around the Black Sand for a few days and getting acquainted with the locals, Canaan was recruited by the owner, Rhoslyn Vernal, to help in an extermination of a creature dwelling in a nearby temple. The walk through the temple led down to an underground magma chamber, where the creature was revealed to be a giant demon spider composed primarily of lava. At the prospect of a great challenge, Tygris took control of Canaan's body, and a fearsome battle ensued.
During this battle the spider took three forms. The first Tygris easily crippled, but the second form gave the spider a carbon exoskeleton which required a substantial amount of energy to destroy. In it's third and final form the spider was made out crystal and took advantage of Tygris brief vulnerability to skewer him, knocking him out of the fight completely. The dragon survived the fight but Canaan's body had been damaged to the point where he had to be carried out by his ally, Victoria.
Recovery and Friendship
Canaan spent several days post-demon spider battle bandaged up and recovering on the island. The inactivity and unrelenting pain kept Canaan in a constant depression, Tygris cruel words didn't help either. However, he was alleviated of his misery when a woman he had approached the day before named Merdice visited him. She talked with him and tended to his basic needs during the process of his recovery. After a while they became very good friends. Eventually, despite their weariness and doubt, grew to become a bit more than that. The two have since made a home on the island and share a tent together.
Settling the Past
It hadn't been long since Canaan had come to the island that the past had come creeping up on him in the form of three men that had burned his guild down. They had been hunting him since that day. Realizing that they would likely cause harm to the black sand, Canaan led them away towards the cliffs before trying to confront them in battle. Normally it would have been a breeze for him to activate the power of his gauntlets and finish them off, now that he had gotten the hang of using them, but they had planned for such--producing a magical jewel that could suppress Tygris powers.
With three-on-one odds and Canaan being no adept martial artist, his chances of coming out of the fight uninjured seemed bleak. It was thanks to the brave assault of one of the patrons, Deitric Jocasta, that Canaan was able to get the jump on them, taking one out. Unfortunately the leader of the group managed to KO Canaan with a sneak attack and carry him off while Deitric was left trying to fight. The man put in quite a bit of effort to get Canaan back. To no avail, however.
After being taken to a ship and tortured and starved for three days, Canaan was taken to a far away island where he was supposed to be put to death by the big bad. When Canaan arrived he was thrown inside of a cavern and forced to traverse the terrain. Thanks to a little luck and good coordination he found his way to the main chamber where he confronted Lau Wong. Jian Wong's brother and Fei Wong's rouge grandson. The man was a certainly a sight. Words were exchanged between the two, but the truth of what had really happened came to light when Tygris took control of Canaan's body. The dragon renounced the Wong family and declared Canaan the new Azure Dragoon.
Lau was unable to accept such a thing and planned to take Tygris power by force. A short battle followed this in which Lau realized his humans and was quickly put down. Unable to face defeat, Lau ignited an massive explosion in an attempt to kill Canaan and destroy Tygris. At the last possible second Tygris used his powers to protect Canaan, but they were shot off inland. Deitric and his allies were left to sift through the smoldering ruins of the cave system, probably believing the young warrior to be dead.
Gaian Fighters Guild
When Canaan came to, he was stranded out in the middle of a forest on an island he had never been to. His only option was to walk until he found some form of civilization. It came in the form of a building with a floating island above it. In an effort to make contact with somebody, Canaan entered the building--almost as soon as doing so he found himself face to face with another named Adrian. Before he could say anything, Adrian teleported him to the floating island above. It was there that he was filled in that an organization known as ORDER was assaulting the group of fighters that called the building below home. The Fighters Guild.
Sympathizing with them, he joined forces with them. His reasoning was that it was a good chance to get in some practice. He was teamed up with a werewolf named V and a cyborg named Raven. Together the party traversed the corridors of the island till they entered a lab. There Canaan interrogated a scientist and learned of the experiments and events happening around the island. Genetic experimentation and biological weapon construction. When the scientist finished explaining the details, more events played out between the members of the fighters guild.
As soon as those were finished, one of the group activated a door that led down to three elevators. Following the orders of Adrian and another named Light, Canaan took the middle elevator down to the engine room below. There he encountered a clone of a man named Hartia Pendragon. It had been given the mission of keeping any from passing.
Thanks to a new found control over his powers, Canaan made short work of the clone by closing the distance and blasting a hole through it's chest. The next clone was much tougher. He wielded a giant sword and had the power to manipulate the wavelengths of light and radiation. Needless to say the jump in skill and power compared to the previous fighter forced Tygris into action. Much of the battle was spent out-thinking the clone, as brute force didn't phase it much. The fight ended when the clone made a mistake and attacked the dragon while he was guarding, allowing Tygris to land a fatal kick and break the clones neck.
After taking the sword, Tygris passed through the door that was being guarded to the main engine room. There he encountered a small army, punching through them, he destroyed the main engine keeping the island afloat and escaped when the island fell to the ground in ruins. Canaan never did say anything to his temporary allies before leaving them, though chances were good he might someday return to the guild.
Return
A full 2 weeks passed before Canaan returned to the Black Sand, and he wasn't exactly in the best of conditions. He was starving, half-drowned, and nearly dead from exhaustion. The only thing keeping him alive was the magical energy that Tygris was feeding into his body. Why he was in such a state was unknown.
A group of strangers were able to save Canaan's life, and he spent the next day recovering in bed. Once he was back on his feet he went about getting reacquainted with his friends, gave away the sword he'd taken from the half-angel clone, and found Merdice. She was more than happy he had returned to the island.
Mr. and Mrs Noble
As his life flashed before his eyes during the torture, and on his way back to the Black Sand, Canaan weighed what life really meant to him. He decided that he wanted to marry Merdice and settle down. His past had been put behind after all, there was no more reason for him to be on guard anymore. The island had become his home and he planned to make it permanent, regardless. When Canaan proposed, Merdice seemed a little shocked--but when she accepted Canaan felt his heart race with excitement. Stability had finally returned to his life.
Getting Older...
Because of his young body, Canaan was starting to suffer from the growing power of the gauntlets. In order to prevent the magical energy from becoming unstable and killing Canaan, the dragon convinced the youth to undergo a physical maturing process. Once he was convinced that it would help him become stronger, Tygris used a great portion of his already considerable magical powers to create a temporal warp in space time around Canaan. In the course of a single day, Canaan's body aged by five years. His mind also matured a little during this process as well. With the maturing complete, Canaan could use the power of the gauntlets to a greater extent.
A Champion at Last
Only a few days after his aging process, Canaan heard of a martial arts tournament being held by Club Haven, an affiliate of the Black Sand Bar. Interested in trying out his new found control over his power, he signed up to compete.
The first round pitted him against a fire-demon named Vincent, whom of which he was able to easily defeat with little injury sustained to himself. The second round was a bit more eventful, pitting him against the clubs head bouncer, a cyberpunk named Tzak Bishop. This fight was harder than the first, both duking it out to a standstill, but thanks to some ingenuity, Canaan was able to come out on top by delivering a combination of lightning magic and a knock-out punch.
The final match was the hardest of the three, putting the blue haired warrior up against a much stronger cyborg-mutant. Tygris competed in this match in Canaan's stead - both warriors battled in a test of wits and skill, rather than endurance, with Tygris eventually coming out the winner. At the end of the match, Canaan was crowned Club Haven Champion.
Reigning in Tygris
Being taken control of and having his future family threatened, Canaan resolved to become strong enough to conquer Tygris' mind. Though he could not destroy it, he could subdue it and regain control of his life. And he set about doing this in the only way he knew how - through battle. Naturally this would not be an easy path, but it was the only one that Canaan truly understood. No magic or special abilities would help him accomplish his goal.
After many months of intense struggle, Canaan finally overcame Tygris' mind, and the dragons power to take over Canaan's body at will was abolished. With his new found freedom, Canaan was able to start living in any way that he wished, without having to be subjected to Tygris destructive impulses. However, just because Tygris power was reigned in, does not mean that he has been entirely suppressed. The dragon is still able to converse with Canaan, and can still take control of Canaan's body, but only when he is allowed.

Quick note, the character "Tygris" is one-in-the same with Canaan, as described in the above section.
Canaan Noble
Acropilis
"No hello? What kind of greeting is this?" Acropilis jested as he felt a slight jolt coming from his right. Withing seconds a fist was coming in his face, but before he looked and even reacted or spoke, he swiveled back to let his left foot front allowing him room between the presense and him. One thing his training taught him, if you feel the slightest presence in any direction with intent to harm, MOVE YOUR a** THE OTHER WAY!!
Then he spoke the taunt, and saw the incoming fist. He had time to react, moving his right gauntleted hand to block. His eyes quickly scanned his opponent as he noticed the left arm tucked and decided to keep it occupied by taking a step forward, hooking his right foot behind Tygris's before throwing a left hook at the face.
It was some fancy foot work, but training pays off like this.
It hadn't come as much of a surprise that Acro had managed to turn his face out of the way of the attack. The moment it missed, Tygris drew his right arm back towards his chest while digging his feet into the sand and bending on his knees to lower is center of gravity so that he wouldn't go flying off balance.
For a second, Tygris was left open to any attack that Acro could happen to think of right off the top of his head that didn't involve flashy flippy movements. The dragon was actually testing the waters, trying to see if the demon had actually learned how to play the game simply instead of trying to be hardcore to impress those around him.
To his dismay, Acro decided to go with a course of action that was, by Tygris standards, mind numbingly stupid. Instead of making a rapid follow up, the demon stepped forward, slipping his leg between Tygri's own planted ones. That could have been a problem, if Acro had decided to follow the movement up with something that would allow him to take control of Tygris center of gravity -- but no, instead he turned his body and threw a left hook punch.
That hook would encounter one extreme problem, Tygris own right arm being right up where he could guard with it. Taking advantage of the situation, Tygris reached his right arm up and grabbed ahold of the inside of Acro's left elbow, knocking their forearms together and effectively stopping the punch altogether. And now he even had a grasp on the little demon. This is where things were going to get really nasty.
Looking into Tygris eyes, all that would be seen was an intense snarl and glowing azure eyes, like pits of bright fire. "Rrrr!" The gauntlets, Tygris own essence, crackled with arcs of blue electricity, which raced down the length of the dragons forearm and onto Acro's. This prince of demons was about to suffer a massive electrical shock -- hopefully he wouldn't piss his pants in front of his girlfriend. That sorta thing tended to happen from time to time.
Of course the savage and brutal nature of the beast wasn't satisfied with just violent and horrifically painful electrocution, he planned to pour on the pain by taking his left claw and burying it deep into Acropilis right side. Just ripping and gripping the flesh like nobodies business.
Today was going to be a bad one for Acropilis.
