Zak stood at the top of the falls on an over hanging rock and looked down at the forest below him. His purple hair whipped around his face, chains oozed off his leather pants; he scowled and dug the toes of his steel tip combat boots into the rock breaking a piece away. He watched it fall down into the rolling foam below and then looked up at the night sky; moonlight shining against his pale torso.

Zak let out a soft and low whistle and a large crow came soaring to him from teh tree tops. It landed on his shoulder, talons digging into the flesh breaking it easily. Zak didn't even flinch, blood slowly trickled down his front and he just stared at the sky.

"Any sign of them?" he asked the bird, eyes not moving from the moon. It let out a loud caw in response and Zak swore. How could that ******** sister of his elude him for this long? She had to use the twin blades sooner or later, she would slip up or be in need of their defense and Zak would be at her side in a heartbeat. Or her heartbeat he should say, he'll feel it beating in the palm of his hand before he crushes it.

The crow cawed again, feeling the anger and violence exude from Zak and it took flight, tearing strips of flesh off with it's leave. Once again, Zak gave no sign of pain. He could smell other people in the forest, they reeked of weak power and it irritated him further. People so weak shouldn't be allowed to live. They were a disgrace to the power they were given. Swearing again the man turned from the falls and let out an angry holler at the night sky.

A white, twin-tailed fox creature rushed out from the brush nearby, carrying what looked to be a round, ball-like object in her mouth.
Behind her, a much bigger, orange furred fox, with nine tails this time, followed, a scowl on his face as he lumbered behind his smaller companion.
They had been looking all day, trying to find their mistress's sister, but once again, to no avail...
The white twin-tails had an upset look on her face, trotting up towards where their mistress was, at the bottom of the falls.
Soon, a black-haired woman, wearing a white-ish priestess's kimono, came into view, sitting on the banks of the lake, looking out at the moon's reflection as it wavered and shone across the crystalline waters.
While she might have looked unrecognizable, the two fox creatures knew her scent well, her kitsune ears and her tails disguised by her magical charms, so that she was given the appearance of an ordinary woman to onlookers.
The twin-tails looked to her companion, giving him a solemn nod before slowly trotting up to the raven-haired lady.
Kumikio's invisible fox ears twitched as she heard paws, and turned to look just as the twin-tailed fox came running up to her, and she instinctively reached her hand out for the object in it's mouth.
As the bigger fox came up, the twin-tails lightly placed the object in her palm, and Kumikio examined it a moment, her eyes not showing any emotion, before she looked up to her companions.
" Any signs of her, Michi, Akuma?" she asked softly, her voice just above a whisper as she kept her gentle, steady gaze on them.

" We found another trail of her's, mistress Kumi," spoke the smaller twin-tails, Michi, who held Kumikio's gaze, before she looked down to the ground, a solemn look on her face, " But once again, it only became colder as we followed it, yet another dead-end..." she added, her voice soft, like a wind's whisper, but clear as a silver bell's ring.
" We could tell she had been there as of recently though, mistress," boomed Akuma in his own, thunderous voice, his intense blue eyes keeping contact with his mistress's, " Surely we must be getting closer to her."
Kumikio sighed and looked away from them, caressing the ball-like object in her arms, " Yet another fruitless search..." she whispered, her eyes deep with sadness and longing, her lips frowning in disappointment.
They had been searching for Keiko for almost a week now, Kumikio's yearning to see and hug her sister again only growing deeper and more painful with each luckless endeavor to find her.
But she knew she couldn't give up just yet, she knew her sister was still here somewhere, but it was difficult to even know where to look for her, this school being so grand in size, both on and off grounds.
Every now and then, Kumikio would get a slight, familiar twinging feeling, though it was so faint, it was difficult to pinpoint it exactly.
She glanced down at her reflection in the lake waters, before looking back to her kitsune companions, " You two come here and rest, we shall start another search in the morning," she said, beckoning to them with her free hand.

Michi nodded, looking back up to her mistress, before walking over to one side of Kumikio, laying down next to her, curling her two tails around her as she slid her paws partially into the water, gazing up at the moon as she rested her head on her mistress's lap.
Akuma followed after Michi, taking his place on the opposite side of Kumikio, sitting down on his haunches instead of laying like Michi, his nine tails swishing slightly about him as he cast his steely gaze across the lake, shifting his eyes to look over to the waterfalls nearby.
Kumikio turned her gaze back to the waterfalls as her companions came over to sit with her, her free hand gently petting the soft fur of Michi as the twin-tailed fox laid her head down on her lap.
The ball-like object rested on Kumikio's lap, between her body and Michi's head, being careful so that it didn't bump the little fox's nose, and the raven-haired kitsune lady looked down to it.
Memories only came flooding back to her as she gazed at it, it was a music box, the very same one she had given to Keiko for her birthday.
Her sister had loved the music box so much, adoring the melody it played whenever it was opened, and said that she'd cherish it, always, and that she'd think of her elder sister whenever she opened it.
Kumikio had preserved the music box, even after the demons had infiltrated and toppled the Asagani Clan house, and had been using it ever since to try to find her lost sister.
With a steady hand, she opened the lid, the soft, gentle, lulling tunes of the instrumental melody pouring out from the velvety inside of the music box, which contained pieces of shimmering jewelry, all of it belonging to Keiko.
Kumikio closed her eyes, letting the sadness and nostalgia take her down memory lane, swaying slightly as she lightly hummed along with the song, thinking of all the times Keiko would come to visit her during her solitary studies, how they strolled together every season through the gardens, admiring the cherry blossom groves, and playing with the koi fish in the garden ponds...
She missed those memories, and wished that she could relive them all, those good days, she wanted them to come back, but, she knew full well such a thing was impossible.
The lid of the music box was quickly shut, if she listened any further, she would feel deeply compelled to cry, and now wasn't the time for tears.

Michi closed her eyes as Kumikio pet her, feeling her sway, hearing her soft humming as the melody emanated from the opened music box.
She could feel Kumi's sadness, and cuddled up closer to her, licking her hand gently to comfort her.
The twin-tails knew neither she nor Akuma could ever replace Keiko as a sister to their mistress, but they would do everything in their power to reunite the two once more, no matter what it took.
Her eyes opened as the music box was abruptly shut moments later, and lifted her head a bit, sniffing at the air a little.
A strong scent of blood, from so close by, hit her nostrils, and a loud, angry yell brought her senses to high alarm.
Within seconds, Michi was up on her paws, taking hold of one of her mistress's sleeves and tugging on it.
" Mistress, we must leave. Now. I do not feel it is safe for us to linger around here any longer!" said the twin-tails, her voice soft, yet the urgency in her tone was not to be ignored.

As soon as he smelled the blood, felt an angered, violent presence nearby, and heard the loud yell, Akuma was up, his hackles raised and his tails fluffed out.
Looking up, his flashing blue eyes scanned about for the source of the presence, and saw a figure standing on an overhang just above the falls, the moonlight illuminating it faintly.
The nine-tails's eyes narrowed warily, and he nodded to his mistress, " Michi is correct, let us depart from here now," he growled, his blue eyes maintaining their steely gaze, but his protective instincts were kicking in rapidly, and he was ready to fight if trouble came to them.

Kumikio had smelled the blood, heard the yell, but hadn't thought much of it until her companions started to react to it, Michi desperately tugging her sleeve, urging that they needed to leave now, Akuma agreeing with her, his hackles raised as his fight-or-flight kicked on.
The kitsune lady only nodded, before she tucked the music box away into a satchel she carried on her belt, along with her other possessions and her kodachi.
Her bow, Brightwing, and her arrow quiver sat squarely on her back, she would be prepared to take out either of her weapons if a fight was sure to come.
Kumikio stood up, her charm magic continuing to disguise her kitsune ears and tails, before she turned to her companions, ready to allow them to lead her to a safer area.

With a devilish smirk, Cheshire leaned in towards Xepher. His uneasiness at this point was almost palpable and made her skin crawl with excitement. Who knew what strange ideas where going through her head on what she had asked of him and what she she was doing now. She put her right hip against his, aligning herself with him and facing the opposite direction as her hand pressed firmly and opened palmed into his chest.

A rock fell from up on the falls with a plunk into the dark, star-reflecting waters of the lake, Crickets fell silent at the noise, giving an the air an eerie feel. Cheshire paused only a moment to squint up to the top of the falls but couldn't see anything in the darkness and so dismissed it. Slowly the crickets came back to life as she stood on her toes, leaning to whisper to Xepher.

"This will probably feel weird," she began quietly, as she looked at the air just behind him. On cue the air began to shimmer as if from heat and then clarify into a view of her dorm bedroom. Carefully she shifted her weight onto her left foot and moved her right forward and out behind him. "but if you feel like you need to puke... Don't. That's nast."

Quickly, Cheshire pulled her leg in at the knee, effectively buckling Xepher's own legs as she shoved him backward to fall into her portal. With the squeak of springs he landed on her already rumpled bed, with Cheshire herself leaping in after him, easily landing on the bed and jumping up and down beside him, trying and failing miserably at holding her laughter in as the portal closed and .

"Boo"

Zak whirled around, his eyes darting back and forth over the ground below him. "I smell fox." Zak hissed. The damn Raven said it saw nothing, what the ******** was this then? It wasn't just any fox, it was a fox demon. Zephel's face appeared in Zak's memory and his upper lip curled. Where there is one annoying pest, there is the leader. Or at least knowledge of her.

His sister had the habit of finding these friends who followed her without question and with reckless abandon. How she managed to be so magnetic he couldn't fathom. Zak's reasoning was that she gained a new power, that she was manipulating their thoughts and actions. Zak didn't understand friends, he didn't have the time for them.

Zak snapped his fingers and a cloak of darkness swallowed him silently and not even five seconds later he stepped out of the shadows at the bottom of the falls. Following the scent he moved quickly and silently. If you looked closely you could see he was walking about an inch above the ground, darkness cushioning his steps. He could hear multiple footsteps and took another deep breath. There were multiple demons, this confused him. He wasn't aware that Zephel was in acquaintance with others like him, but it's not like he kept a close tab on him.

He sunk back into the shadows when he felt he was close enough and then reemerged in front of the kitsune girl and her two guardians. Zak made a tsking noise and his lips curled. They reeked of fox and he could sense and concealment charm. Zak never cared for the company of kitsunes.

"You are not who you appeared to be." Zak said monotonously.

Kumikio walked after her kitsune companions, who walked directly by her side, they kept looking every which way, as if anticipating something was coming towards them.
She wasn't sure what it was, but she could sense the dark presence nearby, and figured that was why Michi and Akuma had been acting as they were.
Instinctively, her hand slid in such a position so that she could grab her kodachi and be prepared to fight.

Michi trotted hastily alongside her mistress, the twin-tailed fox's ears flicking about every which way to see if they were being followed.
So far, she could hear nothing, but she knew they weren't entirely safe until they had gotten out of here.

Akuma huffed as he lumbered on Kumikio's opposite side, glancing around in every direction in front of them, as if anticipating something to just leap out from the shadows at them.
He wasn't in any mood to fight with some shadow monster or demon or any of the sort, but his main priority was to escort his mistress to safety, and if anything tried to threaten them, he'd be prepared to fight.

The darkened trees of the forest soon emerged into view, she figured they would be much safer once they returned to the school's grounds.
Akuma and Michi seemed to be getting more and more unnerved by the second, it must be a strong, dark force that they were sensing, which made Kumikio frown slightly.
Her hand moved closer to her weapon, and she stopped, her companions stopping with her, just as a man appeared out of the shadows in front of them.
There was blood on his chest, and strips of flesh seemed to be missing from him in some places.
His hair was an odd, purplish tint, and his eyes... the eyes threw Kumikio off for a moment, but he certainly carried that dark feeling around him.
Sniffing the air a moment, it was a bit difficult for her to smell much else with the blood, but she could smell a hint of a scent she recognized, vampire...
As soon as the strange, dark man had appeared from the shadows, Akuma and Michi took a defensive stance beside her, hackles raised and wary eyes on the stranger.
They did not attack, though, but if this man meant any harm towards them, they would not hesitate to leap into action.
Kumikio sized up the man in front of her, hearing him make a sort of tsking noise and curling his lips, saying that she wasn't who she appeared to be.
" So, it seems I've been found out," said the kitsune woman, her voice and her gaze not having much emotion to them, she never did care much for vampires and demons, much less any type of unholy being, for that matter.
She paused for a moment, her eyes narrowing at him slightly, " Now then, if you would let me pass through here, I have no business in quarreling with you," she spoke, her eyes not moving from the man as she stood there, her still-concealed ears and tails flicking about this way and that, anticipating the strange man to make a move against her or something or the sort.

Zak made a side stepping motion to block her path and ignored the two runts that she called foxes completely. "Tell me, kitsune, do you know of another of your kind named Zephel? He hides his ears and tail and follows a girl with pink hair and an elf with blue. Your cooperation will be greatly appreciated and remembered." Zak spoke with a voice coated in honey suckle. Communication and being alluring was something he had perfected over the years.

Zak looked down briefly at the foxes, their fur bristled as their hackles raised and their eyes sharp. "I do not mean you any harm," Zak said smoothly, his gaze raising back to the fox girl. He watched her fingers twitch, ready to arm herself at a moments notice this caused him to smirk. Zak got off on people acting defensivly around him, it meant they were threatened or scared. He chuckled softly as his violet eyes scanned the trees. Ravens and crows flocked on the branches, there were a couple dozen of them and this made Zak chuckle. Minions will always come when there is potential food to be had.

"We don't have to make this a fight, Lovely. Just tell me where I can find the kitsune I'm looking for. Or someone else who could lead me to him. Give me the information I desire and I'll leave."

Kumikio attempted to move past the purple-haired man again, but he blocked her path again, and spoke to her, asking her if she knew another of her kind named Zephel.
He described the other kitsune that also hid his tail and ears, and follows a girl with pink hair and another, an elf with blue hair.
As he spoke of her cooperation would be greatly appreciated and remembered, she narrowed her eyes again, noting that he was sweet-talking her.
' Hm, if you're going to lie to a ancient priestess, you could at least make it a little more convincing,' she thought to herself, but otherwise, her eyes showed no emotion as she continued to gaze at him.
The purple-haired male gave a brief glance to Akuma and Michi, and told them he did not mean any harm.
Michi looked to Akuma, unsure of what to do, while the larger kitsune's expression barely changed, maintaining his same, steely-eyed look.
But otherwise, the two lowered their guard, if only slightly, they still did not trust this man, and were cautioning Kumikio to be careful.
She noticed him smirk slightly as he noticed her fingers move ever so slightly, prepared to grab for her kodachi if trouble came to them, but she did not grab it, her eyes continuing to gaze unwaveringly at him, not taking any notice of the mass of crows and raven alighting in the trees around them.
The purple-haired man spoke, saying that they didn't have to make this a fight, that if she just told him where he could find the kitsune he was looking for, or someone else who could lead him to said kitsune, he would leave.
Kumikio's mouth drew into a hard line, " I know not of this 'Zephel' you speak of, nor do I know of any 'pink-haired girl' or 'blue-haired elf'.
However, if you desire to cooperate with me, if you happen to have an item that you may have acquired from any of those people, then, perhaps Michi, Akuma, and I could assist you in seeking them out,"
she spoke to him, her voice soft and hushed, but loud enough to be heard.
As much as she did not like to entertain the idea of working with this vampire, sensing that his intentions for these people were not the best, perhaps she could also benefit from this, if she would be lead closer to finding her sister.
But she kept her gaze and stance still as she watched the man, awaiting for an answer from him, Michi and Akuma looking between the two of them.
They did not like the idea of assisting this vampire either, but they would go along with their mistress's choice, no matter what.

Zak frowned as the kitsune stated she knew not any of the people he was searching for. Zak was sure they had made themselves known enough in the area with their incessant need to be involved in everything. He hissed slightly and the ravens and crows rustled their feathers nervously. They did not exactly follow their master willingly, it was more of an ancient bond and prophecy that they had to respect. They were not fond of his constant mood fluxes and violent tenancies.

Zak listened to her offer of help and he knew from dealing with decades of people that one did not help a person without expecting something in return. This vampire (as young as he was to this life) was not stupid, he could sense the power behind this woman and knew that the she wanted more than just an escape. Zak could not trust the birds that sat watching in the trees, they had abandoned him before and he was sure they would do it again. Therefore, Zak counted himself as outnumbered.

"I do have an item," the vampire said, his violet eyes gleaming. A shadow swirled in his hand and a backpack appeared. Reaching in he pulled out a stuffed rabbit, it was old and decrepit, held apart by a toy's will to survive. It was his sister's from their childhood. Zak eyed the woman again. "What is it you expect to gain from assisting me?"

Kumikio noticed him frown when she told him that she did not know of any of the people he was looking for, hearing a small hiss as well.
Her concealed ears flicked back and forth as she heard the mass of black birds in the tree ruffling their feathers, sensing that they were on edge.
But she paid little heed to them, her eyes never leaving the purple-haired vampire in front of her.
Michi and Akuma seemed to have calmed down somewhat, though they were still in guard stance, the little twin-tail's eyes flickering back and forth between the vampire and her mistress, while Akuma's steely-eyed gaze remained the same as always.
Kumikio saw the gleam in the vampire's eyes when she had offered her assistance, and he said that he did have an item.
A shadowy swirl appeared in his hand, dissipating as quickly as it came, and a backpack was left in its place.
The vampire reached into the backpack, and pulled out what looked to be a toy of some sort, a stuffed rabbit, though it was worn down from years of wear and tear, though it was still somewhat recognizable.
" Michi, Akuma, if you would be so kind..." she said softly to her two kitsunes, pointing to the stuffed rabbit in the vampire's hand.

Michi gave a solemn nod, and stepped closer to the vampire, unsure of what to think of him.
His dark presence unnerved her greatly, but he had told them he didn't mean any harm, she supposed they could trust him, for now at least.
The twin-tails leaned in, sniffing at the toy to get a thorough reading of the scent on it, before moving about, sniffing the air to place a match to the scent on the toy.

Akuma's gaze never wavered as he too sniffed the toy, he did not trust this vampire in the least sense, but he would follow his mistresses's wishes without fail.
If she wanted to cooperate with this creature, then he would deal with it for the time being.

Kumikio watched as her companions took in the scent that lingered on the derelict toy, then lifted her eyes as the vampire asked her what she expected to gain from helping him.
She kept her gaze steady, as she replied, " I wish to gain naught, other than that I may be led closer to the trail of my sister, that, I will be able to do on my own."
The kitsune woman never turned her gaze from him, she did sense that his intentions for the people he had listed off weren't the best, and, though she knew not of what they were exactly, she would only assist him in locating them.
Her attention was abruptly turned as Michi and Akuma suddenly barked out, indicating that they had locked on to the scent, and were looking in the direction of the school.
" Seems they have caught on to your wanted person," she said, and without further hesitation, she moved over towards Akuma, mounting him and situating herself on his back.
" Lead us there," she softly commanded to them.
Nodding, Michi immediately bounded off into the forest, moving with uncanny grace and speed through the trees, Akuma, with Kumikio on his back, followed not too far behind, chasing the tails of the smaller kitsune as they tracked the scent towards the grounds of the school.
