Kiriwar was drawn into walking about Ista Weyr, hoping for a touch of relief from the warmth that was building in the Candidate quarters, courtesy of the volcano below their feet. He fanned himself a little, sighing heavily as he wandered in search of some place even the slightest bit cooler. He liked heat well enough, all sorts of heat -- now that was a sneaky thought, he mused -- but this was a bit too much, with added humidity from the rain. The Vintner sighed and went into the dining hall, wondering if he could find anything cool to eat.

Simply getting himself a mug of water and a few pieces of fruit, the Vintner then made his way back towards the Candidate quarters, wanting to just stay in his room for now, rather than dealing with the noisy bustle of the Dining hall. He ate the fruit as he went, saving some for while he relaxed, and preserved the water, taking his time in getting back -- rushing was no way too cool down.

He was unamused.

And Faranth he was sore.

Musing to himself, he wondered if there could have been any possible way that he could just find a suitable one-night stand. Perhaps he was just horrible at picking the right person, or if the Weyr was full of a bunch of clingy dimglows. He did have to admit that it was worse back in Ista Hold, and that weyrfolk seemed to have an innate understand of what one-night stands were - shells, he had experienced some good times despite the bad ones that littered through his experiences. Erisi probably wasn't the one to complain though, especially since he purposefully went out seeking that kind of attention.

The candidate reclined upon his bed for a few long moments, yawning tiredly into his hand. Eventually he would have to get up to do chores, and so with a groan he pulled himself off the hard mattress, moving to the end of his bed to pilfer through his trunk for something new to wear. On went a high-necked long-sleeved shirt, his grey tunic, and dark pants, hands fumbling to lazily tie a sash around his waist. His hair was pulled back into his characteristic loose pony tail, and then he was ready for the day.

Ignoring the discomfort in his backside, he pulled the collar of his shirt up just enough to cover up one of his partner's love bites. Ouch - he grimaced at remembering that. Either way, he exited the barracks just as another candidate was entering him, and narrowly missed hitting the other boy.

"Eh?"

He didn't feel like being articulate. He was in a poor mood.

Kiriwar was not expecting to run into someone else on his way into the barracks again. Especially not someone who seemed so... roughed up, and upset. For a long moment, the Vintner just stared, blinking slowly and quirking a brow over the brief sight of marks on the boy's neck. Oh, he knew those well... Clearing his throat a little, Kiriwar offered a smile, albeit a crooked, awkward, and vaguely nervous one, looking the other over once more.

"Pardon," he spoke finally, shifting aside to let the other pass. "I didn't mean to get in your way." Was this the one he heard last night...? He could have sworn he heard something... The Vintner sighed quietly, shaking his head a touch, only able to hope he wouldn't be kept up again that night, moving into his own little area, leaving the curtain open to let in fresh air.

Blue eyes flashed briefly to Kiriwar's face, brows scrunching together in displeasure at the sight of him. He knew the other candidate had seen the mark on his neck, and Faranth, he suspected the candidate knew well enough what he had been up to last night, and that made him all the more irritable. He downright glowered at the other boy, tugging out his ponytail with a little grunt so he could better conceal the marks on his neck. It was a blunt move, but shells, he didn't want to be pestered over it all day. That, and he didn't want the Candidate's Master to see the marks and suspect that Erisi was up to exactly what he was up to.

"Yeah," he grunted in response to the other candidate for lack of better things to say (that did not include cussing at him and berating him for being enough of a dimglow to get in his way). "Don't do it again." Okay, so he couldn't help but snap a little, and then with a little groan he turned back to the barracks and returned to his bed. Digging through his trunk, he tried to find the better pair of sandals that he wanted to wear. He showed no signs of giving Kiriwar the least bit of attention after his rude words. No, Erisi was just going to simply pretend that the other Candidate did not exist.

Also, next time he totally wouldn't grimace when he knelt down.

Kiriwar was surprised again by the curtness of the other's voice, idly watching him from his own bedspace as he ate some of the fruit he brought and sipped at his water. It was odd and a touch funny to watch the other, clearly able to tell what he had been up to without it having to be said. "I'll try to stay out of your way," he said, not meaning any harm in his words, simply assuring the other that he... well, had meant no harm. It was hard to hold his tongue for the next few moments, able to see the other grimace when he knelt, wanting to...

"I have a touch of numbweed, if you want. S'from a scrape I got a bit ago," he spoke up finally, shifting in his bed and sitting up a bit more, leaning to watch the other.

Erisi stiffened as the other candidate spoke, because he was hoping the other would get the hint that he was in a horrible mood, and thus didn't want to be bothered. Blue eyes narrowed as he turned his head to fix a level stare upon Kiriwar. While the offering was sorely tempting, he knew what the candidate suspected, and it made everything worse. Knowing these kinds of situations, he suspected that Kiriwar assumed he was gay, and assumed correctly that some numbweed would probably do him good in the terms of temporary relief. "No," he replied, voice tight with tension. Again he gave Kiriwar a dismissive gesture by turning his gaze back to the trunk. His dusty black hair curled just slightly over his shoulders, cunningly concealing the marks on his neck that he was positive the other candidate had already seen.

The only thing that made him speak up again was the drive to assure the other that he was perfectly straight, and so he immediately moved to denial that he had done anything with any man the previous night before. "It's not needed, I just pulled a muscle in my lower back yesterday afternoon." That was a perfectly reasonable explanation, and could account for why he grimaced when he initially bent down to dig through his trunk. He hoped the other would eat it up, or at least pretend to. He didn't want to fall into a worse mood than he already was in.

Kiriwar could almost feel the tension growing in the air -- he had definitely asked the wrong question for this situation. But it seemed that an argument wouldn't spark just yet, so he relaxed slightly, sighing a little. "All right, just figured I'd offer," he said, sitting back on his bed and closing his eyes halfway.

"Ah, I can understand that... Just settle with something warm later, it'll help it ease up," Kiriwar said once the other spoke up again -- oh, he knew that was not the situation. But there was no way he was going to bring it up, given how Erisi had reacted to him just looking at the other boy's marks on his neck. So he just settled comfortable, glancing briefly in the direction of the other. He was rather pretty, to be honest...

Erisi knew that the other candidate had complete and perfect knowledge about what he had been up to the previous night. Knowing that Kiriwar knew was enough to make him grumpy, but so long as the other candidate didn't come right out and say it, it was likely that Erisi would let him slip away with the knowledge and not contest it. Then again, if Kiriwar wanted to be blunt with him, it could become a very unpleasant day for the both of them. Erisi's temper was easy to rouse, and he was definitely not an easy person to get to calm back down again. Of course, Ista Weyr hadn't been given ample opportunity to see all of Erisi - and so it was easy to make the mistake that he was open to discussing it.

He wasn't.

And shells, he'd kick anyone's wherry-a** who thought so.

"I will," he replied shortly, finally managing to find his sandals. He slipped them on his feet without another word and cast a brief glance to Kiriwar. He did not willingly want to be up and moving, but he was hungry, and he wanted to catch lunch before it began to change into dinner. "Thanks for the advice though." Faranth, he didn't even want to stand up.
