Do you think they will protect you in a break in situation.
Well there a thread about this going on in the boxer forums. I was just wondering what everyone thought about this topic.
I think that it comes naturally to a dog. If someone wanted to hurt your family you would do what you could to protect them right. Well I'm pretty sure a dog would want to protect their family if someone tried to hurt them to
Well I'm pretty sure Abby and Bo would. I have a few stories though
With Abby when we first got her she loved everyone even strangers. Well I was about 10 or 11 when I was walking her one day she was about 6 months old. I was walking her the route I usually did past the park and so I was going to take her to the creek n the park. There was this guy who was sitting on a bench and as soon as she saw him she took off in the other direction dragging me. I was shocked and she would stop and look back and at one point she stopped and the guy stood up and she took off not stopping until we gott home then she looked back and darted inside.
Bo just turned one. When he was like 4 months old a person was walking past the house while we were all outside and he asked to pet Bo. We said sure, but Bo wouldn't have any of it as so as the guy stepped onto the lawn and approached he went bananas. He barked his head off running circles around the guy. He will bark at pretty much everyone walking past our house and the people waiting at the bus stop. We may train him to be a guard dog by going to a professional trainer. The only thing that made us not trust Bo 100% is that he let people walk onto our property and steal my dad's ATV, but Abby heard something and wanted to get out of my room but I was to lazy to let her out. I'm pretty sure he will defend us in a break in situation but you can never be sure. That's why my dad says you need to know how to defend yourself. He said the dogs may be able to hold them off until you have a chance to get a weapon like a gun out and protect your family
Here's another thing that happened around christmas I believe. Well the door had been unlocked and the dogs were out in the living room. It was like new years or something. Well a drunk lady walked into our house and Abby went crazy she was barking and growling at the lady but Bo was sitting on the couch staring at her. Bo was a puppy then about 5 months old. My mom came out to see what abby was growling and and said who are you. She said her name and asked to use the phone. My dad said no and showed her out the door. She stumbled back down the street to the park where she had come from. It was pretty scary but now were more cautious and Bo has become more of a watch dog than he was about 4-5 months ago
So what do u think. Do u think your dog will try to protect in a home invasion or protect you if something tries to hurt you? You can post stories if like.
I believe my dogs would try to protect us, but I'm hoping that theory won't be tested anytime soon.

Hm well i have 3 dogs in my house. Teddy,Romeo, and Teardrop. Romeo is the backyard dog and he doesn't like ANYONE that isn't my parents, my sister, or me. We have another house in the back and people live there so Romeo doesn't do anything to them but he still barks when they get too close to out house. He is a pretty small dog compared to others but he has a mighty bark. The thing is he probably wont bight (which is good i guess) and he just runs and barks in circles like crazy around the person he doesn't recognize.
TEDDY! on the other hand is a biter. The second you enter your presence into the house he will start biting your pants off. He is even smaller than Romeo and a poodle but he is ferocious! xp
And Teardrop is still a baby and he is the dog that you can just play with and wont do anything. Very adorable. 3nodding (even though Romeo doesnt like him)
So....My dogs work best where they are i guess. If someone even thinks about going through the back door Romeo is there and he gives an alarm like no other. That makes Teddy wake up from where ever he is and go and help out Romeo. And Teardrop is the dog you hug if you get scared. They all work together xd

Hard to say.
But I would suspect that most dogs will protect their owners if they feel they are truly threatened.

Sadly i have had the experance that my dogs where protecting our home...
We had this old guy who walks past our house with his dog and he would carry a stick or cane (not quite sure) and he would hit our fence every night as he walked past if our dog where barking to loud at him and his dog . you could tell our dogs did not like him at all everytime we would call them etc they would not listen only for this pictular old man anyway one day he let his dog sniff under our fence which our dog emily got him and attacked him badly.... crying but the dog man said it is what dogs do to protect there pack so i feel totaly safe around her now knowing i am apart of her pack but hopfully it never comes to that again cry
