Well, I'm not sure if it makes pagans look good or bad...but my favorite pagan themed movie has got to be the 1973
The Wicker Man. I love it. I rewatched it recently, and all I could think was "How could anyone root for Sgt. Howie? He's being a complete jerk! I'd root for Lord Summerisle even if I WASN'T a Witch!" Well...I guess the human sacrifice makes us look bad...but still, Howie was a jerk!!! *lol*
But that's my favorite movie, I think in general now. I love the music. I keep singing it all the time lately. It gets stuck in there. *lol*
As for bad....well,
The Craft is kinda a double edged sword - it portrayed us as vengeful little dabblers whose powers can just disappear, but it also brought many seekers to the Craft and made it a little more accessible and a little more acceptable.
The
Witchcraft movies (horror movies) were awful for Witches - of course it portrayed us as "evil" and as worshippers of "Satan" and all that crap.
i was gonna say the wickerman lol,
its not based on witchcraft per say as its actilly based on a fair few actual true symbols of celtic paganism.
for example the Salmon of wisdom and the woman jumping over the fires for the Beltaine celebrations.
(only examples that was on my mind at the mo)
theres no proof of the Druids using a wickerman for sacrifce infact there is no proof of a wickerman being used in the celtic tradition at all.
it was more than likley roman propergander.
theres a coven near where we do a fair bit of ritual
thay cast a circle useing a song from the wickerman "facepalm".
there the more fluffy bunny pagans as we call them lol
