Crimiel walked briskly down one of the weyrs halls heading away from the eating hall, stomach empty. He'd not wanted to explain to the drudges as to why exactly he had stuck his head into the kitchens, well after they had finished up, instead making the excuse he was looking for Toad, hoping none of them had noticed the brown tail draped below his neck. He's sure they did.

He had used the time while everyone was thoroughly busy and engrossed in the latest gossip over supper to sneak a look at the eggs currently sitting, before Toads constant trilling had given them away and Crimiel had fled, not wanting to face the angry queen.

Turning a corner the flitt in question, currently tangled in his hair, cooed. "Shush, you" Crimiel bit out, voice lacking any real venom to it. Continuing his seemingly destinationless trek - which, Crimiel admitted, it very much was - he nodded cordially to others he passed with the exception of other weyrbrats, who were pointedly ignored, Crimiel made his way outside again.

Glancing around, never quite sure what to do with himself in moments such as these, when he'd finished his chores for the evening and had no will to join the others in their games, Crimiel ran a hand threw his hair, letting his shoulder relax. The lake should be near empty about this time, he thought idly, changing directions. Toad bugling happily at the direction choice, leaning far in front of Crimiel it was a wonder the flitt didn't topple right off.

Marko liked it when the lake was empty; it meant that he didn't have to go searching for a place to be alone while he was practicing. Marko wasn't by nature an unsociable man, but he found that far too many weyrfolk were more interested in asking questions than they were in allowing a hard-working Harper to put in his daily time with his flute. Of course, practicing around the lake was dangerous to the poor instrument, but Marko was trying out a set of panflutes he had recently purchased, and they weren't of particularly high quality.

He wasn't particularly engrossed in the music and had plenty of time to realize that someone else was making his way down, but a quick glance told him that whoever it was either lacked a dragon or was separated from it, and Marko was perfectly all right with that. Altering the course of his wandering so he was moving toward whoever was coming down, he brought the pipes to his lips and tried out a simple traveling song he had learned from a Trader. The panflutes were well-suited to basic songs of that nature, and Marko was reasonably pleased with the quality of sound.

As he came closer to the other walker, he noticed the flit and suppressed a grimace; he wasn't vehemently against the little beasts, but he preferred to avoid anything that could bite him nonetheless. Rubbing his side absently as he wondered what exactly he was doing in a Weyr full of dragons, he shook his head and tucked the pipes into a small pouch on his belt. Hands free, he lifted one in greeting to the newcomer. "Evening," he said lightly in his characteristic drawl.

Toad positivly vibrated in his excitment at the sound of the pipes, trilling loudly - and quite horribly in Crimiels opinion - along with the simple tune. Clapping a hand to Toads muzzle, he resisted the urge to stuff the obnoxious flit up his tunic in a vain attempt to shut the little brown up, muffled bugles still making it past the hand wrapped around his snout. With a muffled squawk of indignation and a relatively harmless n** at fingers Toad blinked between only to reappear a moment later, missing his mark of Crimiels other shoulder to instead topple down in a flurry of wings and shrieks.

Crimiel groaned loudly. Faranth, it was just his luck to get saddled with such an obnoxious little creature. Shaking his head he looked in the direction the tune had come from; not many in the Weyr able to play much of anything, let alone in tune, for the life of themselves. His brows rose lightly at the sight of the Harper, biting his lips to keep the grin off his face at the sight of the other mans grimace.

Word had spread like quickfire among the Weyrfolk when the Harper had been stationed at Ista, causing quite a few drunken laughs after a wineskin had been passed around once too many times. Though Crimiel was considered far too uptight by others to of participated in such a pastime even he had heard of the Harpers aversion to the Weyrs dragons.

Continuing his trek towards the lake it was with a feeling of surprise as Crimiel paused to return the Harpers casual greeting, not having expected anything but to courteously pass each other. "Good evening, Harper" his brows drew downward, habitual frown settling once again across his features. "I'm not... interrupting, am I?" He motioned back to the area by the lake the other had apparently given up.

"The lake belongs to the weyrfolk, not to me," Marko answered mildly, keeping an eye on Toad's peculiar antics and deciding that if he had to spend time with a flit, this particular one was not going to be of much harm to him. "I'm just using it while the rest of you are away." He smiled slightly but not widely and shrugged. "But trust me, you aren't interrupting any more than most." Which was, admittedly, a lot, but there was no reason to put whoever this was on his guard.

He wasn't entirely sure who this person was, but the odds were good that he was a Candidate; it seemed like you couldn't throw a rock without hitting one of those. But Marko wasn't about to make an introduction before someone else did. He was a guest and he wasn't about to presume anything without permission. Mostly because he didn't want to be on anything's bad side.
