The morning's warm sunlight filtered down through the trees to give the rock Tolfitken was currently perched on a fuzzy glow. She trilled a few notes, immitating a movie she had recently seen, plucking a small sprig of grass to inspect while she trilled a few more notes and awaited the arrival of her singing companion. Her voice lifted in the clear air and filled the surrounding forest, gaining much the effect the singer in the movie's voice had had. Smiling at the similiarity, though her own voice had a sweeter quality to it, she tried a few of the longer trills it had held.

She was immensely satisfied at her ability to fill the air with such wonderful music, though it had taken her a long while to be able to so. Another breath flowed down her throat and then back out, this time carrying words.

"I wonder, I wonder,
I wonder why each little bird has a someone
To sing to, sweet things to,
A gay little love melody~

I wonder, I wonder,
I wonder if my heart keeps singing,
Will my song go winging
To someone, who'll find me
And bring back a love song to me~"

Her smile turned more wistful as the song ended, her thoughts fluttering towards the one she was waiting to meet with. She did not think about all that had happened to them before, all of the heartache and turmoil and literal disaster that had befallen them. Heart fluttering as her song had earlier, knowing that all of the sadness she had dwelt in before was nothing compared to the wonderful happiness that filled her now, she sang again. This time her voice even more light and airy as it called out to the one she was waiting to meet.

"I wonder, I wonder,
I wonder if my heart keeps singing,
Will my song go winging
To someone, who'll find me
And bring back a love song to me~"

JoJo moved at a fast trot through the forest, knowing somehow that he was the one being waited on. At least it hadn't been out of hesitation; he felt he had conquered his discomfort at Tolfitken resembling a human. He had just been feeling a little odd, the way he usually did when he felt a natural disaster coming that was a week or two away.
But in this instance, he had just loitered a little too much; he was relieved when he heard a snatch of song coming from up ahead. Recognizing the words, he smiled and slowed his pace. When the song stopped, he cleared his throat and walked out from the trees, the words to another song coming easily as he spotted Tolfitken and walked toward her.

One song,
I have but one song,
One song,
Only for you.
One heart, tenderly beating,
Ever entreating,
Constant and true.

One love,
That has possessed me
One love,
Thrilling me through,
One song,
My heart keeps singing,
That one song,
Only for you.

Looking up at his voice, Tolfitken grinned, sitting up from her laid back position so her red and blue eyes could find him. Trilling a few more notes, she swept off of her rock to stop and crouch down to offer him a hug in hello. She was almost sure he was comfortable with her new form now, and tried to show no hesitation for fear of her being uncomfortable making him uncomfortable, and so kept her smile light and happy, which was not hard for her to do in her current mood, and enjoyed the breif contact.

She then backed away and twirled, dancing a little as she sang the rest of her greeting.

I know you, I walked with you once upon a dream
I know you, the gleam in your eyes is so familiar a gleam
Yet I know it's true that visions are seldom all they seem
But if I know you I know what you'll do,
You'll love me at once,
The way you did once upon a dream

Feeling so much more comfortable with Tolfitken's human form, JoJo was thrilled to not have flinched at all when she hugged him. He watched her dance away and continue to sing. He wasn't sure if he was supposed to continue when she was finished, but she had pretty much sung the entire song, and at the moment, he was having trouble thinking of something to sing back.
So instead, when she finished, he walked up to her and ventured a friendly head rub. "I'm glad you're singing again." He could still remember how they had used to sing, even back when they were still figuring each other out and had continued to dance on the border between caring deeply and annoying each other enough to walk off in a huff. Such a long way they had come since then. Tolfitken was more human, and though his change wasn't as visible, he'd changed too. He had managed to love again, after all this time, and take a firm hold on the hope that life might not hold nothing but sorrow for him after all.
"I'm trying to think of a song we can sing together....if you want to keep singing, that is."

Tolfitken smiled down at his head rub, "I'm glad, too, I missed it so much." They had come a long ways, from an uneasy love-hate type of freindship, and into something more. Even if fate did decide to throw more hardships at them, they would not be alone in facing them. She had gained so much from him, a freind, a voice, a love; there was no way she could turn back to how she was before. Which made her all the more happy.

"Of course I want to keep singing!" she grinned, "And it'll be even more fun singing with you." Her mind started going through all of the duets she knew, but most of them were Disney songs. Although she had nothing against Disney, and most of them were good songs, she didn't know if they would be something JoJo would want to sing. She tilted her head to the side and looked at him, "Did you have a song or two in mind?"

"Hmm..." JoJo found himself pondering. He knew plenty of duets, but he tried to think of one that they were both sure to know. Tolfitken seemed to know a lot of the Disney songs, the older of which he truly enjoyed also, but there didn't seem to be many of those in duet form.
Though a nice short one did come to mind suddenly. "I know a small, slow one called 'So This Is Love'; do you know that one? Uhm....you'll have to start it, butof course, you know that already if you do know it. I also kow a nice one; I think it's called The Prayer; it's not Disney but it's nice."

"I know 'So This Is Love'," she replied, looking thoughtful. It was short, but sweet, to coin a cliche saying. Trying to identify the other one she finally shook her head, "I haven't heard of 'The Prayer'." Maybe they could do one duet they both knew, and then one that they could try to teach the other?

She pondered on that a bit, venturing a song she had heard from Neko's radio, doubting JoJo would know it, but thinking it might be a good fit for them. "Have you heard 'If You Say My Eyes Are Beautiful'?" she asked, waiting to see if he would be willing to learn it before suggesting her little idea.

JoJo shrugged a little, not really surprised at Tolfitken not knowing The Prayer; he himself only knew it from some of his own human's preferred list of songs. Though he was glad she knew at least one of the two he had suggested; wouldn't it be silly if they ran out of songs to sing together just because of varied knowledge!
He shook his head and smiled at Tolfitken. "I have not, but I would be willing to learn it, if you would like to teach it to me. I in turn could teach you how The Prayer goes; in the version I know, the female actually has the easier part." XD

"I was actually having the same idea," Tolfitken grinned, then pouted, "Aw, and here I thought I was going to get a challenge..." She wondered if her human would let her borrow her radio so they could play the songs for each other. And actually the song she had mentioned would probably be enough of a challenge for herself, since the female singer's voice was sort of like her own but not as sweet. She'd have to make sure she stayed true to her own voice and not try to sing like Whitney Houston. JoJo's voice might be a little harder, too, since she couldn't remember if the male vocalist sang a little higher than she was used to hearing JoJo sing or not.

((Reference-ness for The Prayer; best version ever 'cause Groban sings it. *_* 3nodding ))

Smiling, JoJo reached out to place a paw on Tolfitken's foot. "I'll learn yours first, if I can listen to it, then I can grab my human's copy of The Prayer and you can listen to it. That way we'll both learn a new song." He couldn't remember when he had been this happy, or imagine that his sharing his love of song would lead to something like this.

( Reference-ness for If My Eyes Are Beautiful
Groban is awesome~ And I know that song! :'D )

"I can see if my human can bring a radio for us, she's usually somehow watching all of us at the same time to do things like that," she replied, placing her hand over JoJo's paw and giving him a smile that reflected the happiness she saw in his eyes. The song she had chosen reflected her feelings for him almost perfectly, and she loved to listen to it now more than she loved listening to Greensleeves.

((^.^
Cute song. I can see Tollie & JoJo singing it.))

"Really? Our human does the same thing. XD I think she likes listening to me sing, since I sing a lot of opera-sounding things." He smiled back at Tollie, still trying to figure out just what had happened to turn the two of them from semi-rivals who tormented each other at every turn, to a loving couple with two beautiful children. Not that he was hoping anything less; that couldn't be farther from the truth. He was just happy that fate had decided to be nice to him after all this time.

At one time Tolfitken may have wondered something along the same lines. She would probably have followed every occurance that had led to their falling in love, from the discovery of his singing, to the tornado, to her Anthro-fy-zation, to the tsunami, right up to their beautiful children and all the fun they had in raising them.

That would be at one time; at this time, she was just too happy to worry about what had been in the past. All of the hurt and the distance and the confusion, all of it paled in comparison to the happiness she felt now and had found with JoJo and their singing. It made her want to enjoy the present and look to the future.

And a small part of her, not entirely a very small part of her, but small enough not to make her completely paranoid like she used to be, made her cling to every detail and aspect of happiness that she could find with her family. Never again would she allow outside forces to harm anyone close to her. At least, that's what she'd tell herself. Somewhere she knew that it was just impossible to actually accomplish that, but so long as she told herself it was, she beleived it was, and so it was.

She was happy, and JoJo was happy with her, that was the biggest thing that mattered at the moment.

"Well then, let's see if we can't find ourselves a radio." He blinked suddenly. "As a matter of fact, I think I might know a namir that has one; he likes to collect things like that, but the trick would be to get one that works." He smiled at Tolfitken. "I'll tell you what; if you get a copy of your song, I can get the radio to play it on, and I'll see if I can find The Prayer too."
He still had a hard time grasping his childlike eagerness to share his gift, as opposed to a while ago where he would only share it with the birds and the flowers and the trees. He even found himself thinking less and less of his past; of his sad beginnings, even of the boy and the forest fire. With Tollie, he could nuzzle her and curl up on her lap the way he had evisioned himself with the boy, had he ever had the chance to open up.

Ack, uber short post XP

"Al right, and I can find If You Say My Eyes Are Beautiful and see if I can grab my human's radio in case you can't find one that works," she said brightly, slipping away from him to disappear into the woods, wanting to get stuff as quickly as possible so she could return to JoJo as soon as possible. With how happy he made her it amazed her that she could stand to be apart from him for even the shortest of times.
