The House has made Caesar and his Parent comfortable in subdued pastel colors, and soothing patterns. The carpet is soft and gray, and the beds are fitted with matching bedclothes of a light red and light blue design. There is a computer in this room as well, and an exra door. The window in this room looks out over the back yard, and all the wildlife. The House asks you not to enter this room unless you are Caesar or his parent.

Caesar sat in a corner of his room, curled in a ball, staring melancholically out into the expanse. Kimi sat on the bed reading, occasionally looking up at him to see if he was ok. After seeing the same expression on his face, Kimi put her book down and stared at him.

He was always so paranoid, it kind of made her sad. She could tell it made him sad too. She could hardly imagine what it meant to think that EVERYONE was out to get you... she could almost relate, but she wasn't as paranoid as he was. She wanted to do something about it.

"Caesar!" She said suddenly, jumping off of the bed, causing him to flinch. "I have an idea!"

Caesar peered up at her, scared to know what it was.

"You have a mission!" she said. "A mission to find something to make you happier!"

Caesar looked up at her, waiting to hear the plan. To his suprise she walked off. After all, how was SHE supposed to know what would make him happy, he had to find something for himself!

Caesar stared around at the now empty room and shivered. He hated being alone and stupid Kimi was just... well... stupid. He continued to shiver as he stared around the room until he realized... he wasn't just scared... he was cold. He never noticed how cold it was in the House until just then. What he needed was a blanket, but he was too scared to go out and get one. He had never been anywhere by himself before and he was still getting over the shock of being left alone in his room. There was no way he could possibly go out into the House alone to search for a blanket. It was absurd.

Caesar sat in the room for several minutes. Of course to him it felt like hours, because he was uncomfortable and uncomfortable things always make time last longer than it really does. Finally, Caesar decided he had to have a blanket. At first he looked towards the beds to take a blanket, but he couldn't have those... they weren't all that warm. The sheets were warm and he was too small to take the sheets out from under the covers. With a sigh, he knew he would have to go out of the room.

He crawled slowly to the door and gulped as it swung open for him. He peered down the quiet hall and then in an action alien to him, he went out alone. The hall seemed to last forever. There were so many rooms and he didn't know which one to go into. All of the doors were closed, and he tried to do the same trick that got him out of his room, but it was of no avail. They wouldn't open to him.

After crawling a long time, he noticed an open doorway at the end of the hall. He turned around to see how far it had taken him to reach the doorway, but all he could see was darkness. He gulped and crawled forward into the room.

The room was dark. There were no lights on the ceiling, nor candlesticks on the wall. There was one window that let a stray moonbeam in that illuminated the floor. On the spot where the moonbeam hit the floor was a bundle of something. Caesar was too scared to go near it, but something told him that he must. He slowly crawled towards it and picked it up. It was soft and warm, a blanket. It was brilliant orange, but he didn't care. It would serve it's purpose: to keep him warm. He wrapped himself in it like a little Caesar burrito.

He enjoyed it immensly. The warmth made him happy and relaxed for once. Without realizing it, he had fallen asleep. When he awoke, he found himself in his room again. Kimi was once again reading in the bed. when he woke up, Kimi looked down and smiled at him.

"Nice blanket, Caesar," Kimi said. "Looks warm."

Caesar smiled from inside the blanket. He'd have to find a way to get Kimi out more often. He found neat things in the house and couldn't wait to see what else he would find.

((omg, got the blanket ^_^))

Kimi had left the room again. Caesar didn't know when, as he had been having a peaceful nap in his newly acquired orange blanket. He liked it a lot. It was comforting.

He lay on the floor wrapped in it, staring at the empty room. He was starting to feel lonely. He needed someone to play with while Kimi wasn't there. He thought about finding his friend Echo, but he didn't know where she was. He would have to deal with his lonliness in his room.

Minutes passed and his attention was drawn to the door. It was open. He was sure it wasn't open a second ago. He debated getting up to go shut it. He didn't want any of the creepy things in the House to get him. He wrapped himself tighter in his blanket. Then he stopped to think.

The House had supplied him with this blanket, maybe it wanted him to have something else. He had a vague idea that the House didn't just open it's doors for any random reason. Slowly he began to crawl to the door, but was hampered by the presence of the blanket engulfing him. He couldn't move with it on, but he didn't want to leave it. He was torn between what the House wanted him to do and the love of his blanket. Finally, he decided that the House was more important than the blanket. Making silent vows of love and promises to return to his blanket, he crawled out into the large expanse of hall.

He remembered recently crawling all the way to the end of the hall and hoped he wouldn't have to do it again, because he wanted to get back to his blanket. Fortunately for him, it wasn't that far. He came up to an empty room with the door open. He remebered from last time that the house had left a door open for him and knew that there was something in the room for him.

This time, the room was lit. The candles were all aglow and it was a cheerful atmosphere. In the center of the room was a table and a chair. He was just tall enough to climb up on the chair, so he did. From the chair, he climbed up on the table. At the center of the table was a drink and a red bag of candy. He didn't know what the house wanted him to do. So he took a sip of the drink and grabbed the candy. He slid off the table and off the chair and back onto the floor. From the floor, he crawled back to his room. The door closed for him.

He wasn't exactly sure what he was supposed to do with the candy. He wanted to eat it, but he couldn't open it. He tossed it on the ground and stared at it a while. Suddenly, he grew angry, like it was mocking him. He silently mocked it back. Then he began to laugh, as if it had said something funny.

....................

Kimi walked into a room a few doors down from her room. She sat down at the table with her book and took a sip from her drink. She grabbed blindly at the table for her bag of skittles, but she reached nothing. She looked down and saw the table empty except for her drink.

"Who took my skittles?" she yelled. She went around asking the other inhabitants what had happened to them, but she had no leads. She went back into her room to see if she had left it there. What she found shocked her.

Caesar was sitting on the floor, cuddling her bag of skittles. He made strange goo-ing sounds at it and pet it like it was a dog.

"Gimme back my skittles," Kimi said, leaning down to take them back, but Caesar refused to let them go.

"Come on, I'm really hungry!"

Caesar still would not let go.

"Fine then, keep it!" Kimi said. "God, it's like a little pet to you, isn't it?"

Caesar looked up at her and smiled as she said the word pet, like he agreed. Kimi stopped being angry at him for taking her skittles. Seeing him smile like that made her happy. If it cost her a bag of skittles, well... she was fine with that.

"We should give him a name," Kimi said. "How bout... Heinrich!"

Caesar looked at her, confused.

"I don't know," Kimi said. "I heard that name at school today and I thought it was neat."

Caesar regarded his bag of skittles, silently asking it if it liked the name Heinrich. Apparently it did, for Caesar smiled at Kimi once again.

"Alright," Kimi said. "Heinrich it is! Now go do something!"

Caesar agreed and brought Heinrich over to introduce him to his blanket.

Caesar was enjoying his new pet Heinrich. He had bumps on the inside when you squeazed him and he smelled fruity. Caesar liked the way Heinrich smelled.

Since the arrival of the blanket and his pet Heinrich, Caesar had been feeling much braver. Things did not seem so scarey to him as long as he had either of the two by his side. That was precisely the reason that he didn't hesitate to crawl out of the room when the door opened yet again.

Kimi had shown him how to tie is blanket around his neck like a cape so he could crawl with it. He had also taken to carrying Heinrich around in his mouth so his hands could be free. He crawled down the hall again and realized he wasn't as scared as he normally was. He wondered what the house had in store for him today.

He crawled along until he found himself in the living room of the house. He had only been there a few times and sat down to look around. Of course, he held Heinrich up to see. It was a foreign room to him. It looked nothing like the small room he was normally in and it entranced him. Especially the shinyness of it all.

Caesar, like his caretaker, Kimi, was a simple minded creature when it came to somethings. Shinyness was one of them. If he saw something that was shiney, it automatically took his attention and kept it for a while. The whole room was shiney... a window was open and the sun was shining in. The sun usually didn't shine in the House, signifying that this was a special happening, but Caesar didn't notice. All he was worried about was the shine.

There was one thing especially that caught his eye. It a was a spoon, probably dropped from the kitchen. It was lying next to one of the chairs and the sun caught it in such a way that the shine was overwhelming. Caesar thought it was the prettiest thing he had ever seen.

He slowly crawled towards the spoon and reached his hand out to touch it. Then, he grabbed it with his little hand and brought it towards him. Caesar was in a shadowey part of the room and he half expected it to lose it's shine as he brought it towards him, but it didn't. This pleased him even more. He spat Heinrich out of his mouth and showed him the spoon. Heinrich liked it so much that he wanted one. So Caesar set out to get another one.

He looked about the living room once more to see if there was anything else that caught his attention, but their wasn't. Caesar crawled out of the room into another room he had never been into before. Light filled up this room as well, and if he would have turned around, he would have seen the light in the living room fade significantly.

Caesar liked this room too. It was different from the living room. It wasn't as shiney, but it was still pretty. He liked the color of the walls and the shelves and shelves of books that were lining them. There were desks scattered around the room, and as Caesar looked at them, he realized how large the room was.

He crawled around for a long time, holding Heinrich and the spoon in his hand. He crawled up and down the rows of shelves, looking at what seemed to be endless amounts of books. He liked this place. It was quiet and he felt safe in it.

As he was crawling amongst the shelves, he noticed a dead end. Two book cases has been going straigt in a row, and a third one had cut them off and boxed them in. At the end of the book case, on the floor was a glint of light. Caesar greedily crawled towards it to see what it was. A small metal top lay on the floor, the string all in a not. He picked it up with his little fingers and held it up. It was gold. He liked it.

He spat Heinrich out of his mouth again and showed him the top. It wasn't the same as his spoon, but he wanted to know if it would do. Heinrich thought it did and Caesar squealed happily.

Hearing a familiar squeal, Kimi followed the sound. At the end of a dead end of bookshelves, she found Caesar with a spoon in his mouth, showing Heinrich, the bag of skittles, a golden top.

"What are you doing here?" Kimi asked him, picking him up. He didn't flinch like normal. She was impressed.

"That's a pretty top," she told him.

He grabbed the spoon with his other hand and showed it to her.

"That's a... pretty spoon," she said, trying to humor him. It worked.

"I don't know why you're in here," she told him. "You were supposed to stay in our room until I came back with a book for you."

Kimi brought him over to the shelf she had been at before he interrupted. She pulled out a book and showed it to him.

"I thought you might like this one," she told him.

Caesar smiled as if to say he was sure he would, and they both went back to their room.

((wow... a spoon... I am a moron))

It had taken a while before Kimi felt the need to leave Caesar on his own again. She knew he was now wandering around the house, and it really didn't bother her all that much. The reason for her delay in leaving was because she had no reason too. She knew Caesar only liked to go off when she wasn't around, and she didn't want to burden him with her. She also had a suspicion that he may have been stealing from the other House members and she didn't want to get caught with him. Of course, he wasn't stealing but she had no way of knowing.

Finally, seeing that Caesar was in need of another solo outing, Kimi came up with a plan. She was too lazy to actually leave the room, so she did the next best thing.

"Caesar," she said. "I'm going to take a nap now. Try to be real quiet so you don't wake me up."

Caesar nodded and went on playing with Heinrich, the top, and the spoon. After a while, Kimi started making snoring sounds, and Caesar grabbed his chance to leave. He didn't know Kimi was faking... he had never heard her sleep before (because he always fell asleep first) and had no clue that she didn't snore.

Caesar put down Heinrich and the shiney toys and wrapped them in his orange blanket. He silently promised that he would come back, and suggested that they nap like Kimi. Then, he crawled over to the door which swung open and allowed him to leave.

He didn't know what he wanted to do today or what the House wanted him to do, so he just decided to crawl. He was in need of excerise anyway. He had discovered a magical power hidden within Heinrich. Once open and eaten, if you left him on the desk over night, he would be whole again by morning. It didn't occur to him that Kimi was buying him more skittle packs, and he had continued to eat his friend everynight much to the dismay of Kimi's limited funding.

While crawling along, he spotted a door ajar. Lately, he had been feeling braver than normal, so he pushed open the door and crawled in. It was Miel (another resident of the house) and his guardian Syrie's room. Syrie was sitting on his bed and he appeared to be making something. Caesar crawled up to the foot of his bed and watched. It didn't take long for Syrie to notice him. He showed him what he was making, a yellow octopus plushie with a bow tie.

"You like it?" he asked.

Caesar made a happy noise and clapped his hands.

"Here, you can have it then," He said, handing the octopus to Caesar. "I can spare one."

Caesar grabbed it and hugged it to his face. He liked it. He waved good bye to Syrie and left the room. ((omg, YAY Syrie, you've replaced Deshi as my favorite!))

He was in the process of crawling back to his room to show Heinrich the octopus, but remembered that Kimi was "napping". He decided to go somewhere else and extend his stay in the rest of the House.

He crawled down the rest of the hall, throught the living room, and past the library. He came to another long, dark hallway. He felt fear coming back to him, but squeazed the octopus and felt courage come rushing back. He continued to crawl down the hallway. It was strange. There were no doors at all, only strange pictures of scarey people lining the walls with eyes that appeared to be following him. He hurriedly crawled past them, until he came to the end of the hall. It was a dead end. He had just turned around to crawl back to his room, as he had been gone long enough, when he heard a sound.

The sound was small and made the room less scarey. It was the jingling of a small bell. Caesar turned around to see where the sound came from, and he quickly found it. Propped against the wall where Caesar had recently reached a dead end was a small goat stuffed animal. It was brown, but had a peach colored butt. Around it's neck was a small bell. As the animal fell over, the bell jingled. Caesar looked around to see where it came from, but he couldn't find anything. He slowly reached his hand out and grabbed the goat. He giggled slightly as the bell jingled.

He was now ready to leave, but he had a problem. Both of his hands were now full with stuffed animal. He couldn't get anywhere. He almost sat down and cried, when he had an idea. He raised the goat plushie into the air and started to shake it. The sound of the bell travelled far. He shook it more and the sound travelled further. Someone was bound to hear it and he would be rescued. He shook it even harder.

From within her room, Kimi had heard a noise. She "awoke" from her "nap and sat up.

"What is that?" she asked. "Someone's got a bell now! Probably Deshi wanting to call me as a servant. Well I ain't going!"

She flopped back on the bed and waited for Caesar to return. But the bell didn't stop.

"Dammit, Deshi," she said, and reluctantly got up to go see what Deshi wanted. But Deshi was not in her room.

"I see what she's at," Kimi said. "She's playing mind games with me. Stupid bell."

She followed the sound of the bell into a hall she had never been in before. Suddenly the bell stopped.

"AHA!" Kimi said, jumping. "I found you Deshi!"

But there was no Deshi to be found. She looked down and saw Caesar at her feet, smiling, clutching a goat plushie and an octopus plushie. She bent down and picked him up.

"Where'd you get those?" she asked. "If you're stealing things, I'm going to deny it you know. You're getting all the heat for this, you little clepto."

Caesar didn't know what a clepto was, but happily jingled the bell at Kimi.

"Yeah, yeah," Kimi said. "You won't get in trouble, you're right. You're too cute."

Kimi brought him back to their bed room and plopped Caesar on the floor next to his blanket. He hurriedly got out Heinrich and showed him the octopus and the goat. Then, he ripped Heinrich open and began to eat the skittles on the inside. Kimi whinced.

"I'm glad Deshi's not like you," she said. "Kimi's don't come back when they've been eaten alive."

((yaaaaaaay stuffed animals!!!! and YAAAAAAAAAAY for Syrie who let me use him and gave me an octopus! *cookies for all*))
