The Art of Kugutsu

Introduction

Greetings. For those of you who are not aware, I am Kankurou, a mod of Sunagakure and brother to the Kazekage. I am here because I have noticed many people who have, as of late, taken the idea of being creative with being Kugutsu users a couple of steps over the line. So, instead of chastising them on an individual scale, I choose instead to write this article on the do's and don't's of the famous Puppet-Master Jutsu.

The Technique Itself

Kugutsu no Jutsu holds very many important concepts as a Jutsu: It requires precise control of chakra and a puppet or object of some sort to control. Therefore, this article will be in two parts: The chakra strain, and the objects themselves.

Chakra Control

Obviously, a Jutsu that sends out Chakra strings from one object to another from a specific tenketsu requires precise chakra control. This is also paired with the fact that, since it is a continuous effect, it is draining on the chakra stores. People who focus on Chakra Control, which is practically a necessity to Kugutsu users, would have medium to low physical strength, physical speed, or endurance during their career as a Genin, Chuunin, and possibly even as a young Jounin. It is also true that it would be quite rare for Puppet-masters to be able to control more then two complex puppets at once at Genin level, or more then four at Chuunin level.

The Puppets

Puppets are objects made to react to stimuli in order to perform some feat. There is a large range of possibilities of what Puppets can be, but they are typically made of wood, metal, or other objects compatible with the mechanical ingenuity of the Narutoverse, have no mind of their own, and need to be approved before use by an admin of the puppeteer's village in question, and myself. Puppets are largely varied in their complexity, but the difference between simple and complex can be easy enough to understand.

Simple Puppets

Simple puppets are puppets which serve one function other then movement. An example would be my puppet Sanshōuo, who only serves as a moving defensive wall. Movement does not count as a function, but more then one release of the one function makes for multiple functions and, hence, is not considered simple. These puppets require one or two chakra strings at most, even for Genin.

Complex Puppets

Complex puppets are puppets which serve more then one function. Two examples would be my puppet duo, Karasu and Kuroari, who serves more uses as tactical puppets then I can begin to describe. These puppets, by rule, should require at least one chakra string per function, with an eventual maximum requirement of five, for Genin-ranked shinobi. The maximum requirement for Genin would then be dropped by two for Chuunin-ranked shinobi, and at least another one for Jounin-ranked shinobi. Obviously, however, one needs at least one chakra string to perform the Jutsu.

Other possible uses of Kugutsu

Kugutsu has many uses outside of controlling puppets. One is a rather simple use of controlling objects that are both movable under normal circumstances and less then the weight the user can lift. Another would be, for advanced Kugutsu users of Jounin rank, the ability to control a willing participant's body with the Jutsu.

Types of Puppets

I decided that it would probably be better for me to put more detail into the little sub-system that's practically required for this particular sub-section of this Community's Ninja. This second post will be used to define the three general types of puppets one would see: Offensive, Defensive, and Tactical.

Offensive

These puppets serve the pure purpose of attacking the opponent. An example of such would be Karasu.

Defensive

These puppets serve the purpose of blockading or protecting either the puppetmaster or others the puppetmaster are protecting. An example of such would be my puppet Sanshuou.

Tactical

Tactical puppets are puppets that are used for strategic purposes. My puppet, Kuroari, is an example of a tactical puppet.
