Dr. Coverdale wrote out the prescriptions for the ear infection medience. "But two drops in her right ear, three times a day for a week. If she's not better after that, come back."

He shook Sly and Issac's hands, handed over the prescriptions and exited the room.

"Well that was fun," Sly said with a smile. "Let's go and get that prescription filled."

Issac nodded and left the room with Ramona. He knew Sly was following after them. As he approached the counter, Sly cut him off and handed over the fee for the visit.

"Sly," Issac started, almost growling.

"Come now, you've got your hands full. Let's get going," he said dismissively. He petted Issac's arm on the way by him with a smirk.

Issac sighed and made sure Ramona was wrapped up in the blanket properly before following him out to the car.

Sly pulled up to the store and got out. They had figured it'd be easier if Issac and Ramona stayed in the car. He wandered around the store as the prescription was being filled.

Paying for it, he sighed mentally at the thought of putting the drops into her ear. He got in the car and handed the medience over to Issac before driving back home.

As they pulled up he was surprized to see that someone was at their front door. But as he got nearer he saw that it was just Cat. Wonder where Cat's been...

Sly got out of the car and took the medience from Issac. He was still pondering where Cat had been, until he saw the shopping bag. He smiled to himself as he walked up the stairs with Issac.

Picking Ramona up from the back, Issac followed Sly into the house. He also wondered what Cat was up too. He'd never really talked to the kid before, but since he was going to be staying here for the week maybe that would change.

Issac moved into the living room and flicked on the lights. He sat on the couch and read the directions on the medience after Sly had joined them. Insert 2 drops in to ear 2x daily for 7 days. Sounds easy enough, Issac thought.

He laid Ramona down on his lap and handed her the bunny. She seemed pretty tired, and he assumed it must have been from all the screaming she'd already done. Sly held the bottle as he unscrewed the cap and quickly put two drops into Ramona's ears.

Just about the time Ramona was about to fall asleep, she felt something cold and wet in her ear. That she did not like. So she did what she does best, screaming and thrash about.

Issac held Ramona still as gently as he could until she was done. Sadly everytime she started up it seemed like it took longer to calm her down. But because he had to hold her, it was up to Sly to do it.

After a good lenght of time, she settled down and closed her eyes. Issac smiled. Finally, he too could sleep. Leaning his head back on to the couch he too found his way to sleep.

Sly softly smiled at the pair. Who would have guessed it? Pulling a blanket off a near by chair he covered the pair up best he could and went to do some reading.

But instead of reading he recalled what Issac said. Ramona apparently cried for no reason, even when she was healthy. That was sort of concerning, but he couldn't do anything about it. Other than pray the four of them could make it through the week, sane. Well, at least not make Cat less insane.

Issac sat holding Ramona. The week was going by as quickly as it could, given the disposition of Ramona. She at least had stopped rubbing her ear so much. Too bad the crying and fussing after the ear drops hadn't subsided, in fact, now she seemed to know when it was time to get them. Which of course made things worse.

Ah well, it's almost time for us to return. Just a few more days, Issac thought as he watched Ramona playing with Bunny on the floor.

Right now it was just Cat and himself at home. Sly had left to do whatever it was he had to do. And he'd only really seen Cat at meal times, as he preferred his room upstairs.

As his thoughts drifted, he looked up at the ceiling. But when he heard Ramona giggling almost, he looked back at her. Issac was suprised to find Cat sitting there watching her.

Figuring that Cat wasn't a threat, he didn't say anything. Yet he wondered how Cat appeared so suddenly. Well he had his own secerts too, and somethings were better left unasked.

"Feeling to the do better, Ramona?" Cat asked. Of course the girl couldn't answer him, but he didn't seem to care or mind.

He propped his head on a bent knee and watched her play. Eventually he snagged another animal off of a shelf near by, so he too could play.

The stuffed frog hopped his way up to her bunny. He pretended to bow and ask, "I've come to visit today, mind if with you I do play?"

Ramona chewed on the Bunny's ear while closely watching the frog. As she peered on, she dropped Bunny's ear from her mouth and moved it closer to the frog.

She tried to imitate the hopping of the frog with Bunny to Cat's amusment.

Cat smiled as Bunny joined the Frog. He and Ramona happily played for a while. Until, as usual, Ramona became frustrated and started to bawl.

Ramona had decided she no longer wanted to play with Cat. And she did what she usually did to show she didn't like something/wanted something....crying.

Cat quickly abandoned the stuffed frog. He cocked his head to the side, trying to figure out what happened. Everything had been going so well, too. He tried making funny faces at her to get her to calm down, but that failed.

He watched as Issac picked her up and rocked her. Smiling, he retreated to sit in an oversized chair on the other side of the room. At least he had fun with her. Maybe tomorrow, they could play again.

Issac sighed as she started to cry. Seeing that Cat was unable to stop her crying, he scooped her up. He rocked her as he took his seat back on the couch.

"Don't worry about it, Cat. No one really knows what makes her start suddenly start crying," Issac said. He didn't know if Cat thought it was her fault or not.

"Be it to the do OK," Cat responded as he watched the pair. "Tommrrow to the play is the do alright?"

Issac puzzled over what Cat just said. Once his mind put the words in the right order, he nodded. "I think she'd like playing with you again. At least until we have to go back," Issac said.

It was good for her to make new friends, after all. Even if they didn't live in the house. This way she'd have a friend or two on the outside, should she ever find herself here.

And so the days passed in such a manner. Cat would play with Ramona at least once a day for the remainder of their stay. And Ramona, with help from the medience got better.

Issac had finished packing his bag and loaded it into the car. He'd talked Sly into taking them grocery shopping, so the House would have plenty of food. They apparently were going to some warehouse type place so they could buy in bulk.

Issac turned around to take Ramona from Sly, when he noticed Cat standing near to the car. He quirked an eyebrow and waited for him to say something.

Cat handed Issac a couple of items. "Ramona, for the to do are," he said with a broad smile.

Issac looked down at the items in his hands. "Thank you very much. I'm sure she'll enjoy them."

Cat nodded and petted Ramona on the head. He waved bye and bounded back into the house.

Sly smiled as he watched the exchange. Sliding into the car, he watched as Issac seated Ramona and them himself. He looked over at what Cat had given Issac before driving off.

"That was nice of him," Sly commented as he drove.

Issac nodded and pocketed the wings for now, and handing the new plushy back to Ramona. Judging by her gurgling she like it a lot.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After the store, Issac directed Sly to the House. He only had Sly help him load everything up to the front door of the House. Then he handed Ramona off to him to watch for a bit. She just stared at the House and chewed on her Bunny's ear.

Sly watched as Issac carted stuff into the house. He assumed Issac was unpacking as he went, because of the time between loads. He sighed as he handed Ramona back over.

"Well, I guess this is it for now?" he asked.

"Yes. Thank you for your help. And tell Cat thanks again," Issac said.

"I'll be sure to do that. Just call or come back by if you need anything, anytime," Sly added. He leaned over and gave Ramona a kiss on the cheek.

"I will," Issac replied. He then promptly turned and filed back into the House.

Sly watched the door shut behind the pair. Shrugging, he made his way back to the car and to his house.

GROWTH QUEST

The House has dispatched its Child, Kero, to you, with a list of commands in the forms of clues. Get them right - and Ramona will reach her next stage. Get them wrong, and she will reach her next stage - with many flaws.

What you seek the hunt began,
Is the name of a town, not a woman or man,
Where Art is placed to where to look,
Not in a place, and not in a book,
Look for the dragon with wolflike charm,
Find her, see her, but do no harm,
What you see, is the name of a town,
As a hint, look UP not DOWN.

I will neither tell you wrong nor right,
But the next clue has to do with flight,
Aviation to be precise,
And it would just be oh so nice,
To know which one, our host is near,
An impossible task?, now don't you fear,
A town, a town - College MGC,
And the host is from Georgia, now do you see?

6 April 2005

Quote:

I had noticed that Ramona was slowly outgrowing her clothes. Too bad growing had done nothing to settle her outbursts. But she did finally stop growing. It happened like this:

I walked into the bathroom and hadn't been gone for very long when I heard her crying. She had been sleeping and with the crying I knew she was up. So I ran out into the bedroom, to find her trying to stand and get the puff ball that Cat had given her.

It was suprizing to see that she had grown so suddendly. More so to see that she had more or less gotten the barrettes in her hair more or less. I handed her the puff ball, and asked her if she wanted me to fix her hair clips.

She wiped her eyes and nodded. I fixed her barrettes and smiled. She was such a cute little girl. However, the calm from having what she wanted didn't last long either.

"Use your words my dear," I said. It was never to early to get them to talk. Then I'd have less crying to hear, I hoped. "Are you hungry?"

"Grrr..." was all she managed. Well it was a good start, of course it would have been a miracle had she started talking outright.

I picked her up and headed down to the kitchen. After I fixed her a sandwhich with some chips, I sat down to eat as well. When she was done eating she started with the tears again.

Hurrying, I stuffed the rest of my lunch in my mouth so I could find the cause of her discontent. Of course, we'd left Bunny back in her room. So after I got out of her that Bunny was what she wanted for sure, we headed back.

She played with Bunny and the puff ball for a bit before she fell asleep on the floor. She's sleeping right now on the floor, covered with a blanket. It was during this quiet time I decided to write about her growing. Now that that's finished, I'll take my leave.
