So. I'm currently writing a screenplay for fun, and I needed to know: what did orphans wear in the early 1900's? So I turned to my trusty fellow guild members. So what was orphan clothing like in that period? I've looked, but all I find is fancy rich-people clothing...

You might consider looking into the movie Newsies (or pictures at least), all the main characters are orphaned kids/newspaper boys in 1899 New York City.

Likely very dirty, torn, and probably too big or too small for the child.
That's all I can figure. Probably very simple outfits though. Orphans don't get extravagant corsets and whatnot, obviously. xd

Very simple clothes. The clothes could also be dirty or torn. Some clashing colors could work as well.

I'm thinking worn knickers or overalls, pageboy hats, fingerless gloves, and tattered button-down shirts. They were just coming out of the 1800s, so perhaps late 1800s orphan style would still work-think slightly modernized Oliver Twist.
