well hopefully you know what to do with your ambeshure (srry if misspelled) if it's sharp or flat. but u could use a tuner or if you don't have one, my band teacher says you can plug one ear and see if it's in tune. f# is the best key to tune.

well o.O if it's never consistently out of tune...like it's never always sharp or it's never always flat...then it's most likely your embouchure, you should try to find yourself a good sax teacher, but most important you need to know to have your jaw loose, but your corners tight, so that you don't let air get out of the sides...and also get a tuner so you can tune each individual note

well for one thing try playing on a softer reed. anything over a 3 1/2 have a tendency 2 wanna be flat unless of corse u have a realy strong obatur sry if i mis spelld sweatdrop playing on a softer reed gives u more flexability 2 the sound u can make. much like pick what type strings u put on a guitar. if u bend strings regularly u dont wanna find the bigest gage of corse. oh and another thing make shur u dont have and messd up keys and leaking will not only harm ur sound but anyones ears around u wink hope iv helpd message me if u have any further ?????????????????s ninja ninja ninja

Just work on getting a nice, smooth, constant tone (without your sound waving all over the place) and the problem should fix itself.

Hehehe. I know some. I am always in tune when I play. What I do is when we warm up I listen to evryone else. You should be tune with your section and french horns since they play a note bleow us. Which note come out of tune though? For me its d with octave key and the BD tunes you, try drawing a line around the end of the mouthpiece (it doesnt hurt if you do this but do it anyway.) Everyday you play try to put it there or put it closely to where you played in tune the day before. And if you tune with a bad embouchure then youll play out of tune when you make your embouchure tight. Air to the front of the note. Dnt honk or have weak air either. (tats wat our bass clarinets do) I've been playing for three years and I sound like a pro and if yu need anything or anybody else needs help ask me. (you dnt have too) Does that help? P.S It helps if you know how your embouchure should look like so play in front of a mirror or put a car mirror on your stand. (those car mirror that you slip on the sunblocker)

(those car mirror that you slip on the sunblocker) to address the way you tune: if you tune to the people in your band, then no, you will not always be in tune because the people in your band are not always in tune...i'm not saying being in tune with the band is bad, it's just not always actually in tune(and also the key an instrument is in has nothing to do with whether or not you should tune to it). and if you think you're a pro with 3 years of experience o.O then you have a horrible misconception of what a professional sounds like. you said if you have a bad embouchure, then you will be out of tune when you go tight...fyi...going tight IS bad embouchure. you should never have a tight embouchure on a sax(especially if you consider yourself professional your embouchure should hardly ever change)

well if is sharp pull the mouthpiece out and if it flat push the mouthpiece in. then i play a high G and then a regular G. that is how my band teacher tells us how to make your instrument go in tune! smile
