Okay, first of all, you should listen to why your friends might hate him.
What is this boy like?
Does he treat women with respect, or is he just after sex without any committment afterwards?
From my experience with earth men, most, if not all guys today are not thinking committment. They are mostly just users.
A true test of loyalty.
Be honest with the guy completely honest and find out his true colors.
