When your battling locally, like in the pokemon center. what's up with the gold cup and standard restrictions and such? What exactly does all that mean?

When your battling locally, like in the pokemon center. what's up with the gold cup and standard restrictions and such? What exactly does all that mean?
You mean a link battle? Well the restrictions could be for competitions, like petite could limit the pokemon used. Standard means no legends I think. the gold cup i have no idea what you are talking about. But the standards give restrictions on the pokemon you can use and may or may not hamper you.
