Kokuro trotted through the trees, his mane streaming behind him as he shook his head with a snort. The path ahead of him was dark, in a sort of permanent twilight due to the thickness of the branches of his head. Kokuro had just left the Heart of the Rock that morning after a good couple days of trading tales with some resident story tellers. It had been a fun time, but Kuro was happy he had left. It was too crowed around there for his tastes. Picking his way through the edges to the Jungle of Sleep, Kokuro enjoyed the feeling of cool mud between his hooves as the soft chatter of birds. It was a good day to be out for a stroll...

a soft twitter stirred a rather large, Blue Pan-Lun from his restless sleep, his long body lay across the thick mossy branches of a tired old sycamore tree. "rise, love, someone is coming!" a black and blue mimic gryph sung into the painters long ears. finally woken, Iratus rose up from his slumped position and shook the dew from his coat of soft peach fuz, the chains wrapped around his arms jingled slightly with the motion. unintentinaly also shaking his other companion from his back, Maku, the salamander fell promptly to the floor with a soft thud.
"oh dear" said Senoko, the small bird like creature then swooped down tot he forest floor and tended her friend. Iratus gave a careless glance before looking further down the path, now catching the soft padding of hooves Senoko had warned him of. "likely just a strayed horse" he muttered to himself as he flopped his bony structure back down on a branch and yawned.

Kokuro trotted ever forward, yawning widely. As much as he hated crowds, being alone got rather boring after a while. With a slight twitch of his tail, Kokuro signaled to his owl, Nocturo, so fly forward and scout the area. With a screech, the owl took off and flapped forward on virtually silent wings. Not that a scout was really needed, Kokuro could already smell the scent of another painter in the vicinity and, curious as he was decided to go check this new presence out. Peeking his head through the trees, Kokuro spotted the most interesting blue P'an sprawled in a tree. Smiling softly, Kokuro called out, "Greetings good fellow!" before he stepped forward into the light, wondering slightly how the tree was sustaining a full grown P'an weight so well...

Iratus's ear twitched slightly, noting the owl's presence as to be expected int he woods. but what he did not expect was the sudden greeting from a stranger, he jolted up right shaking some leaves from the poor trees branches and the spines on his back shot up like the fur on a cat's back. he didn't like surprises , nor was he the sort for pleasantries "you should know better then to startle people" he huffed, his voice sounded as if followed by a breeze. despite his somewhat less then friendly reply he jumped down from the branch, which arced back to it's natural angle.
his ribs showed clearly through his skin though he did not look starved, he was quite lank for one so big. he studied the new painter before him. he had seen a Chi-lin before but never met one personally. 'such strange creatures' he thought as the spines on his back settled back to their natural arc.
his small companions skittered over and looked at the new painter from under the blue Pan's chest. Senoko greeted him with a pleasant chirp and Maku just starred looking as though he was about to blurb something but remained silent

Kokuro chuckled at Iratus' snappy reply, it was something he would expect from a CHILD! He shook his head and replied kindheartedly, "Ah.... yes... I actually do know better, but I hadn't thought anyone could be so off oblivious that they wouldn't notice me thrashing through the woods... Or that you wouldn't catch my scent seeing as I AM upwind of you..." Kokuro trailed off as Iratus slipped from the tree, noticing something was a bit off.
This new male was so short that ,for a second, Kokuro thought he really WAS a child! But Kuro thrust that thought out of his mind as he noticed that the boy had the head and build of a full grown P'an, he was just shorter. Kokuro shrugged mentally, I've seen strange P'an before, and most of them seemed to be decent people.... this is no different... So, deciding not to bring it up, Kokuro continued and said, "What a peculiar thing... seeing a P'an in a tree... almost like a bird!" He chuckled to himself again and peered down at the new P'an's two small companions and smiling, " Why, hello little ones!" Just as he said that, Kokuro's owl, Nocturo, swooped in through the trees and landed gracefully on Kuro's horn, his favorite resting spot.

Iratus glared hard at the other painter, of course he could have seen this coming...had he been truly awake, he had a habit of getting up but he still wasn't 'all there' even wandering about wasn't uncommon for him to do. he chose slightly elevated places to sleep, such as the tree, in case he did so, that the fall would wake him but hopefully not hurt.
he blinked his pitless eyes heavily as if chasing away the last remnants of sleep before he responded to the Chi-lins odd comment. "yeah well birds have wings don't they?" he said sarcastically he was still bitter at the loss of his wings and lacked the courage to try and learn to fly using natural P'an-lun magic.
he was indeed very strange. and even if he wasn't as polite as he could be he was very curious about the other painter and perplexed by his interest in conversing with someone like him.
Senoko made another happy chirp and puffed her blue and white feathers while Maku gave his best salamander smile.
"what is thine interest, hooved one?" most considered his conversations annoying since he would switch between more modern sentences to using a few older terms when it suited him. though he never saw a problem with it as it came natural. he had mixed parents of both origin and species so he picked up both ways of saying some things.
Senoko pecked his arm slightly for his rudeness though he ignored it. she should know by now, and the new painter was about to learn he was very childish and temperamental until he decided it was safe to be otherwise.

Kokuro quirked an eyebrow and nodded, "Yes.. yes I noticed that you do not have wings, while birds do. I'd have rather poor eyesight to not be able notice as much..." Kokuro could feel the acid dripping off the P'an's tongue as the boy talked about wings. He had no idea why in the world the blue Painter had such an animosity towards winged things. After all, he had a mimic , which has wings, so Kokuro was completely perplexed by the P'an's words, but he did not question it. Kokuro was not one to get overly personal and start asking such deep questions when he had just met this new male.
Kuro then raised both his eyebrows and blinked at the male's sudden change in accent. And, yet again, Kuro had no wish to question it, at least... not yet. Yes Kokuro loved knowledge, but not so much knowledge about people personally. Kokuro smiled broadly and then chuckled as he thought about an answer for the P'an's question, but could not really find one. "My interest? I am not actually very interesting in anything at the moment... other than chatting with a fellow Painter. But if you wish for me to find an interest, I'm sure I could think of an interesting interest if you do feel so inclined...."

slightly annoyed he had not yet been able to drive the new painter away with his rude outbursts Iratus shrugged and sat on his haunches. Senoko quickly skittered up his body and rested between his horns like some kind of feathered hat. in spite of himself Iratus LOVED winged things. particularly birds and the like. the mimic on his head was probably the only other living thing in existence to have gotten those three special words from the blue painter.
though when next the Chi-Lin spoke Iratus gave a slightly confused stare but it quicly curled into a devious grin. " so be it then." he said flatly, curious to see what he would come up with. Maku rolled his eyes and gave a look to Senoko, to which she puffed her feathers trying not to giggle.
(( sorry for the delay I had a busy weekend. my two best friends usually come over and we watch movies on the weekends *so forgot to mention that* ))
